Can I give 10 stars? Because I'd like to give 10 stars!!…read more My current glasses are 6 years old and I only wear them in the privacy of my home. But I want frames that are clearly as awesome as I am. Enter House of Eyes. I knew from my car that this place would have exactly what I was looking for. Bespoke. High end. A flair for drama. The desk person walked us through the set up and let us browse. I landed on 4 that I LOVED. Then another salesperson came out and shared valuable info about the available colorways, tinting processes, and even brought me some from the back not on the floor. Customer service is actually not dead folks. Get into it: -frames start in the $150 range and reach the stratosphere. But my god - the fit, the style, the details in the higher range? Exceptional. -I've been doing some reading on how glasses do or do not fit the bridges of "ethnic" noses as we tend to have broader and flatter noses. This shop does a great job of providing inclusive frame styles. Me and my husband found stuff that felt and looked good - no compromises. -The service was OUTSTANDING. Our sales associate was Rinkin (sp?) and he was amazing. We had the same taste in frames so he was able to instinctively bring me styles I loved and talk me through the pros and cons of the 4 I selected. Patient, knowledgable, and clearly passionate about eyewear - I love to see it. -Eye doctor on premises. Exams are only $120 which is cheaper than I get at Costco. A contacts exam is about $100 more but includes an exam for contacts and glasses and a long trial period for the lenses. They can also take any existing prescription you may have from elsewhere and spec your glasses. -Customization. You can get any of the models as sunglasses or regular eyeglasses or tinted as much or as little as you'd like. The bottom line is I'm tired of settling in this area of my life. Now that I'm at the point in my adulthood where glasses are no longer optional, I will be investing in exactly what I want. Peep my pics and let me know which ones you like best. And after you've done that - go to this store!!

I had an extremely disappointing experience at The Optical Shoppe at Princeton spanning over 4…read moremonths. I received a new prescription from my optometrist for distance vision and ordered new sunglasses, distance glasses, and computer glasses. I paid for the frames and lenses for all 3, which came to more than $1,000. When I returned weeks later, only the distance glasses had been created. When I put them on, I realized the prescription made my vision worse, not better. I decided not to get the distance glasses and sunglasses and to only get a new pair of computer glasses with my previous prescription. I asked to be refunded for the pairs of glasses I would not be purchasing and was told by the associate to wait until I received my new computer glasses at which time a final refund would be granted. I had my previous optometrist fax my old prescription to the associate I was working with at The Optical Shoppe. When I had not heard from him about my new computer glasses after 3-4 weeks, I called only to discover that the prescription faxed to him by the optometrist was incomplete and that it was my responsibility to get the complete prescription to him. This was the first frustrating experience as I was never told by him that the prescription he received was incomplete, so there was no way I could have known this and re-request the full prescription be faxed, nor did the associate call the optometrist to request the full prescription. I worked with the associate and picked out new frames for the computer glasses and had the old prescription faxed to him. When I received the call that my new computer lenses were in, I discovered that the associate never put in the order for the new frames I had picked out with him a few weeks earlier. He denied that I had given him the frames I selected with him weeks ago. I was very disappointed about his lack of accountability and professionalism. He then had his supervisor see me and she very sternly (and rudely) told me that I should take my business elsewhere rather than offering to fix the problem that The Optical Shoppe had created. When I explained that I wanted to have the computer glasses made at The Optical Shoppe, she told me I had to pay for any new frames I would purchase, which I had agreed to do multiple times during our discussion, but did not offer initially to refund the money I had spent (over $1,000) months earlier for glasses. She finally did process my refunds, but only after I insisted this be done. In so many ways and in almost every interaction I had with them over 4 months, The Optical Shoppe staff was unhelpful and unaccommodating. I decided not to do business with them given repeated failures to properly take and fill my order, their lack of accountability for mistakes they made, their unwillingness to try to fix things, and for the rudeness with which I was treated. As a physician, I recognize the importance of caring for the patient in a kind, compassionate, and understanding way, and to accept responsibility for any mistakes one makes during the course of providing care or a service.

I was a loyal and happy customer for over 20 years until this last visit - which will be my last…read morevisit. Before I explain why, I want to thank Melissa and the rest of the crew at the Optical Shoppe for all the good work and kindness that provided for all those years and say how very sad I am to be taking my business elsewhere. The shop has changed for the worse, apparently due to the recent change in ownership. The selection of merchandise has changed significantly, so that you are forced to choose between a smaller collection of low/mid-tier ($125-$225) frames and a beefed-up collection of premium ($500+) merchandise. This upsell tactic was made even more painful for me by their with elimination of one of my favorite brands (Flexon) and a much-reduced selection of RayBan frames. Service has gone the same route. The poor sales people are rushed and impersonal, not entirely their fault since the store appears to be quite understaffed. It would also explain why they act as if answering questions was more of an annoyance than part of their job. More important, they seem to be constrained by new policies that don't allow them to offer small courtesies they once did, such as recording our preferences in frames and holding them until new prescription was ready. Does anybody have a suggestion for a better store - preferably not one of those big chains?

Anyway, the manager of the store helped me find what I thought was the right pair for me. I received them about a month later due to them coming from overseas. Both my daughter and I were seen back-to-back and we were done within 1 hour. Dr. Zastrow has a very good bedside manner. Easy to talk to, has a sense of humor, etc. Sadly, they no longer take my insurance so this visit was out of pocket, but it was affordable. And for a yearly visit it's not a big deal that I have to pay. I was also impressed that we got his business card which was laminated and on the back they put our info (prescription strength) and when our next appointment will be.
