North 40, which we dined at based on our hotel front staff lady's recommendation, turned out to be a pleasant, reasonably decent and unassuming destination. All their parking lots were full so we expected the worst when we pulled up, but it turned out not to be very full so must have been parking poachers. Service was not super fast but OK. We had the salmon atop mashed potatoes, a Caesar salad, the poblano soup, and the chicken fried steak (don't get this). Cocktails good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]An agreeable place to have dinner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

When in Nebraska, enjoy some of the best steak in the country! Touring cross country through the sand hills, I had my heart set on an amazing steak. And we found it at North 40 Chophouse! What a gorgeous restaurant. Jasmine was our waitress and provided us with everything we could possibly need along with a few extras. From the handcrafted drinks, the bread, the filet, and all the way to the sweet ending - banana pudding. Jim, the manager gave us a tour of the facilities and the wine cellar. Don't miss a photo op with the bull or give him a rub on the head on your way out. We will definitely be back !

Passing through on a road trip. We decided a steak was due. Dry aging locker out front looks great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restaurant itself is nicely decorated but not over the top and unwelcoming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff was very knowledgeable and being a first visit educated us on the facility well. Plenty of choices, not just steaks. Lots of cuts to choose from wet and dry aged. I got a dry aged delmonico, aged well not overly funky and trimmed very well (no hard pellicle left behind). A friend of mine owns a steakhouse back home so I can be picky as he runs a tight ship. North 40 seems to be doing everything right. If you want dry aged beef or have a craving for a legit steak here it is.

Our…read moreserver, Kayla, was very professional, never let our drinks get empty, and had great recommendations. We got the Brussel Sprouts for an app. They had a delicious sauce and they were cooked to perfection. The French Dip was the real star of the show. The meat was so tender and was probably the best French dip I ever had. The sweet potato fries come with a marshmallow/cinnamon dipping sauce that is very good if you like your sweets. We polished off dinner with the salted caramel lava cake. It was delightful. It was so refreshing to be surprised by how wonderful this restaurant was and how nice the employees were. I can't wait to come back someday

We were driving across country and decided to pull over in North Platte for the evening. I looked…read morefor a restaurant recommendation and found The Cedar Room. We walked in and there are two large rooms, one dining and one bar/dining area. There is a small bar at the far end that sits around 6 or seven people. We were sat near the window and our server was Penny who was excellent. Penny constantly checked in with us and we were never left wait for service. When it came to ordering wine/cocktails, we were immediately put off by the price of wine. The bottles have an approximate 75% mark up on retail. Way overpriced. You don't see these prices even in the most expensive of steakhouses in my opinion. A glass of wine was the price of a bottle at retail. We elected to go with cocktails. For appetizers, we ordered the Wild Mushroom Brie & Ciabatta. $19 Seared Brie Cheese, brandy glazed belle mushrooms, balsamic reduction, fig chutney; served with Ciabatta toast points. This was good. Cowboy Calamari. $19 Breaded Flat iron sirloin steak bites, fried; served with gravy. I was so looking forward to these but I couldn't even taste the meat.....at all! They were so overly breaded and the steak cut so thin that we felt we were just eating the breading. The gravy was tasty but we couldn't finish the steak bites as we just didn't taste any steak. We split a Cedar Room Wedge. $16 Iceberg, bacon bits, tomatoes, cucumbers, blue cheese crumbles; served with dressing of choice. They split it on two plates and basically did a deconstructed salad. It was fine. After not having a great experience with the food and prices of their wine, we elected to leave and skip the dinner. Although we loved our server Penny and it was a cute establishment, we probably would not return.

When I…read morechecked-in at my hotel I asked if there was any place I could get a steak at that hour (I mean, when in Rome?) She was doubtful because of the hour, but checked and Nebraska Rib & Chop House was still open, so I headed right over to get a steak to take out. When I got there the host/hostess was nowhere to be seen, so eventually the bartender came over to take care of me. I knew I wanted a NY strip, but my brain was too tired to make decisions about soup or salad and what kind of side I wanted, so the bartender talked me through it - they had a bison chili as one of their soups that was really good, the scalloped potatoes are one of the most popular sides but the garlic mushrooms with the steak just chef's kiss. So I went with the chili and the mushrooms, steak medium rare. The bartender offered me a glass of water while I waited and I was happy to sit at the bar grooving to the 80's tunes they had playing. My order came up quickly and I was on my way in about 15 minutes. I have to admit that I didn't really think through eating a take out steak with plasticware, but for the most part it was tender enough to work. The steak was closer to rare than medium rare but still delicious, and my pups got a few of the rarer pieces. I would have enjoyed the mushrooms with my steak more if they were sliced, but it still worked. The bison chili was indeed delicious. I'd come here again the next time I'm passing through.

We chose The Station on a Saturday night and weren't surprised when we were told there would be about a 30-minute wait. We told the hostess we were going to the bar to have a drink while we waited for our table. After waiting 45 minutes, we checked on our table only to be told that because they saw us sitting at the bar, they had given our table away. No one came to let us know it was ready, despite us asking them to. That was incredibly disappointing. Since we had already waited so long, we decided to stay and order food at the bar, hoping another table would open up. Unfortunately, we were never offered a table even though the restaurant was now less than half full. We were never seated at a table for our meal. The six bar stools were arranged in a straight line, and I ended up at one end of the bar. Between the distance and the loud noise level, I couldn't even carry on a conversation with four of my friends--the very reason we had gotten together. The service continued to disappoint. Our group of six ordered at the same time, yet four meals were served first. The last two of us, who had each ordered hamburgers, didn't receive our food until after the other four had completely finished eating. No explanation was offered, and no one attempted to make the situation right. To add to the frustration, two of us ordered the exact same drink, but they were served in noticeably different-sized glasses while we were both charged the same price. The food itself was good and offered some unique menu options, which is the reason I'm giving more than one star. However, the overall experience was frustrating. What should have been a fun evening catching up with friends turned into a series of disappointments. Good food can only make up for so much when the service and overall experience fall this short. Sadly, after this experience, I'm not sure I'll be returning defiantly not with more than three people.
