I loved this place. Such an amazing tribute to the history of Ogallala, keeping the spirit of the old library alive. The service was great and the ambiance is perfect. With an outside space to enjoy the nice weather and the inside to avoid the bad weather. They were very thoughtful and intentional when they built this place. The beers were good, too! I was very impressed! Often small towns have limited options in their one or two breweries, but this one brought so much of what we all wanted together into one place. There was ample seating, both indoor and outdoor. They had non-beer options, and some gluten-free options. The bartender was very knowledgeable on what was gluten free. The decor is actually very on brand with the atmosphere the name suggests: like a library, stimulating and elegant . Hundreds of Hops US Hop Passport Amazing Brewery Race Stop 15 - 8 of 11 for Nebraska For starters, what a cool building! Set inside what was once a library. They held on to decor, books, & a ton of charm. We came in right at opening, with a couple of hours to kill. It was "Sunday Funday" & there was talk of games, which apparently rotate. This place is a treasure. When I first tried the Trashy Romance, the first thing I said was, "This is my new favorite thing." My husband enjoyed their beers and the service was great. This is a fun stop! It used to be a library and is now home to a fun brewery with different themed nights. If you're a local, you can find yearbooks from over the years to bring back great memories. The staff was fantastic in helping me decide which options to try on my flight. Wow! Wow! Wow! Second Chapter Brewing, housed in a renovated and repurposed city library building, is the real deal. Opening in January of 2023, my first visit has me looking for excuses to schedule a return trip. Cassie, the knowledgeable, helpful, patient and sweet server shared drink recommendations suggesting the "trashy romance" cider for me and the "Ogalager" for my husband after letting him sample her two recommendations. I liked the sugar and cinnamon lipped "trashy romance" as well as I liked my last romance novel--tore through it quickly and checked out a four pack for later consumption. My husband's "Ogalager" took him out of his comfort zone with a bolder taste but he also purchased a few cans to take home. Second Chapter uses the library theme in their brew names, serves flights in card catalog drawers, and uses books, library tables and lighting that strikes an image of your local Carnegie library. According to our new best friend, Cassie, the owners, have a family history in the brewing industry and consider themselves the second chapter of the family's brewing story. A relative operated an early century brewery in Hastings and another in San Francisco if my memory serves me correctly. Food may be brought in although a food truck is on property and SCB also offers a light menu. These infrequent bar and brewery patrons shut the place down, although it should be noted that they close at 9:00 pm on Thursdays.
