However, when I went to him for a nasal polyp, he actually ended up performing two other procedures that were completely unnecessary that he never spoke of in our THREE pre-op appointments. When I signed the consent form in the pre-op room, I thought it was just the formal name of the procedure I was having done. I didn't realize until I woke up with a splint in my nose that I had a septoplasty. Technically, it wasn't illegal because I did give consent but it was completely unnecessary procedure and I am certain now that I never had to have surgery to begin with. I will always tell people to avoid his practice, but I will say that I learned an invaluable life lesson. As a patient, you have a responsibility to be your own best advocate and part of that is understanding that you are as much a person in need as you are a customer. She was very helpful in explaining different features and providing a recommendation. I purchased hearing aids for her that have worked tremendously well. Recently (six years after her first visit), my mother lost one of the hearing aids. I sent a note to Dr. Farah, who very promptly responded with alternatives for a replacement. She again described all the options and was very helpful in suggesting a cost effective recommendation for a replacement aid.
