I got into North Platte after driving all day and was in no mood to get in my car again. Capone's was across the parking lot so I walked over and rolled the dice. First off my server, Crystal, was great. She was super helpful, very personable, not overbearing - just excellent. I ordered a 10 inch pepperoni and jalapeño pizza and a side of fries. The fries were crinkle cut fries. They don't come salted, which is fine because she told me they didn't and I just added salt myself. There was nothing special about them. They were just crinkle cut fries. The pizza was a hand tossed crust, clearly not frozen or a shell which is delightful. Cheese was good pepperoni was a little crispy, which I really like, but you don't really get a lot and the jalapeños were crispy and zippy. The overall taste was good. The sauce was a little nondescript, but on the whole I thought it was really good. I would definitely get it again if I'm in North Platte. As far as ambience goes, a casual dining spot with a bar. My mom and I went to Capones tonight for dinner. She ordered salmon with mashed potatoes and hash browns. I ordered the daily special and it was steak bites with sweet potato fries and coleslaw, as well as 2 dinner rolls. The rolls must have been heated in the microwave because they were tough. The salmon was good, but the white gravy on the mashed potatoes had a lot of pepper in them. Initially the waitress forgot to bring the mashed potatoes. The hash browns were also good. The steak bites were overdone and had a lot of pepper on them. They were tough to chew. The sweet potatoes were good, but the meal wasn't worth $21.00. We were not asked if we wanted dessert. She just gave us the bill. We felt very rushed. We won't be going to Capones anymore. It's not worth driving all the way out there for a mediocre experience. Staying in town on our way to Yellowstone we debated on restaurants to eat at. We always try to eat local and after looking at this place and initially skipping it we eventually just decided to give it a shot since it's literally right by the hotel. A choice I regret now. First of all, our server was great and friendly. The restaurant seems nice...The food is pretty pricey. We were planning on eating at several pizza places on this trip so I skipped the pizza on the menu, especially since they run $17 for a small 10in. Instead I ordered a shrimp basket. For $16 I got 6 miniature fried shrimp. Smaller than my thumb, and I have small hands. I've seen kids meals with more food. I finished my shrimp in less than 2 minutes. My basket also came with crinkle cut fries which were just as disappointing as all crinkle cut fries are. Other than the friendly service the only thing that saved this restaurant from getting less than 3 stars was my mom's Huge bowl of clam chowder and salad for $10. The red velvet cake for about $7 was good too. Overall though I wish we had picked a different restaurant as I still left hungry. read more

I drive out to Colorado from CT 3 times a year and have had a bunch of meals in Nebraska. The burgers never disappoint. But the mushroom Swiss at Capone's was the best burger I have ever eaten. I give it 3 star because the inside of the restaraunt looked nice and clean. The hostess was polite. And the atmosphere was welcoming. I ordered The Boss omlette. It's supposed to be a huge 4 egg omlette with ham, bacon, etc., and it came with hasbrowns and toast. This thing looked like IT was the one who was hungry!! If this is what they call a 4 egg omlette, then they honestly do not know food!! I've had 4 egg omlettes, and they were loaded with ingredients. This poor omlette was flat, and the ingredients were scarce. Where's the cheese? Where's the meats? Where's the 4 egg omlette that actually looks like a starving 3 egg omlette? Now, the hashbrowns... oh lordy... they were crisp like I asked, but just like the omlette, where's the hashbrowns? It looked like a serving of maybe a half cup, or slightly more? This meal was very sad for the price. You'd think a 4 egg omlette meal named The Boss would be filling, right? Lol, not even close. This "huge" mealed omlette is an embarrassment to omlettes everywhere!! They should rename it from The Boss to The Peasant, or The Ethiopian, or The Homeless. Seriously... Look at the image... Does this look like a healthy 4 egg omlette that should be stuffed with ingredients? I have not touched this before the picture. Nice presentation, too!! *eyes roll* Granted, this is a top-down view, but it WAS a skinny omlette. I had originally debated about trying a burger here. If this is what their biggest omlette, The Boss, looks like, then I'm afraid to see what the burgers look like. Needless to say, my first experience here will be my last. Why pay for a meal and still feel hungry afterwards? Im not a huge guy who can eat a buffet out of business. But my appetite could handle a 4 egg omlette and feel satisfied. There are other restaraunts around I can try and enjoy next time im in the area. Unless this is Nebraskas way of saying "come here hungry... leave just slightly less hungry." Great cinnamon roll to begin. Sure is...was good. I prefer the plain ones vs with nuts. My Mother always made the plain kind and brown sugar/butter frosted. And our group of 4 had various sandwiches, salad. I had a Griddle Mix...not sure exact name. Was hash browns, sausage, and added eggs over easy, onions, jalapeños, all requested burnt. This town needs a good spot for a sit down breakfast. It is a big big place with all the room you could need. It was pretty early but we were quickly seated and our coffee and iced tea arrived right away. Our server was spot on and I was glad of that. Another server wandered around aimlessly it seemed and didn't seem to be contributing. While my breakfast was hot and it did not take much time to arrive, it lacked flavor. The portion was not small, it just need some salt, maybe some pepper too. I'm not done trying the breakfast at Capone's because it is easy to get to and the service was amazing. read more

A new restaurant and it's in the initial stages. Our waitress was very pleasant and made the meal enjoyable. Only a couple of weeks old makes any establishment go through growing pains. They seem to have the potential to be really good. Our meal was fine and the sides were really good. I especially enjoyed the homemade potato salad. Our entrees were chicken fried chicken and the walleye. The sides were backed potato, French onion soup, green beans and potato salad. The restaurant itself is open, light and welcoming making for a relaxing and comfortable experience. The food was good. We ordered the onion rings as an appetizer, the chicken strips dinner and the club wrap substituting the fries for the chips. All were cooked well and tasted good. This is a new restaurant to North Platte, they left the airport and built a beautiful brand new building just right off the interstate. Food was 4/5, the ribeye was realllllly pink and wasn't cooked all the way through to liking and my SIL didn't finish half of it, and I personally didn't enjoy the beer cheese soup, it was too sweet for me, which is weird because I don't imagine a soup being sweet. We had an order of $6 onion rings & $10 basket of cheese curds, would definitely skip the curds and stick with the onion rings. We shared a 10" pepperoni & sausage pizza, perfect for 2 people and no leftovers. The waitress was clumsy she was bringing our apps out and tripped or something & spilled right in front of us half our ranch out on the floor and knocked a couple cheese curds & onion rings out of the baskets (and didn't replace the ones she spilled- so that was less food which stunk) she was trying to joke & talked about spilling drinks earlier and spilling more food which was a little too much info. She also never checked on us after she delivered us our main food, and didn't once the whole time refill any of our drinks, I set both empty glasses on the side of the table so she would see them as she walked by our table. She was younger so she has time to learn hopefully a supervisor or manager will help her out with balance & refills. Absolutely terrible! Had the worst waitress, sat there for thirty minutes just to get our drink order then never asked us if you needed refills the rest of the time we were there. We got there at 12:30 it was dead and we still left at 2:00 since she took forever to come back and take our meal order. Waited 50 minutes for our meal when it was just basic sandwiches and breakfast items. Food was meh, cold and under seasoned, fries were soggy. Just overall terrible service. It's called a "bar in grill" needs to be called a mediocre diner at best. Probably won't go there again unless someone else suggests it but I will NEVER suggest this place to people. We were seated in the main part but I still looked in the bar area and it looked pathetic. read more
