We really enjoyed Luigi's! It checked all of the boxes for quality Italian food with both northern and southern Italian dishes and the server was friendly and efficient. The red sauce was tasty (not bland like so many Italian places nowadays) and the mussels were fresh and well prepared, and Fred enjoyed the linguine with white sauce. Such a charming spot for a home cooked dish of pasta! Traveling can make you miss a home cooked meal... there are only so many road side snacks you can eat before you crave a salad or a hot meal... I was surfing door dash for delivery food in the hotel and stumbled on luigis! I opted to eat in the restaurant. I'm so glad I did... tossed salad with Dorothy Lynch dressing, and fettuccine alfredo with broccoli... perfectly cooked and a large enough portion for leftovers... Found this place by chance. Wow! It did NOT disappoint!. We had a great server (rats, did not get her name.) We were there about 4:00 and ordered the Caesar salad and split the tour of Italy plate. It was fantastic! The salad fresh, the dressing delicious. The main dish had lasagna, chicken Parmesan, and Alfredo fettuccine; the marinara sauce was great, so was the Alfredo sauce. It came with a little loaf of bread too. We also split the cannoli. The cream sauce? Mercy! So rich and yummy! We had a very good and pleasant meal and will definitely plan on visiting it the next time we are driving through the area. Typically, you would expect your dinner salad and bread to arrive well before your main dish. And, she was very surprised that we hadn't received our salad and bread; like someone else was supposed to bring it to us. Anyway, when I took my first bite of chicken parmesan, I very quickly thought; this is, Not, a chicken breast. I ordered a lasagna which is one my favorite things from there got my food took a couple bites found a giant chunk of plastic. Let my server know he offered to have it remade a couple minutes later brought out the same lasagna from before (I knew bc it had the same chunks taken out from when I had previously eaten it before I found the plastic). So they didn't even remake my food or even offer a discount or anything to make it right. Considering I could have choked on the plastic since it was pretty large. My server Veronica was fabulous- there when I needed her, gave recommendations, and makes a great Luigi's salad! I started with the salad (just did an upgrade as a salad comes with all the entrees). It was nice and fresh and just what I needed. Went very traditional for dinner- lasagna. Let me tell you, when it came I thought no way I can eat this much but it was SO good that's exactly what I did. Food was very good. Chicken Parm, calamari, all great. But tried using a $100 gift card for a $89 meal (not including tip). Was told the card was declined multiple times, but they finally got it to work by running several smaller charges. They told me they could only charge 83 on the card, told me there was about $6 left to pay. So i paid that with my bank card, and left a $15 cash tip. When I got back to the hotel I found there was 40 cents left on the gift card (and verified Luigi's charged a total of $99.60 on the gift card). So I paid 99.60 + 6 + 15 = about $121 for a 89 bill, because they don't know how to process a Visa gift card. Beware of incompetent staff. read more

The place smelled great but the service was soooooo slow. Had to flag down the only busser to get water because we waited so long to get someone to ask us what we wanted. We asked for a second glass of wine but we're almost done with our dinner before it finally arrived. We also thought it was closed on Mondays because they say so online and on their menu even though they said "we switched back last year" well maybe update both. If the gal at our hotel hadn't told us someone had just placed an order we would've gone somewhere else believing it was closed. I'm not even sure where to start with this review. We came here while on a road trip. Asked several people where we should go and Luigi's was what was recommended. We got sat right away. I asked the server about specials because I noticed there was a scallop risotto on the daily specials. I love scallops and risotto. I asked the server how large the scallops were and she told me the size of a quarter. They came out and they were not even as big as a dime. Plus, they tasted extremely "fishy" and rubbery. If that wasn't bad enough the risotto came out like soup and the grains were mush. After my first bite, I asked the server if I could get something else as this was not what I was expecting and didn't like it. Her response was "you are going to have to pay for that". Being in the service industry for years, I didn't expect that type of response. The manager came over and confirmed that they can not take it off my bill. She informed me that if I wanted something else, I would be charged for it as well. I never once asked for anything to be taken off my bill even though I did expect it. But never asked for it. This should just be done if food is not up to the customers standards. They both just came over talking about how I had to pay for it. Never once, say they apologized. The server did recommend this dish over the other dish that I wanted to order. I was planning on order the Chicken Primavera. The server told me that it wasn't good. So I went with her suggestion. I wonder how bad the other dish would have been if this was considered "good". Overall, bad service, bad management and bad food. read more

Our hotel suggested Luigi's. The restaurant was busy, but only had to wait a few minutes to be seated. Our server was very attentive and was extremely helpful. We ordered the spaghetti with sausage and meatballs and the veal piccata. Both dishes were very good. We finished the meal the the limoncello cake and crème brûlée. Both were outstanding! Service a bit slow, I did appreciate a choice of dressings for the salad, many times an italian place forces the house italian as the only option. The bread was excellent but needed to come with butter or dipping oil not just bread. I had the works spaghetti it was quite good, strawberry cheezecake also good. This place is not fancy by any standards, better than Fazoli's less than Carrabbas. Price value for the money and quantity was quite good. Color scheme of the outside still looks like the old Dairy Queen that it was and a bit shabby looking, the inside is totally redone without going super fancy. I would go back again. read more

The food at Luigi's was delicious! We stayed at a hotel not to far from there and we're told that they delivered. The menu looked awesome so we were sad when the woman over the phone told us they didn't have any delivery staff working that night. My dad explained that we weren't able to drive and she said she would ask her manager if she could run it out. Lo and behold that's exactly what she did! Additionally, we asked for many adjustments like a side of balsamic glaze and they provided!! Definitely recommend (especially the ricotta pizza which I added mushrooms, spinach, and sausage). It was late on Thursday night when we finally stopped to eat. Luckily Luigi's was open. We got a table right away and the servers were very friendly. Our friends ordered the Chef special and the pasta combo. My husband ordered the tortellini with pink sauce and I got lasagna. We got the garlic cheese bread based on the pics on Yelp as an appetizer. Tried Dorothy Lynch dressing for the first time. Similar to French but better. The food has become mediocre and your choices are few. For example I wanted penne with marinara and Italian sausage. They don't allow that selection so I had to get the "Spaghetti Works" and they took off the meatballs, meat sauce and mushrooms for the same price-$14.95. Too expensive considering you don't get even a small salad with your meal. Also the waitress said she would bring us a 2nd roll but she "forgot". There were only 4 total occupied tables in the entire restaurant (and 2 waitresses), so how do you forget?? IMHO it was clear that our party of 3 was not as attractive as the table of 8 all ordering alcoholic drinks with their dinner. Probably won't be back. My money spends just as well elsewhere. I did not have the highest expectations of this place from the outside, but boy was I wrong. They have a huge menu which a lot of times makes me nervous, I like a place that does a few things really well rather than a lot of things just OK. But this place continued to defy expectations as they did everything amazing! The food was delicious, we had a huge party of almost 20 people and the wait staff was funny and engaged and the food came out pretty quickly for that large of an order and everything I tried was fantastic. Service is very good, welcoming, and fast. First I ordered a delicious Caesar salad with Romaine lettuce. It cost $2.00 more for Romaine but it was well worth it! I'm allergic to head lettuce. Food is delicious and tasted homemade! We always have enough to eat. Homemade baked bread to go with your meal melts in your mouth, So delicious! I usually order the "Pasta Sampler" with a glass of Moscato, and my friend always gets the egg parmigiana. I haven't tried the cannoli yet, but I think they have the best tasting, major delicious tiramisu dessert in town! This restaurant is nice and cozy, not too big and noisy. Families are welcome too! I wanted to like this place. Really, I did! I can't speak for service because we ordered takeout. We ordered the pasta combo because we were starving and wanted to try a little of everything. We also ordered spaghetti and meatballs and extra rolls. The combo was interesting in that everything tasted the same. Pasta was over cooked and tasted like the most generic brand you'd find on a grocery shelf. Sauce had tomato flavor but not much else. It was so bland and unseasoned. The Italian sausage was very powerful. More powerful than I could handle so if you like heavily seasoned Italian sausage, this might be right for you, and that's good! The spaghetti was also WAY over cooked, it just mushed in the mouth. Really disappointed as I had high hopes. The rolls were cooked to the perfect doneness and had a strong yeast flavor. Maybe we ordered the wrong food. Maybe they were off that night. I hope there's a better Italian place in town. I'm sure some locals love this place, but if you are searching for the best Italian, maybe stick with a pizza place in North Platte? read more

Traveling through the state, we are staying in North Platte, NE. After a long day in the car and getting checked into the hotel, we were starving. The first place we stopped for dinner scared me so we left and ended up at Luigi's. Thank goodness we didn't stick with the original option because Luigi's was perfect for dinner. Luigi's is a hometown, no frills, Italian restaurant. What it lacks in ambiance is more than makes up for with quality and delicious food. The wife and I both ordered entrees that came with a starter of the fluffier, softest, yeast type rolls about the size of a softball. Served warm which was a bonus. Each entree also came with a nice sized garden salad with fresh tomato chunks and thinly sliced red onion. She opted for the homemade Italian dressing and I went with the scratch made Ranch. Excellent. The wife ordered the baked manicotti that was covered in a delicious marinara sauce and plenty of melted mozzarella. She loved it. The scrimppy bite she gave me was good. I opted for the spaghetti carbonara. It was different than any other carbonara I have ever had. This one came with standard hunks of ham, but also tomatoes and mushrooms. It was also in a tomato alfredo type sauce. While not your standard carbonara, it was still really good. I just wished I had left the mushrooms off as I despise mushrooms. Overall, it was very good. While we may never get to North Platte again, if we do, Luigi's will be the spot we dine at. Bonus: the butter for the rolls was at room temperature which I like. I hate it when the butter us hard as a rock and tears the roll. read more
