Everyone was friendly which I didn't mind, the eye exams were good but why I gave them the 1 star rating was because they had charged me a lot of money for my damn eye exam I and I had a good eye insurance. This was 4 years ago.. They had charged me like $500.00 and mind you I had eye insurance and I didn't think I would pay this highway robbery charge for an eye exam...so when I did pay for this outrageous charge, two weeks after that I had follow up appointment they charge me for the follow up appointment and I thought it was included and it should have been included where I shouldn't pay for this follow up and then they wanted a 2nd follow up and another charge!! I am so fed up that every time I go they are charging me for every visit and on top of that when I completely stopped going they had the nerve to send me a bill that I still owe them another and completely different charge! I am like they have to be out of their minds!! They are trying their best to nickel and dime me for whatever reason... I just have to put this review up because they still keep sending me letters that for me to return to them as a patient. I am wondering what's going on with the staff...do they know what they are doing? NOT!!!

Dr. Friedman will take the time to explain his findings in detail, and offer you sound advice on vision problems or concerns. The offices are cheerful, and up to date with the latest equipment. When I walked in today without an appointment, for an eyeglass adjustment, he called out to me by my name! That says it all.

    This is a new location for Warren Eye Care (yes, the name tells you their previous location)…read more I first became aware of them because I bought Google Glass and they were listed as one of the few places that would fill a prescription to fit their lenses. After one visit, I moved myself and my family from another local business to this place for all of our eyecare and glasses needs. The owner Michael Kim is a pleasure to deal with, he is warm, friendly, respectful and has a great sense of humor and best of all, he really knows his business. He has a few different eye doctors that are there at different days of the week and it isn't difficult to get an appointment. His shop is always spotless, I honestly wish that most restaurants had a public bathroom as clean as his. Michael is one of those business professionals that I trust completely. He is quick to tell me that I really should spend a few extra dollars to get something that will make me happy and just as quick to tell me that my prescription hasn't changed much and I probably can wait a bit longer for new glasses and save some money. His wife Gina is a lovely woman and very friendly and the eye doctors he has working for him are both great. The shop is large, clean and has a very nice selection and Michael is a master of his trade, when he takes measurements and mounts your lenses in the frames you pick, the work is perfect and he treats you as if you're his only customer and wants to make a great impression. When we visit, I bring my wife and daughter and are usually there for a while picking out frames and seeing the optometrist and I see how happy his customers are when dealing with this business. TLTR - I went here with reservations as I already had a place and felt bad about going to another business, but the care and service here is unparalleled! They easily made me and my family customers for life.

When I arrived, they greeted me at the door, the ladies were all very friendly. The techs were very knowledgeable. The doctor was very thorough and professional during the exam. I had a vision plan but didn't know much and the office staff helped me find my coverage and optimize my glasses based on my plan. For glasses, the office had a nice selection of frames and helped guide me through the process (I had not had Rx glasses before). Location was nice because they have a little parking lot which means you don't have to search for a spot and pay a meter like most places in Somerville. Highly recommend.

    I won't go into great detail, but I've had a medical condition for the past month that has…read moreprevented me from driving. One of my requirements from the NJMVC to reacquire my drivers license is to provide them with results from a vision test. I don't use my glasses currently and I'm not required by the state to wear them while driving. I called SFE on Wednesday (5/8/19) to obtain the strength of my last prescription glasses so that I can replace my old and scratched lenses in order to properly perform my vision test. After filling out my release form, I dropped it off in person (as I was not allowed to fax or email it over). As I dropped it off (since I currently do not have the ability to drive) I requested from Wendi, the receptionist, that she please call me when the records are completed so I could coordinate with someone for a ride over to pick them up. She confirmed this by reading my phone number from my file out loud to me to check that it was still the same. Yesterday (5/9/19), I called the office around 4:45 PM to see why I haven't received a call to see if my documents were ready as I was promised. I was told in a very condescending tone that "they've been here waiting since 2:00 PM." When I asked over the phone why I didn't receive a phone call, I got a song and a dance about how "I never asked for a phone call". You literally read my number out loud to me. I'm not allowed to drive. Why would I lie about asking for a phone call? Not my fault she's unorganized and didn't write anything down. When I mentioned that I'm not trying to argue about this over the phone, again, I got a condescending tone of "well, they're here now". Nice. I have 45 days to submit all of my tests to the NJMVC, so I had no choice but to find a ride for this day. Once I walked in, without saying a word, I was handed an envelope with all of my personal medical records. No identification was asked for, no date of birth, nothing. She just assumed I was the correct person picking up my documents. HUGE HIPAA VIOLATION!! I said "that's it?" She said "yup." Unfortunately, my girlfriend was present for all of my recent trips and had to witness all of this first-hand...but on we go with our lives. Thank you Somerville Family Eyecare for all of the hard work and effort you've put into running your practice. I appreciate what you've been able to do to correct my vision over the past 12 years. Unfortunately, I'm not going to allow my records to be in the hands of someone so careless that they just hand them out to anyone that just walks in the front door. Oh, and I also don't appreciate the nasty attitude from Wendi. I was originally going to see if SFE could provide my vision test since I now have vision insurance for the first time in 4 years, but I think I'd prefer to go anywhere else.
