After i hired another mechanic, he found the issue to be something unrelated to what Randy suggested, and also confirmed that the fuel pumps were not replaced. Randy is a scammer. Don't hire him. Randy has zero professionalism or any real care for his customers. He will take your money and not look back.

Upon calling him many times after trying to see if he can give me a rough estimate on the repair costs for insurance, he said that I would need to drop off my boat at their property and pay for an inspection, but I was told that the $100 home visit would cover a rough estimate on engine replacement and labor. I lost my money and now it seems fishy that they keep insisting I drop off my boat at their shop. I bet many have lost their boats to these people, seems to be they place liens and such. There was absolutely ZERO damage to our boat. We have had it since 2017 and it looks like new. We picked it up 2 days later and when we got it home to get it ready to drop into the water, we saw a bad fiberglass damage to the engine cover and called immediately to report the damage. He denied having anything to do with it and went so far in his denial that he said the power pole was too close to the engine. It has been in the same place since we bought it new and we have never had any problems. He went so far as to say that he saw the damage but forgot to say anything to us because he assumed we knew. Why would we launch our boat into the water with a hole in the engine cover? We have both been nurses for over 40 yrs and we are honest and forthright with how we treat people. James, however, is not a good honest person. He lacks the integrity to just admit he made a mistake and take accountability for those mistakes. If you take your boat to him, you are putting yourself in a situation that will put you and your boat in jeopardy due to the fact that it is his word against yours.

We loved being able to step off our boat and be in the heart of New Bern's charming downtown area. There were so many things for our kids to do and explore in the area. The marina itself is in a rebuilding state from a recent hurricane. The office is housed in a temporary building that is about a block away from the docks. They do have bathrooms and laundry, but the pool is still closed. The transient dock is brand new and extremely nice. We docked on the far side and struggled to get the marina wifi. My advice would be to try to dock closer to the gate at the end. You will have a shorter walk with laundry and closer proximity to wifi. The staff is very friendly at New Bern Grand Marina Yacht Club and they offered our family several suggestions on restaurants. We will definitely return!
