Had wired internet, yet constant intermittent, not connected messages from computer. What else, was had $70 mo internet service, called to cut plan in HALF and was quoted $65 mo. Contact customer service and you get the normal automated run around. Contact them to cancel service and you will get a person from a call center most likely from another country as you can barely understand them trying to convince you not to cancel using delay tactics and basically soliciting for new customer without any compensation to you. read more

I only had internet in the house for my tenants. When they moved out in August of 2025, I settled my balance and closed my account. Big they kept billing me. Stay away...far, far away. Optimum is very good at offering 'promotions' that appear great on the surface, but your bill will reflect the opposite of what you are promised. When you complain about the nearly double-the-cost bill, you will be told that it takes a couple of months to "kick in". Do not be deceived as I was...three times after I added in additional lines to 'reduce my cost...as a promotion'. And, to add insult to injury, service is horrible. After transferring my line to Optimum, I have about a one-second delay, so all my conversations seem like we are talking over each other. And, I'm never notified when there is a voicemail. I wish I could rate it lower and sadly it's the only provider in the area. 15 minutes out of every hour your WiFi will randomly be disconnected an the app and the tech support will say they've fixed it and it just keeps happening. They start arguing with you, it's Unbelievable, that you even get a Migraine trying to communicate with this people. I tried calling because they sent the wrong set top box. I called to tell them that and was told by a bot that they could call me back instead of me waiting on hold. Great! When they finally called back, an automated voice said "this is your Optimum call back. Press 1 to speak to a representative now." But every time I pressed 1, the message just kept repeating until the bot said, "sorry we missed you; we'll call back later." THIS HAPPENED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS! I finally called THEM back and managed to reach a person WHO I COULD NOT UNDERSTAND. I hate Optimum (had it in my last house too but got rid of it for Verizon which was much better). But Optimum now is part of my HOA so I'm STUCK with it! WORST SERVICE PROVIDER EVAH! read more

TLDR; Optimum has to be the most negligent, inconsiderate, and worst ISP I have ever dealt with. They do not care about their customers and support will lie and push other products on you. If you don't accept they will be rude and neglegent to your issues. The only pro I can give them is when my internet works it works decent. I pay for 1Gig. Now I understand with it not being fiber, how many devices are connected etc. I won't obtain those speeds, but I do get an average of 500-700, WHEN IT WORKS. For over a month now I have been dealing with constant service interuptions. Literally over a dozen times a day and I truly wish I was exagerating that number. Outage time ranges from 30 seconds to 30 minutes. Our service has had random disruptions frequently over the 2 and a half years we have had them, but never this bad. I have been on the phone, in chats, and even in stores trying to resolve this issue. My wife and I work from home and it has severally hindered our work lives. It tooks over 6 different attempts to get support before them being willing to send out a technician. Everytime I spoke to support they would run a test and the internet would be "Operating smoothly" which after waiting for 20 minutes on hold or for a rep in chat makes sense as its random and does not last long. The technician came out inspected and replaced all connections and wires. He also recommended a new Gateway as ours had lights on that were not suppose to be on. The tech also stated he is not sure why support would be saying our service was fine when it clearly wasnt. He also said their modem/router combo was terrible as a router and recommended a mesh system. With his advice in consideration we decided to buy a nice mesh system to hopefully alleviate some of my wife and I's issues while working by placing nodes in each of our offices. After replacing every readily available hardware we are still unable to stay connected and now when we speak to support they claim it must be an unreported outage. After going to the store to replace the modem I was 1 of 4 other individuals in there experiencing the same issues. I was instructed at the store to time it right and get support to test it while having issues. During all 4 of my attempts to "Time it right" I was offered their mobile services and only 1 of the reps was considerate of my initial denial. The rest continued to be pushy and when they finally accepted no offered almost no assistance to my issue and would just disconnect. If I could swap ISPs I would, but sadly the only other options I have are satelite and they dont offer well enough speeds for our jobs or a fiber company, BUT my landlord will not let us run a fiber line through the property. If you made it all the way through my story my advice would be to try a different ISP if available and stay away from Optimum. If you cannot then I am sorry for your struggles and I am there with you Now... que the generic scripted BS response that someone from Optimum will write as a comment. read more

Horrible ping and service stable connection reliability. Even when the company was Suddenlink, it suffered from being unable to provide stable connections. The average ping in America is 20-50ms. Optimum averages 100-200 when it is stable and spikes every 30 seconds to above 500+. This instability is why your videos won't play, and your Google searches take forever to load. It has been over four years, and they still have not fixed their reliability issues. read more

Discontinued services on Jan 30 for my father when he moved into assisted living. I was assured that he would not owe for the unused month of February. Turns out they lied, and he has to pay for the entire billing cycle which is conveniently from 1/25-2/24. AND, the customer service rep's internet was so poor that, ironically, she could not even load his prior bill from wherever they are located. I had to provide her with the information from his billing. Total rip-off! Everyone should cut the cord and go to streaming. (Hopefully there is another internet provider in this area). read more

I seriously wish I could leave no stars. We waited for 6.5 hours for them to come fix our internet router in our Airbnb business. I called multiple people, talked to many agents on line and even went into the store. They were completely unable to help us in the store didn't know how to get in touch with there own technician. Which is absolutely insane. Finally after much complaining they said the tech went by and we weren't home, which is completely untrue we were waiting on the porch for them. Please go to wal mart and get straight talk or go to Verizon for your internet. I have never met a more incompetent company and employees in my entire life. read more

RUN!!!!!!! I'm a very easy person to please. I set very low standards when it comes to expectations. I've tried to get internet from Optimum for over a month now. This has been by far the most aggravating and frustrating experience of my life BY FAR!! All stated around a month ago when i decided to go with Optimum because there wasn't a whole lot to choose from in my area. All was good, they said they'd send a technician out and they actually showed up, but couldn't do anything because I didn't have a "line" going to my house from the box down the street. The technician said he'd make a ticket and have the crew come out and run the line from the box to my house. Still good. Crew never shows up. I call at least 5 times over the course of a couple weeks because they keep making appts and no one shows up to lay the line. I keep calling and they keep send technicians out to my house, which keep telling me the same thing, they can't do anything until the line is laid from the box to my house. A month of absolute frustration!! To top it off, I got a bill for the first month?? WTF, I haven't even had internet?? I have no idea how businesses with this kind of customer service stay in business.... Like I said, RUN, do not do business with Optimum!! read more
