You can breeze through it in like 5 minutes or you can spend some time since there are several items to choose from. They even have some displays set up with some interesting things, like a replica of a 2 headed calf that was born nearby years ago. We were there in July when it was blazing hot and humid, so we skipped the tour of the fort out back that you can go on. If you need to take a break and or want to get some souvenirs you should stop in.

(It looked a lot like my bookshelf at home, with many of the same books!) Looking at the inscription on the inside of the book, as well as knowing about the Japanese community in the area, I could figure out whose collection it had come from. That's the thing about used bookstores or thrift shops in a community, that eventually things get recycled. So for anyone in the North Platte area interested in Japanese- American history, this is your rare opportunity to buy some incredible books. The collection is very good, including many books about the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, the most highly decorated World War II fighting unit made up of Nisei.
