Always heard about Opa Grille as being so very good. Although we did not eat in, since we decided to order this evening, I picked up. Reasonably priced, great service, shocked at the weight of my order, only ordered (4) items. Everything we ordered was fantastic. I had my usual Hummus appetizer, along with my Greek Salad, and Spanakopita, and wifey had the Seafood Combo with rice and lemon soup. We had a great take out experience from Opa. The dip trio was delicious - hummus, feta and tzatziki with two pitas on the side. My husband and I both for a gyro and I had a Greek salad on the side. It was our first time to try Opa Grill! Upon opening the door you see a typical Greek kitchen where you can see the pits gyros, and the cooks ,the smell was incredible. We were greeted by Anna immediately & were seated in a small the dining room.We ordered Greek red wine, which enhanced our appetite, next was Lemon chicken soup, which was delicious ,with Just the right amount of everything.Anna assured us the grilled octopus was a favorite ,which was appealing to our eyes,tender & tasty and so delicious!A traditional Greek salad was next. My husband and I found out about this place through a neighbor. It's located right by the Bethpage LIRR so street parking can be a little tight. If you have a LIRR parking permit or visit after rush hour, then parking shouldn't be an issue. We ordered their Chicken Gyro and Chicken Souvlaki lunch specials. The lunch specials came with a cup of soup and a Greek salad. We are big fans of their tomato orzo soup but they only had lemon chicken soup or mushroom barley soup that day. We tried their lemon chicken soup and thought it was surprisingly good. The lemon flavor was subtle so it wasn't too sour and the soup was served warm. The Greek salad was a decent portion and came with a lot of toppings. My favorite part was the stuffed grape leaf! We decided to order a Combo of Three (garlic dip, hummus, and stuffed grape leaves) as well. We were blown away by the hummus and thought the garlic dip was more like a pureed potato salad. It was good but wasn't great. The Chicken Gyro was good but I felt the Chicken Souvlaki looked tastier. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu as everything was prepared well. I ordered a chicken gyro which was more like a lettuce gyro with 2 pieces of chicken and one tomatoe. Very disappointed because I was a regular customer in the past and it was always well worth it. Was in the mood for Greek food last night and were meeting up with friends in Bethpage, they suggested Opa Grille. The complimentary Tzatziki with the pita was one of the best I had ( felt like it was whipped) and very tasty. Ordered the Calamari appetizer found it was a little tough. Had the stuffed filet of sole (spinach and feta) so fresh and great tasting. My wife had the chicken souvlaki so much flavor and juicy. Good sized portions we took the rest home. This wonderful restaurant has an amazing, friendly staff that worked diligently to make the meal perfect. The restaurant was spacious and very clean. Upon sitting they bring a basket of cut pita (regular and whole wheat) and yogurt sauce. The pita is unlimited and you can ask for more throughout the meal. The pita was perfectly toasted and the yogurt sauce spiced very nicely. I ordered the three combo cold appetizer (you can choose from a list of what you'd like). I took the Spicy Feta Dip, Hummus, and Feta with Kalamata Olives. Ok....wait for it.....AMAZING. Next was the large Greek Salad. Filled with feta, the dressing was perfect, and the grape leaves fresh and soft. You look at the salad and think the size is a little small. But, tuck into it and you we see you might not be able to finish it. Last was the Falafel sandwich. The sandwich was stuffed and the falafel had a mild spicy kick which was fabulous. Find another Greek restaurant. I grew up in Astoria and know what Greek food looks and tastes like. I don't mind spending more money and getting a quality meal and plentiful. These folks are reducing the size of every sandwich, side dishes and dinners. Funny how quantity goes down and price goes up. Will have to find another Greek restaurant. Decent Greek food. Got this for takeout recently during lunchtime and the hostess was very friendly. We ordered at the counter and waited, and they got everything together quickly. Prices were reasonable. Chicken kebab was pretty good. Tzatziki was well made as was the Greek salad it came with. Pita bread was fresh too. The lemon drop soup my brother-in-law raves about didn't do much for me, but this also overkill with the amount of food. When I first came here, I came regularly for their lunch where you get a select menu of different dishes + a soup. My go to is the chicken souvlaki over salad and lemon orzo soup. Can never go wrong. Recently though, I've become obsessed with Octopus and remember having some at the Hillside restaurant. The other day I called in an order for octopus and their Greek fries (extra crispy) to go. Such a great find! From the moment they bring out the pits and tzatziki sauce you will be impressed. I have gone here two times and the staff was very accommodating both times. The gyros were very good, actually very very good, just shy of excellent because they were a little skimpy on the meat. Not too many sliced onions in them, the right amount. The waitress/service was really nice and the prices were decent but the food was just okay. The chicken souvlaki needed more flavor, the chunks of chicken are too big and there was flavor only on the outside. The rice was plain but okay... After sitting down for quite a few minutes and being ignored, someone brought over some menus and some stale, old, gross bread. They should be embarrassed to serve this bread, if you just take a few seconds and toast the bread and make it nice, it would have went along way with the yogurt sauce. The yogurt sauce was great but wasn't even worth it with the bread.. I ordered a Greek salad and soup, she told me I couldn't get half lamb and half chicken like it was some crazy request and just charged me for two sides. The soup was like something you would get in a hospital, terrible.They gave me the smallest salad ever, smaller than a side salad. The lamb gyro had pretty good flavor, the chicken was okay. My friends got a Gyro and the lamb chops and potatoes. A couple of the potatoes were still hard, inedible, the lamb was a bit chewy. The service was terrible, our waitress never came back over one time over the hour and a half we were there to see how we were doing and was cold and not very nice. The tension in the room was high, everyone had tense negative energy and wasn't such a nice environment. Definitely wouldn't go back or recommend. The salad was very good and fresh but it had a weird dressing. It was very thick and had a lot of garlic in it. The pita bread was fresh and i usually like to have it with some tzatziki sauce .. but this one tasted mostly like yogurt and not enough seasoning at all. 10/10 greek salad... authentic and not filled with random sh*t like green peppers and carrots like some restaurants (since when has this become a thing?).
