This is usually a good place, except that the acoustics are awful... but tonight, we ordered curbside due to the covid epidemic. The community was holding a cruise night to give folks something to do, and to support local restaurants. I know they were busy, and although they told me 20 to 35 minutes when I called in my order, I was prepared for a bit longer wait. It took an hour and a half, wasn't up to their usual standards, and was cold. Probably not worth going if they're busy. read more

Stopped here while traveling back to CO. One of the best burgers I've had! Service was a bit slow since it was a busy Sunday afternoon but worth the wait. Meat is locally raised, buns are fresh and veggies crisp. Great find , especially for a small town. read more

Fresh review: ate there 20 min ago. 8-20-16. This is one of those places, where, if you are a snob, you'll find plenty to complain about. Maybe 'one' fry wasn't exactly hot enough, or the servers didn't wear bow ties, or not enough dressing for your salad, or some other petty nonsense. But, if you are a normal, fairly happy, easy going soul, you'll find much here that is quite great! Had burgers & sirloin salad. Both ended w/ clean plates! Superb beer selection for a small town in cattle country. Remember that, cattle country! The whole menu is simple, not fussy. There are some cool surprises on the menu. Very good fresh burgers. Ask for the specialty, staff is friendly and attentive. Sweet potato fries with their special sauce are to die for... Fried green beans also highly recommended. Spent the night in Ogallala and found this place on yelp. I'm wondering why I give so many 4 star reviews and I realize it's because when I travel I generally won't eat at a place that has *less* than 4 stars unless I have too. Mystery solved.. now on to the review! Felt like a good burger tonight, so we found this place (once again, thanks Yelp). LOTS of obvious local folks which is always a good sign. Note - this is a pretty casual place. You place your order at the counter and then they call your name when your food is ready. Don't expect waitress service. That being said, the burgers were excellent. Perfectly cooked (tell me, why is it SO hard to get a medium rare burger anywhere? 80% of places cook the living heck out of them). Mine was perfectly medium rare. Very juicy, nice bun. My buddy and I shared an order of dill pickles which were *excellent* (slices, not the spears). Fries for me were ok, decent, but nothing to write home about. We also shared some onion rings which were also excellent. Nice batter... Good stuff, if you are hankering for a nice juicy burger and don't mind casual, stop in, you should leave burger happy. read more

What a treasure we found during our annual lake trip this year! Thank you past yelp reviewers for letting us know what a great little restaurant this is. We've tried many restaurants in Ogallala during our years of visiting Lake Mac, most left us disappointed. Open Range served great food at affordable prices with friendly service. Passing through this horrid town and stumbled upon this gem. Be advised that you order at the counter. Don't be stuck sitting for 20 minutes waiting for your server like idiots. Like we did. Once we figured it out, service was fast. Food was hot, fresh and delicious. I had the burger with seated onions and garlic and spicy mayo. Best burger I think I've ever had. This place was awesome - the food was fantastic, but I also loved how accomodating the venue was toward families, kids(super kid to-do area) women (the bathrooms rock - with essential and even nonessentials available - if you are a lady you KNOW all that I am talking about), plus adult games (pool and shuffleboard) and a SUPER beer/wine/cider/etc. selection. The beef was delish and we FINALLY found our Rocky Mountain oysters. Such a great place to visit in Ogallala. read more

We stopped on our drive taking a load back to California where we r from. We stopped here due to reviews on yelp. It did not dissapoint. I have never had such a flavorful tender burger. The girl who helped us was amazing yet her shift ended and I didn't get her name. She suggested the burger with the jalapeños and mushroons. I added grilled onion on mine. Sweet potato fries were great also. They had a live band. We had to get out of there cause the bar was tempting. We had six guys on a cross country motorcycle trip and this place was highly recommended. We started with the fried pickle chips and Pappas. Nothing but great things to say. Awesome atmosphere. All of us loved the chicken tenders and the homemade ranch. Burgers had nice flavor. They used real bacon, too. The secret sauce that came with the kids burger was way too much as far as spices. The homemade potato fries and sweet potato fries were both excellent. Live music was great, too. We hosted our 25-year class reunion Friday evening get together at Open Range. The service was top-notch to book and throughout the evening. Decor, pool and games gave everyone something to enjoy. Add to that, the food was fantastic with options for the carnivores, the vegetarians, and the gluten-free. Burger places are great, but you kicked it up with the bun options (pretzel was great). This is a very good burger place, everything is very awesomely made. I think my main complaint is that they only use one register when you order your food, and I have stood 20 minutes just to get chicken strips. It's very good, the food is always fresh and quickly made. I personally like the Prairie Fire burger and the Yardbird sticks. I'm not sure what it is about the tables but the finish seems to be sticky, not really a complaint because I realize the tables are clean, it's just weird. read more

It's an okay place, a little pricey for a restaurant that raises their own beef and unless you order the burger at least medium it can be quite dry, even with the special sauce. I learned that the hard way and now if I go there order mine medium rare. This seems to have made the whole difference. The gomora burger was great, juicy and the jalapenos along with the jalapeno bun were really good. I just think $9.00 for a burger in a place that raises it's own beef is a little expensive. But unfortunately, this is how most businesses are in Ogallala NE. They're so busy raping the tourists, they could care less about the locals. read more

We drove from Chicago to Denver for Christmas. On the way back we stopped here based on some reviews on yelp. It was definately worth it! The food was pretty tasty however there are some things to be aware of: The big open room is very noisy, including pool games and children screaming to hear the sound of their voices. It also takes quite some time, if there is a crowd, to stand in line to place your order. The food is made to order so you wait for that too. Stopped in Ogallalla on our way home from Golden, CO. Really great burger(Range Burger with smoked cheddar) and crispy onion rings. Cold, well poured G and T. My son had the Gomorrah Burger and as a burger aficionado was very pleased with his selection. The Open Range Grill has a fun atmosphere with families and Lake Mac people with live music on the patio. Great place to stop and soak up the atmosphere and the great Nebraska beef! read more
