The Red Flags: The "Paint" Deposit: He'll ask for a partial Venmo payment upfront, claiming he needs to buy supplies. He likely overcharges for this just to pocket the extra cash. The Sob Story: He uses a "family man" act--talking about going to church or needing holiday money--to guilt-trip you into giving him a tip before the work is even done. Ghosting: After doing a poor job and leaving the repair in bad condition, he promised to come back and fix it. After a no show when he was supposed to come he ignores all calls and texts. The Proof: Avoidance: He instantly hangs up when I call from my number. The Trap: I called him from a different number and he picked up instantly. As soon as he realized it was me, he pretended he "couldn't hear anything" and hung up then proceeding to ignore that number. Bottom Line: He is a scammer. Do not be fooled by the fake "nice guy" routine. Save your money and your sanity--never do business with him.
