Finely chopped salsa rather than chunky. Chips left a lot to be desired and were like store bought. B+ Queso appetizer: Well-spiced white cheese. When i first walked i noticed the art work right away complimenting the vast cultural landscape of the latin people. Service was excellent and very welcoming. Chips came out hot and salsa spicy to my liking and i love spicy...nose is runny as I write this lol. My food came out in a hot plate and looking delicious. Loved the way they make your tostada more like a bowl so it don't slide off the other side. Everything tasted heavenly and was cooked to perfection!!! I was attracted to this brightly-colored restaurant and couldn't wait to see the Inside. Colors I was not disappointed at all. I loved all the bright colors everywhere. They were busy as I waited one hour and twenty minutes to get served. I would say they short-staffed. Out came some chips and salsa while I waited. OMG... The salsa was so spicy, on fire. I asked the waitress if she had mild or a different sauce and she said no just spicy and she walked away. I was like WHAT? So I just sat there and waited for food. Finally, the ground beef tacos I ordered were coming out. Ummmm are you sure this is right? The tacos were a hard like shell full of grease. I think they may have deep fried the tacos! NOOOOO.....I was so disappointed with my order after waiting all that time. I will say that the tacos did have a big flavor and I enjoyed eating the favorable taco meat from the inside. I was traveling through and wanted Mexican food. I am so glad I chose Mi Ranchito. Such a cute and super clean place. Service was so friendly and efficient. I loved the food, starting with the chips and salsa and the taco plate. The rice and beans were amazing too, and I frequently leave them on my plate at many places. But not here. We were passing through Nebraska and stopped for a quick dinner. Our experience at this restaurant was outstanding! The food was delicious and reasonably priced. My (chicken) fajita taco salad was out of this world and so was my husband's chili lime chicken tacos! The chips and salsa was fresh and our drinks (water and coke) were promptly filled by our waitress. The bathrooms were spotless and the staff was friendly and quick to respond to our requests and questions. We will definitely be back!! I rarely leave Yelp reviews, but we were so happy with the experience at this restaurant we wanted to spread the word! read more

We recently drove out to see Bro J & T in Colorado Springs. This trip took us through Iowa so we crossed the plains through Nebraska and were at Ogallala at lunchtime. We really did not need much lunch knowing how much we would be fed at my brother's, but what we had was decent and although I should have taken half with me, somehow, I wolfed it all down. Ms T ordered huevos rancheros and I ordered huevos con chorizo with chiles torreados. We like Mexican eggs for breakfast or lunch and these were just fine. These dishes normally have more character or authenticity than the gringo-ized food like burritos. While it is highly unlikely that we will ever be passing through Ogallala, Nebraska at lunch time again (or any time) but if I were, I would certainly choose Mi Ranchito over the typical fast food restaurants clustered around the exit from I-80. read more

I'm not a huge Mexican food expert, but having lived in the Southwest (Phoenix area, Las Vegas, and Southern Colorado) for over 45 years, I've eaten my fair share, including some of the highest rated restaurants in Las Vegas. And this food was as good, if not better. And I told the chef that! I don't go to Ogallala very often, but when I do, I know where I'm eating. The handsome partner and I were driving cross-country from Eastern PA to SLC, UT and were really craving something NOT fast food or rest stop-y(tm). Turning to the Yelps, as always, we found this little gem on the frontage road along I-80. The food was quick and tasty, with portions more suitable to dinner than a quick mid-day bite (oh, don't worry, we ate it all and then some). Plus the salsa was homemade with genuine kick (if a slightly off-putting texture) and the chips were warm and, I'm pretty sure, fresh out of the . . . fryer? Pan? Chip-maker? My husband and I are over the road truck drivers. Pickings for food are usually extremely slim so we were really excited to see this spot walking distance from the TA we were parked at for the night. I am originally from Southern Cali and we live near Austin TX so we are pretty spoiled when it comes to Mexican food. Daisy was very sweet and gave us excellent service. The salsa is blended (I guess that's the texture everyone is talking about) but the flavor is good and the chips were warm. We both ordered fajitas and made modifications to our meals without incident. Sopapillas were hot and fluffy and they warm the honey. They were equally as good if not better than most we've had in Tx. Everything tasted great and we will happily return to this hidden gem in the middle of nowhere Nebraska. read more

There was no one there at around 1530 but it is that in between time of supper and dinner. Small restaurant as it's name implies. Nicely decorated. Staff was friendly and got our orders taken right away. Margaritas I thought were very small for the price but I'm from TX and everything is bigger in TX. The rice was dry and over cooked like it had been under a heat lamp. Tacos and refried beans were ok. But not being from the area this place might be excellent. read more

When we walked into the restaurant the tables where all covered with dirty dishes and there was no one at the front to greet the customers. While we waited to see a host about 10 customers came in and had to wait as well not knowing how long it would take to get service. Once we did get seated after 15 minutes the server had no clue to what she was doing. We placed are order and it was delivered to the table all wrong. Very cheerful -- interior decor and people. Food is very good; more on the authentic side than fancy or innovative style. Salsa is non-fancy puree with decent kick, and chips were fresh and warm. Ok, so I'm giving this 5 stars based on the fact that this is NEBRASKA! When traveling I-80, this state is one of my least faves. I'm vegetarian and eat as much organic, non-GMO food as possible. We had a great dinner here of cheese enchiladas & Margarita's. Now, I'm from CA, where this restaurant might get 3 stars, but out in the middle of BFE, this place is an Oasis! In the past I've gone to Margaritas which is really pretty darn good considering it's ogallala. I decided to try this different Mexican restaurant because I was told by a local that it was pretty good. The restaurant had strange hardware on the doors leading into it, by no means ADA compliant. The menu was dirty. The beef fajitas tasted like someone dumped an entire Shaker of salt on them and were basically inedible. The special Tuesday $3.99 Margaritas tasted like they didn't have any alcohol in them. I won't be back. read more

My wife and I were passing through on oup9r way from Wisconsin out to Moab when we decided we have a hunger for Mexixan cuisine. The building itself looked nice enough but as soon as we sat down, we knew it would be a long iafternoon. As the waitress was nice enough, it took roughly 20 minutes for any basic waitress services to be provided. Repeated attempts to flag down said waitress we're all in vain and the entire meal took about an hour and a half.
