So we were just driving through but we didn't want fast food. A lot of places closed at 7 and they were open till 9 so they won. I LOVED that you could just place your order, find a table and they'd bring it to you. Fill your drinks yourself so no bugging for refills. Definitely more of a rustic restaurant but clean and helpful people. Lots of fun menu options but they were busy so it was 45 mins for our food thankfully they had a pool table and shuffleboard! Not open when we showed up at 7p on a Saturday? Both Google and Yelp stated they would be open.

Good food and chill place, but when you buy $70 dollars of food and drinks, plus tip on that... then when you ask for an extra ranch when you run out and they tell you it's $0.50 for another cup it it upsetting. My son had finished his one cup of ranch after eating a few fries and just one of his chicken tenders. Chicken was dry. It's flat out unacceptable to not provide the sauce necessary to eat chicken tenders! Will not be returning or recommending. Not that I expect much in the way of service from an order up front place where you seat yourself, but there was no greeting of any kind, no instruction to seat yourself, no checking how our meal was, no interaction when I went up to grab a box, nobody spoke to us beyond my speaking to them when I ordered at first and when I asked for the ranch at the end. On the positive side the restaurant was clean and had a nice rustic feel. The control handle to the men's bathroom sink was broken, and paper towel dispenser was also broken. read more

Open Range has always been one of my favorite spots in Ogallala! Great food and drink selection. Some of their burgers are definitely out there and it's fun to try them. Their appetizers are always great. Sometimes I find the burgers to be a little dry sometimes, but they're usually good. They have GREAT ranch, which is always a plus for me. Their Rancho Cobb salad is one of my favorites here. There is lots of seating, the staff is always great. A solid place to grab a good meal! read more

Nothing new here, still great food, busy with the locals and lake crowd, and food that arrives fast and fills an empty stomach. On this trip the range burger was the special, we selected the brioche bun and stayed with the fresh potato fries. After eating a big lunch, we opted to split the special--I guess we are officially senior citizens now, but it was just the right amount. Way over priced for what you get. Six dollars for a can of beer. I had the steak sandwich, wanted a nice ribeye but that's not on the menu. My "steak sandwich" was a piece of beef?? covered with mushrooms and a slice of melted cheese, sitting on top of two slices of toasted/grilled bread. The meat was tough, bad tough. It was the kinda tough that isn't afraid to walk down a dark alley, at night, wearing a pink tutu. The fries were over done simple put. The young lady working there was nice though. We stopped here on an rv trip. It's a great local burger place. We all ordered burgers. The first two arrived quickly. The other two were delayed enough that we talked to the manager. She was very apologetic about the delay and refunded the cost as well as delvering the food. Apparently they were breaking in a new cook. There are lots of beer on tap. It was such a treat and an explosion of flavored. I had the Renegade Burger with horseradish cheese, grilled onions, grilled jalapeños, and sweet potato fries on the side. They serviced it with some kind if chipotle spread or dip too, it seemed. That paired well with the fries, which were the crispiest I'd ever had, crinkle cut. Don't waste your time or $$!! The burger was well well done. Fries are mediocre at best. The fried pickle spears were undercooked. And how is one supposed to tip when you have to order at the counter and bus your own table?? I'm guessing its hard to keep help because I don't know about you but if im taking my own order and bussing my own table the tip will not be nearly as much. We love stopping at this spot coming in, or leaving the lake because the service is quick and it's pretty consistent when it comes to burgers and beer. It's fast casual so you order at the counter an they bring it out to you. The pretzel bun is my favorite type of bun but they offer a variety. This outdoorsy wooden kind of country building is actually a local restaurant. I was fooled, I say!!! Upon entering the long ramp up to the doors, I was eager to see what's inside. This very spacious, hearty countryside restaurant was extremely unique. There are multiple rooms available for a variety of activities and festivities. If you keep walking all the to the back, they do offer out of doors gatherings. I would have loved to see the staff more engaging as a new customer with questions about their eatery. Next time, I'm sure. WOW! I just fell in love with this beefy bacon cheesey burger, and the side items were fried pickles and greenbeans. The burger was magnificent and beefy. The toppings, tomatoes, pickles, and onions were sliced just right to accent this beefy burger. The fried pickles and green beans are heavily coated in batter with a delicious flavor, but both items are spicy. I was a little disappointed in the spice level in these two side items. I was not able to enjoy either one of them. They have many other side items to try, and I will be back to enjoy! read more

Fun place for a bite to eat in Ogallala. Good dining options near lake Mac are limited and the reviews of most places are totally hit or miss, so I'm glad we chose to come here. There are tables inside but they do have an outdoor patio that is dog friendly. Not sure if smoking is allowed but one person was smoking on the patio. You order food and drinks at the counter and they bring the food out to you. The employees were very nice. They had a variety of local beers available, as well as the classic beers, some on tap. Food was good. We had burgers, fries, and salads. Nothing extraordinary, but definitely solid. I'd come here again. Note that if you are coming from another state, approaches to COVID may be different. Most people, including employees, were not wearing masks. read more

So yummy after a trip across Nebraska! Well worth the trip to Ogallala! My son and mom had the Range Burger (and ate it faster than I could take pictures) with homemade fries. Kiddo called it the best burger he's ever had, which is high praise from a rancher's son! This place is great if you are looking for a quick, inexpensive delicious meal. The Lonesome burger was super delicious and the fries are similar to Five Guys style (super tasty and hot!). The cashier was sweet and gave me a cookie free of charge. The cookies are amazing as well. Service is counter service and they call your name once tour order is ready for pick ip. Bathrooms are clean and friendly service. I have a feeling this will be a new favorite stop for Lake M visits! read more

This is truly amazing. We come thru Oogalala Nebraska occasionally. We stay at a local rv park and had this place recommended to us. First experience was mediocre service and well done burgers. We always order medium rare, and did not realize they cooked their grass fed beef to almost a crisp and destroying any flavor. That was 2 or 3 years ago. Lesson learned So this time we order medium rare on both burgers...as you can see from the pictures, his was almost rare and mine........well done, AGAIN!!!!! I do understand places are short staffed and do have patience when waiting on orders. What I do not appreciate is a meal that was ordered a specific way and not getting what I ordered. Of course this was a to go order so got back to the campground and was very disappointed!!!!!!! In addition to that hubby sat at the bar waiting for the order...no one bothered to ask him if he wanted a drink, extra business btw, when a girl finally did bother to ask he said well my order should be coming up soon I don't think I have time now...she said let me check....and never returned. He then notices that there are a stack of styrofoam containers at the other end. He goes over and says do any of these happen to be for Craig? We pulled into town and ordered take out from Open Range Grill ( thank you Yelp reviewers ! ) Traveling with poochie means that we have to do takeout. When hubby went to pick up our food, he reported back that this is a great, warm, neighborhood place, full of folks and families. He said that there looked to be a good assortment of beers. We both had steak salads and were very pleased. Lots of juicy steak and very fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onions and blue cheese. We will return! read more

Stopped in for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon (1-day prior to the big eclipse so we expected things to be busy). Busy they were. This is a solid place with mainly burgers, chicken and salad on the menu and a full bar. Order at the counter and then find a seat, they call out your name and bring you your food. Food was ok, 2 of my party got burgers. They were on the dry side and one tasted a bit gamey. I got the steak salad, lots of steak but in big blocks that had to be cut up a lot. The steak was overcooked but the greens were really good. they remembered to change out the blue cheese for cheddar (yay!). Our 10-yr old got the kids grilled cheese that didn't look very grilled when they brought it out and she was hesitant to try it but said it was really good and ate the entire thing. Not sure it's worth the rave reviews I read here. It was good, we'd probably stop again. Oh, and to one reviewers comment about the sticky tables - yes, it was very weird. Stopped by here for lunch on our way from Denver to Lake Mac... absolutely FANTASTIC service and food with great pricing. Being from a big city, we usually set the bar low for smaller towns... but everything we ordered was fantastic (including fresh greens for the steak salad) and we could not get over how friendly the whole crew was.
