Let me be honest. This is a local spot where Iowa Falls citizens meet for breakfast or coffee, with…read morean opportunity to catch up with friends. I stopped in very early one morning. My motel's breakfast left a lot to be desired so I was looking for alternatives. The Red Rooster was the only place, except for McDonald's that was open. When I entered, there was a table of locals enjoying their regular morning gathering. I was greeted by the hostess who was also the waitress, cook, and clean up staff. I need to say that I was well attended and the breakfast meal was good. It is a very comfortable place if you are acquainted with small town pleasantries. Cash is the only way to pay. But it is very affordable.

I haven't been to Marshalltown in over 14 years, but this is still the sandwich against which I judge all other sandwiches. I am so glad to see this place is still open and making others happy and full! Maybe I'll make it back to Iowa again one day, if I do I'll be stopping in for my favorite #14, it's the best!!!!

Street parking right outside and we walked in and was greeted warmly. Main street almost hides this little gem. The name of the restaurant illuminated on the floor. We grabbed a great seat and got a full run down of the menu and specials. Table of 4 and we were treated like royalty. The ambiance is warm here. The chef is an artist. They are super careful that all the foods don't come into contact with gluten. I have to say that if you walked in and ordered not knowing anything I mentioned above, you would never know that the entire menu is gluten free. It was a brunch for us. I was very excited with the menu options. It was selective and well described. My mom was super excited about the chocolate chip pancakes and the waitress talked up the cinnamon roll. The Slap Jack meal was three chocolate chip pancakes. How can a pancake by fluffy and plump at the same time? You get the meat of your choice on top of that. I picked the sausage and it was full of flavor. The other two at the table got The Early bird Shakedown. A very generous helping of hash browns, slow cooked brisket, cheese, white gravy, and eggs. The brisket on breakfast is divine. I stole a few bites from the hubby and it was savory and melted in my mouth. The waitress was friendly and attentive. Although it was a little quiet, people started feed in. It's a great restaurant and I hope it gets the traffic it deserves. We about rolled out of there full and happy.

Hands-down over all the American Chinese restaurants I've visited in the USA, the best one is…read morelocated in Iowa Falls. PHYSICAL: The restaurant is warm and friendly. The lighting is muted and not too harsh. There's some steps so handicapped accessibility might be an issue. The bathrooms are not stellar but they are clean and functional. The booths and tables are roomy and comfortable. MENU: The menu is extensive and varied, and the prices are exceptionally reasonable, in the $7-$9 range for most entrees and $3-$6 range for most appetizers. They are happy to do a "family meal" for any combination of people, even if the menu says groups of 2/4; this includes your soup, egg roll, paper-wrapped chicken, and your entree for something like $10.95/person. The food is flavorful and highly consistent -- if I order the same thing 10 times, I get the exact same thing 10 times. It's awesome when you find something you like. Recommended dishes include Mongolian beef, orange chicken, lemon chicken, and moo shu pork. I cannot speak to the spicy aspect as Jon T has complained about, as my tastes are very Midwestern and I don't generally like to heat my food up, but several of the dishes marked spicy aren't deadly, they're just warmer. STAFF: The staff is warm, friendly, and we've come to be friends with several of them. They are quick to render service and happy to do anything they can to assist. I have no complaints about their response time or attentiveness. CONCLUSION: Hands-down the best Chinese experience I've ever had and we recommend it to anyone and everyone. Try them today!

I asked for Oolong tea and received a cup of "dark tea" not sure what it was but for sure it wasn't Oolong and too dark for green tea. The place was old and showing wear, probably could have used a good power washing of the entire interior. Staff was friend and relative attentive. Total tab was $10.90, so I sure can't complain about the prices. But I doubt this will receive a return trip when I'm in Marshalltown. But on a Monday night...
