The food used to be good here but it's just been awful. Stop cheaping out on food or something. Staff don't even look happy to be there. $85 for 3 people to unhappy with the horrible food. The food took forever! For burgers, the wait should not be 40 minutes! And then, my patty melt was also dry and overcooked. Our server was nice enough, but seemed to be spread thin. The other yelp reviews are accurate - service is very, very slow. The food was just ok. My wife liked her burger; I thought the pork chop had so much butter that it was borderline gross. Could Be Great, but.... The hostess stand is in the middle of the restaurant, not easy to find. The hostesses were flustered and not focused on seating guests. Once seated, we had to wait for our waitress to get around to us. She was no help with describing the beer selections or the pasta in the menu. Our food was good, but my fries were not hot. There are not many places in this area that are decent dining choices and Driftwood could be the exception....if the staff were better trained. Stumbled across this place for lunch - was nice that we were immediately seated and tended to. We ordered a spinach artichoke dip and two steak salads. The spinach artichoke dip never came out sadly. The place was not packed, but our waitress was covering a large area so that might be why it wasn't noticed. The salads came out and only had 4 pieces of steak each, which was disappointing for a $19 salad. The steak was seasoned well and the salads were good, but we wished they had more protein. read more

While I'm from Denver I always make a stop at Driftwood when traveling through or staying in Nebraska. Great food selections, all burgers are great, my favorite is the Lonesome Dove, BBQ sauce, bacon, cheese and an onion ring, how can you go wrong with that. They have an amazing selection of bottled and drift beer as well as some local crafts. My favorite is the Infusion Vanilla Bean Blonde, I always refill my growler with this one. Second is the Jalapeño Cream Ale! They have live music on weekends and it's always a nice treat. Service is always great, the kitchen closes a bit early but maybe folks in Ogallala go to bed early anyway. They are close to the main highway and open for lunch, if you are passing through I highly recommend stopping by Driftwood. read more

My husband and I visited on a Friday night (7/25). It was a beautiful night and I really wanted to sit in the outdoor seating area. The hostess cleaned a table of a couple that just left so that we could eat out there right away! She was so quick and I wish I got her name so she could be recognized! Our server was also great; especially for having inside and outside tables! I got a double BLT sandwich and my husband got the sirloin steak! Both were delicious and the steak was perfectly cooked! Which says a lot because we cook at home 95% of the time and do not go out often. Way better than any Texas Road House. We will definitely visit again if we drive through the area again! read more

A nice find on the Prairie! Staying nearby on our way home we decided to drop into the Driftwood. It is clearly one of the hotspots in town. Completely renovated it has a open and contemporary feel. Big full bar also allows keno players to gamble while they have a beverage! A complete list of handcrafted cocktails and an exceptionally long list of draft beer makes this even more enticing. We stopped in for dinner, and had some excellent burgers and steaks. Nothing like Nebraska beef! Our server was excellent and we'll be sure to stop back in here again. Prices are reasonable and street parking is very accessible. Live music on occasion so check out the calendar. read more

Stopped for lunch on a cross-country drive and we were pleasantly surprised by an excellent experience at Driftwood. It is a large, clean, and homey restaurant and sportsbar/music venue, located in the quaint old west downtown. Service was excellent: our server was friendly, attentive, and offered spot-on recommendations. We both had burgers: a patty melt and the OG Burger, and both were excellent. The meat was fresh and tasty, as it should be here in the heart of cattle country. Instead of fries we both opted for salads, which were fresh and generous. Portions are substantial and quality is high. After we finished our meals, we spoke for a while with our server, who offered great recommendations for our route North to Mt. Rushmore, providing tips on good spots to visit in the Badlands. All in, a great meal and excellent oasis on a long journey. Definitely worth a stop. read more

Like a flower blooming in the desert, the Driftwood shows Ogallala is starting to emerge from the pandemic. Great beer, and a tasty chef salad chock full of goodies. Had the club sandwich on rye and it had a nice pile of turkey, ham and bacon. The fries were super delicious and thick and crunchy. Waitress was nice and the wait wasn't bad given how busy it was. Our poor server had an enormous table of people and she was EXCEPTIONAL. She remembered everyone's drink order, even though people were mingling. She brought the food out as fast as she could. She never stopped smiling through it. I don't know why management didn't have 2 servers for this event. The food was fine. Unfortunately 4 of the people didn't get meals. Solid lunch choice! Our go to lunch stop is closed on Tuesday so landed here. Highly recommend. The place is big, bright and clean. Lots of seating and HUGE booths. Large bar with multiple large screen TVs. A game room in the back looked like fun too. Good variety of food choices on the menu, enough for the vegetarian in our group to have options. Traveling and stopped at Driftwood per recommendation of the hotel reception. Waited for over 30 minutes after being seated and couldn't even get a glass of water. We heard from her as we were leaving that she was very happy with our departure. The food is amazing. Atmosphere is great and the staff is so sweet. However, the manager, is absolutely nasty. We were here as a family one day. The food was so good we came back the next night. Our server, Sahara was AMAZING and so sweet. She joked with us and was so much fun. The bartender, Nova, was so rude. She was nasty to me and dismissed my mom. Her attitude and nastiness alone will make sure we never spend our money here again. We own a vacation home on Lake Mac. We won't be back to Driftwood. Ogalala does not have a lot to offer but if you're looking for a restaurant with GOOD food and a nice vibe, this is the only place you'll find it within 30 miles of Lake McConaughy. After realizing that literally nothing else was open on a Tuesday night, my husband and I were grateful to find this restaurant. The service was amazing. Our particular server was very busy but he took the time to chat, answer questions and was very diligent in keep us fed and happy. I had the Ruben and it was by far some of the best corned beef I've ever had! My husband had a burger and again, very good! The beers on tap were also great and we even bought some swag. Stopped here for lunch on our way home from Lake McConnaughy. Such a huge place, very inviting and lots of room for big groups with roomy booths and tables. We ordered the Ranch Cheese Curds to start they were delicious . My husband had the Rueben which was great and good sized. I ordered the Cajun Shrimp Alfredo Pasta it was spicy and delicious. It did have a little more oil than I'd like but it was so tasty . My daughter got the kids cheeseburger with fries it was awesome for kids meals! I could go on and on about the Driftwood and how its owners are the greatest, patrons are friendly and how they have great bands, but I'll focus on a few items. Their brisket sando and French dip are my favorites, yet their burgers and different types of fries and onion rings hold their own. But then if you're serious you'll want to order the Mac n cheese with pulled pork, it was incredible. I'd also have zero problem recommending any one of their specials or the cheese curds or the nachos or the Philly cheesesteak and/or the hot honey chicken sando. All in all, come for the food, stay for the drinks. Oh darn, I hadn't even mentioned the drinks yet. We're talking full bar with a great selection of Nebraska local beers.
