I made an online purchase for a "plug and play" remote starter for my 2003 Honda Element. I soon realized it was not straight forward and I needed to have a professional installation. I went to Zippos in North Plainfield and they were awesome. They listened to my story and said they could do the installation and gave me a quote. I made an appointment and everything went as planned. Well, sort of. There was a slight problem with the door locks working with the new key fob. Even though the clock was ticking they went above and beyond to solve the problem. The price they quoted did not change, and I am thrilled with the results and service I received. Five Stars! I was very happy with my experience here. I met with Joe about upgrading the tv in my van to a flat screen. I was told pricing up front as well as any possible charges that I might incur due to the age of the vehicle. Which was great because I hate getting a call after dropping of my vehicle and having to hear "Sir, there is a problem " which translates to more money. The flat screen works great and the sound is 100 times better than before!! My kids are very happy which makes me very happy. Not to mention that they left my van cleaner then when I bought it there. My brother and I came here to get work done on our car--we got the windows tinted and led fog lights installed. Last year I came to Zippo's to have them upgrade my TV system in my van. They did an amazing job. This year I returned with an electrical problem with my keyless system on my truck. They figured out what the problem was and fixed it. Even showed me some features about my vehicle I didn't even know of. Two days later I returned to have them install a remote start on my van. There's no other place I would go or recommend. These guys are knowledgeable and friendly and take their explaining your options. Each time I went I was impressed. You will not regret coming here. I'm sorry to say I felt very concerned and did not give my business to Zippo's. I stopped in, and asked questions. I had someone try to install a remote starter and could not program it. The desk person said I can't look at it today, but because it's a push start, it would be $350. I said it's in the car already and I have the parts. He then said $99 if only programing but if any including one wire had to be changed, that's $350. I could not take that chance and felt it better to go elsewhere. I appreciate the full price could be possible, but there's no rational reason that it should jump like that. read more

Have been having issues with a HID kit that had been installed in my car before I bought it secondhand. Called Zippo's Saturday morning, they told me to drop the car off and they had it replaced in no-time with a much more reliable LED kit. Great service, and very reasonable pricing also. read more

I had a great experience with Zippo's. The owner was very friendly every time I called, and I had to call and postpone my appointment multiple times due to the snow we've been having in NJ. It was more than typical customer service - it was as though I was a long time customer and a friend even though we hadn't met yet. And the remote starter? It's fantastic! The range is terrific (I can start my car from my desk in my office!) and it has some neat features. I highly recommend Zippo's! read more

Place is a joke. Called up and was quoted $350 for a 2 way remote start. Which is in line with other places. I get there and they say oh wait no that's $500. Like serious? Waste of my time, my gas and my miles. I would just go somewhere else. There's a lot of car stereo places. read more

BEWARE OF SCAM ARTISTS! These guys had me leave my job early and hurry in because they assured me a remote starter for my Toyota Rav4 was only going to be $299 and could be done on the same day. After talking to the salesperson and even the manager they said there is no way they could charge me less than $425 and I might not even get the car back for a day or two!!!! These guys aren't honest and I sure would not trust them working on my car either. read more

I have been going to zippos for years and have always dealt with a gentleman by the name of anthony, who was always fair with me, and always treated me right, so a few months ago, my stereo system stopped working, and i stopped in to see if anyone was available to look at it, and immediately saw the gentleman that originally installed it. Before i could even say a word to him, some tool by the name of john or Joe ( he has blond hair and glasses) jumped in front of me, and cut the other gentleman off so fast (You think they work on commission?) and asked me if he could help me. So i told him that my stereo system wasn't working, and asked if there was someone available to look at it. Without even asking me one question, he responds with "yes, I charge $85 an hour, just have a seat and we will pull it in right away" I have never felt so offended in my life, and started seeing red. Fortunately the other gentleman recognized me, and said "We installed that didn't we?" Immediately John/Joe started stumbling on his words and said, i quote " oh we installed it? then it's free" at this point i just ignored him and just dealt with the other gentleman i originally tried to deal with in the first place, and he took care of me. I have been in there a few times since, and it seems like every time i walk in there, there is somebody different i have to deal with, and i feel like they lost that personal connection with there customers. however, i will say the other people i have dealt with, did treat me more like a human being, and less like a dollar sign. read more
