I had never been to an Applebee's before and I will probably never go to one again. It was late, I was exhausted and hungry, and it was the only place open and it shared a parking lot with my hotel. I ordered a steak and I cannot state this emphatically enough, this was BY FAR THE WORST STEAK I had ever had in my life, by a mile. It was like trying to cut through a deflated football, but somehow, still raw in the middle. Not undercooked, raw. Listen I love Applebees just as much as any other warm blooded American but, this one was a flop. I like to try a new place every time I come to north platte since there is so many. So when my girlfriend said Applebees I thought wow I get some nostalgia from Father's Day with my dad as a kid. Let's just say the service is not what it used to be. The parking lot only had a few cars I figured get in eat get out. Apparently our hostess had a different idea. We walked in to a full waiting area and 3 families at tables. In the entire restaurant. 5 minutes goes by of this hostess fumbling her words walking around doing nothing. The family ahead of us gets seated. 5 people. They all got drinks from a waitress while we stood there. At this point there is me, my girlfriend and her 1 year old son with us, and an elderly lady by herself. We are looking at people eating in an empty restaurant and waiting for no reason. Finally she comes back after around 10 more minutes. With a bundle of napkins. Proceeds to open the package, and put them all in her work station. While telling us about it. I for one do not fucking care. I'm looking at an empty restaurant and standing here holding a kid. When she was done she says " I'll be right back I need to go clean these tables" I then asked her what was wrong with all the clean empty tables. Fumbles with her words I shook my head she walked away. I'm not sure what she did for another 5 minutes but I'm sure she didn't clean a table. They were all tipped up. Now we finally get to go sit. She asks if we want a high chair for the little kid. Yes thanks. Never brings it. Moving on I guess whatever Our waitress was very nice. The food was very mediocre at best not a shining moment. Stopped in on our way across the state. Ate off the lunch menu which is very reasonable for the amount of food. I had the House clubhouse grille with a Caesar salad for $6.99. My wife had the three cheese chicken penne for $10.99. Then we had a kids meal of chicken Alfredo and green beans for $6.99 as well. They were out of a few options such as broccoli the day we were there but the green beans were great! My sandwich and salad were both solid. My wife didn't love her pasta it had a lot of tomatoes in it that weren't in the description. Service was friendly and fast. There was a group of older women doing a Christmas gift exchange nearby which made it a fun vibe as well. Changing table in the bathroom wasn't the best but worked. Overall it was an Applebees decent food and service was good. Nice and easy off the interstate to stop and let the baby stretch her legs. read more

Went to the bar, ordered a couple drinks then ordered some carry out food. Specifically requested utensils. Got the order, paid, walked back to my hotel next door. No utensils, no napkins, no salt/pepper, no condiments. On a carry out order. Incompetence or cost savings screw customer. I called the manager. " Sorry we can't bring those to the hotel." Which is 250 feet away. So if I want it I have to walk back. Just such poor customer service. No wonder Applebee's are failing. read more

Stopped in for a late lunch on our way back from dropping our daughter off at college in S.D. We entered the restaurant and there wer 2 seperate sets of two parties waiting to be seated, we had a party of 8 and were told it would be a 15-30 min wait. The parking lot was almost empty, and there were less than 10 tables with people at them, basically the restaurant was empty !! I could understand if they were packed and full but that was hardly the case. Irritating to say the least, especially when you see empty table all over the place. read more

Service was incredible, our waitress was very sweet and friendly and helpful. However the atmosphere of the place is gross, the floors are extremely sticky and our plates and forks were not clean. My food came out wrong I ordered no cheese on my burger because I'm lactose intolerant and it came with cheese. As well my food came out cold. read more

This was hands down the worst dining experience I've ever had. We were on a trip and expected a quick bite. The bathroom looked like a disaster zone. I ordered yogurt for my one-year-old, and the spoon was crusted with old food. The yogurt itself was suspiciously lumpy and clearly off. The Caesar salad I received wasn't very good tasting lettuce and I couldn't bring myself to eat most of it. We had to ask them to pack it to go because it took so long and we needed to get back on the road. When I got in my car and took a bite of my chicken sandwich before driving, it was like biting into a dry bun with completely overdone dry chicken. Tossed it and bought McDonald's. Not a good experience. Sat at bar and though it wasn't busy the service was slow. They didn't have what I wanted from the menu so I went with a steak. Took a long time and came out very rare and full of gristle. Young bartender was disengaged. I took one bite and gave it back. Paid for my beer and went across the street for a meal. I've stopped in this Applebee's several times over the last six years and it's been predictable with decent service. It's gone downhill in my opinion and I won't return. Bartender on 4/30 at 8:00 pm was extremely rude and insisted I order a drink if I were to sit at the bar even after I told we her I was trying to figure out what I wanted to drink first. First time I was ridiculed for wanted to eat dinner at the bar. Last time we had a great experience here. This time the bartender was extremely rude and then had the net to rile her eyes and walk away when I had questions about the menu. Friendly staff. Good Applebees food. Bar area is pretty unkept when they are busy. They don't wipe it down ever, just clear plates. You have to ask them to wipe it down, and they will just try to refill your glass rather than give you a fresh one. read more

Excellent meal at the Applebee's in North Platte, Nebraska. My wife had the Fiesta Lime Chicken, and I had a Cheeseburger. We also had an order of onion rings. Both meals were cooked to perfection, just as we have come to expect from Applebee's. We were on the way home from a week vacation in Colorado, were hungry for a good meal, and we got it! Our meal was at about 3:00 p.m., both of us used the restroom facilities, and I can report that they were pretty clean even at this late hour. Good job Applebee's! read more

Not your typical Applebees. And not in a good way The lights are kept dim leaving a feeling of less than clean. The overflowing trash can at Reception didn't help. We waited over an hour for a cold steak and even colder mashed potatoes. Several people came and went before we got our food. Waiter was not attentive and ice tea was left unreplenished. My family and I stopped into Applebees this evening after a long day on the road. Within moments of being seated we were greeted by the very personable and highly efficient server, Jake who moved seamlessly back and forth between his other customers and our table, taking drink orders and delivering them within a few moments of our sitting down. Jake did not miss a beat- he took our appetizer and dinner orders, checked in throughout the meal, delivered refills, kept out table bussed and brought the check, which was accurate, in a timely manner with a genuine smile. We received 5 star service. We ordered the appetizer sampler- the quesadilla was good, the mozzarella sticks crisp and warm. For dinner, the Southwest Chicken Bowl was delicious and the other entrees were mediocre. We are giving an extra star due to our server because eating out extends beyond the food- it is an experience. read more

Bartender told many people....staff and customers she was going to have a nervous breakdown due to how busy she was. From what we saw they weren't busy. The French Onion Soup was great with the cheese and breading. The 5-cheese macaroni did not have 5 cheeses or enough as it was barely cheesy. It's your typical pit stop casual restaurant that has a large variety and specials on the menu. Your service is average. read more

She said that there was a lot of to go orders but in the hour we were there we didn't see one to go order go out. She was very rude to us and then walked back to the kitchen. We were asking the bar tender for the manager when another server who wasn't even our server came out and started talking crap to us. Not the best time we've been there. Waitress took forever to get our appetizer out and then a couple of minutes later brought out our meal. Then disappeared for like 30 minutes and didn't refill our drinks till the very end. They put up all the chairs and swept and mopped around us. Very rude. We had lunch at the Applebee's in North Platte today. I ordered a house salad. 1/3 of the lettuce was black and rotten, and two pieces of lettuce that were not, themselves rotten, had large plops of slimy, dark material on them. I showed it to the waitress and she asked me what I thought it was. I said that it looked like shit. The waitress said she would bring it to the manager's attention. A manager never talked to us about it, the waitress didn't address it again, even though there were more plops of the slimy goo found in my salad.
