We love their gyro's!! The French fries are also very good! They are both just consistently very good. We usually come in over the lunch hour. They receive a lot of traffic from Emerson. Today I chose to go to Opa Grill for lunch and I absolutely LOVED my food and service! It's a casual and clean atmosphere which is perfect for a quick lunch or dinner! I had the Lemon chicken soup and it was truly amazing! It has that perfect punch of lemon in each bite! I had the chicken gyro and I was equally impressed! I normally do not get the fries that come with a sandwich but the menu stated they were their specialty, and they were fantastic! I would love to eat here everyday! Even if you don't love Greek food they offer a wide variety of items on their menu that's sure to please! read more

A ittle slice of the Mediterranean in central Iowa! Some authentic Greek food and great service! Started off with the Tiropitakia (layers of crispy philo dough filled with feta chese and herbs) and a bowl of soup (a Lemon Chicke Rice and a creamy sausage version)...I found dipping the Tiropitakia into the creamy soup to be a winner! I ordered the Pastitsio...a Greek Lasagna and Terri ordered the Chicken Souvlaki...Chiken Kabobs. Both were fantastic! I used the Tzatziki sauce that she didn't want on my lasagna...I don't know if that's right or wrong but it sure tasted good! Great food horrible service. We were the second set of people in the main area. Our waitress never came to refill our drinks. We asked for a dessert that she forgot to bring out. She gave us our check and walked off. Then we asked another lady to take our payment. Our waitress came back and said oh I didn't know you were done. Can I just say WOWZER!! That was an explosion of flavor The staff was super friendly and efficient. The food was really great. Literally the BEST broccoli I've EVER had. The sauce on it was deLISH!!! The side salad my husband had was exactly what one should look like I had chicken riviera and it was so moist (sorry but it was) and juicy. Baked potato was cooked perfectly too. I also ordered a side of the gyro meat which was fantastic too The only thing that didn't equal all of this was the lemon chicken and rice soup. It was good but not lemony at all plus I just feel a nice restaurant should use wild rice... preferably Anyhoo enjoy the F out of your meal read more

Needing supper and reading the great reviews here, we pulled into the parking lot for Opa, and then stopped. My sister looked at the few cars in the parking lot and the dim-seeming windows and was worried that I had picked the wrong place. We entered anyway. By the time that we left, my sister was begging me to write a wonderful review of Opa. Between the four of us, we ordered homemade lemon chicken rice soup, a gyro with fries, a chicken gyro with fries, and a chicken kabob dinner, and we couldn't pass up the saganaki appetizer. It was all super tasty. The saganaki was flamed with the traditional "Opa!" and was a treat with pita triangles. My chicken gyro sandwich was filled with big chunks of marinated and grilled chicken, veggies and homemade tzatziki sauce. The regular gyro was filled with moist, tasty meat. And the soup was clearly homemade and delicious. The service was wonderful, even though the difficulty of deciding which menu item to choose probably made us a difficult table to serve. We loved it all, and hope to stop here again if we find ourselves passing through Marshalltown again. read more

Was looking for something different to try while in Marshalltown. This was my first visit to OPA Grill. It was delicious. Started with the hummus. It was fresh made. If you have only had from the store the texture is different when made fresh. It went great with the pita points. I added a squeeze of lemon for a little extra. The gyro platter was awesome. Meat was juicy and not dried out. A great mix of lamb and spices. As a side note I want to mention the decor. Atmosphere is bright and cheerful. Entire restaurant was spotless. The newest Restaurant in town and I think it is going to be a hit. In the 20+ years I lived in town , we have never had a legit Mediterranean restaurant. The atmosphere impressed me. It is decorated to resemble an ocean beach village in Greece. Very clean. First time here we had to wait a bit but it was the first day they were open and the food was delicious. This is by far the best place to get a great Gyro. We also tried their appetizer platter of which the Humus was a highlight. The tiramisu was also great. All their OPA specialties caught my eye and I will definitely be coming back to check other entries on their menu. Only thing that can be improved is their speed to seat and serve but I'm sure that is something that will improve with time. read more

We are frequent OPA flyers. Nice family owned and operated business. Their are multiple generations involved which we really like. Customer service has always been over the top and they get to know their customers. Always flexible with menu changes and our dog (Tucker) always gets a little piece of lamb when driving through the drive through to soup. If you want have good authentic Mediterranean or Greek dishes, OPA delivers at a reasonable cost, nice atmosphere and great customer service. read more

We were really excited to try out a local Mediterranean based restaurant after moving to town. Unfortunately, while the service was lovely and the atmosphere nice, the food leans far more toward American grill and far less Greek Mediterranean, which we expected, especially given the name. There were no dolmades, no vegetable or hummus or falafel based platters/meals, no Greek potatoes (all of which are on offer at any other Greek or Mediterranean we've ever eaten at). Unless you want a burger or a meat heavy dish, there are few options. Mediterranean food traditionally has far less meat and more fresh and healthy veg options. Given the amount of burger and meat based restaurants in town, I feel a good opportunity for providing authentic Mediterranean and/or Greek food is being missed. read more

I was stationed in Greece while in the Air Force. I would like to say I've had a million Gyros but that would be an exaggeration. The one I had was as authentic as you can get. We've been there three times and have loved it each time. The pastichio is my favorite. Now there are two versions of this dish, one with a red sauce on top and one with just bechamel on top. My feeling is the red sauce makes it lean toward Italian and takes away from their tasty bechamel. Oh is their bechamel light and really tasty. They have a platter with a taste of several items which I tried. Very good. Anybody who tries Greek food has to have Saganaki, the flaming cheese. You must experience it once, maybe twice. Of course the Mousakka is the what you hear about and should also be tried once. My wife said their broccoli cheese soup was the best sha hs had. The waitstaff has always been friendly and the wait has been no longer than any other busy restaurant you go to. It is a fact that if you go at 6pm on a Friday you are going to wait anywhere that is good. I'm ecstatic we have OPA Grill. read more

My husband had the pork tenderloin, which was tender and crispy. One of the best tenderloins I've tried. The fries are flavorful and cut in house. Yanni and his wife agreed to a special catering order for 20 people a few days ahead of my son's Grinnell graduation party. Not only was the food AMAZING (spanakopitakia, souvlaki, tzatziki and baklava) but they came in on their day off to prep and get the food ready for pick-up. I cannot thank them enough. Very fresh food with lots of choices. This great new restaurant has great food. We have only eaten here twice, but both times it was excellent. Today I had the gyro and it was the best one I've ever had with fresh made pita. A great tahini type sauce. My husband had the Athena pasta and the sauce was very favorable deep and smoky very European. Highly recommend this restaurant as the best. Lots of non Greek choices too and good prices. I had the mousaka last time and it was great. We love Greece this spring and glad we can enjoy a piece of it locally. read more
