So an update here - as mentioned in my previous review, I am a youtube trained mechanic. My 2016 WRX air conditioning died on me. I did what I knew how to do, replaced o rings, recharged it etc, and that kept it going a little longer, but eventually it just went kaputski. Call early on a Thursday morning to say that I want to bring the car in, but need it back in time to take a road trip next week. Drop off 8am. By 9am I have a diagnosis. It's a bad diagnosis, but it's accurate - my compressor died. They get the part and have it done and ready for pickup by 12:30 the same day. Is their rate a little higher than some other shops? Sure. But you can have your choice of two of the three: cheap, fast, good. These guys are fast and good. I can't sing these folks praises enough - and as someone who loves my car, I do not trust it to many places preferring to do maintenance and simple fixes myself. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHOP. They are dishonest. I brought my car in for a new catalytic converter. They used an after market catalytic converter and never told me. And charged me $3100 for this after market part. Which, by the way, was only $116 less than the dealer's price when they had earlier replaced the other cat converter with a NEW one. My car has 2 catalytic converters. As a result of this after market part, my check engine light was coming on every few weeks from the time they did the work to several months later because the converter was not working properly. I brought my car in multiple times over several months to have them fix the issue. Yet each time, after a couple of weeks, the check engine light would go on again. Very frustrating. And here is how it ended with them. They told me my car oil was leaking on the catalytic converter and that was the issue. Rather than just admitting they screwed up when they put in the after market part, which malfunctioned over and over, this instead was their line. So no warranty coverage. Nothing. What they should have done was admit their mistake and refund my $3100. But they didn't. So I was out $3100 and ended up paying another (more honest) repair shop an additional $3100 for a NEW OEM catalytic converter. And guess what. After several months of having this new catalytic converter, I have had zero issues. No engine leaks on converter. No check engine light coming on. Everything is running great. And lastly, I spoke to two mechanics on the "engine oil leaking" on my catalytic converter and they both said this was total BS. Their comment was that the dishonest shop simply did not want to honor the warranty. So be warned, STAY AWAY. read more

I'm traveling and my catalytic converter was stolen from my car. I have to be on the road first thing tomorrow. No one else was willing or able to take me. These guys worked me in, did a very professional job and got my car back to me in the afternoon. I believe the work performed was good and repair performed quickly, but boy was it expensive. Labor rates here are just as high as a dealer $130+/hour. Extremely expensive aftermarket parts twice the cost of OEM somehow, and $40 for "shop supplies" and $40 for "hazardous materials" wow $80 for what??? Lunch for everybody?? There were no fluids involved in repair. I could have saved 25% by going to the dealer. read more

I have used Bridgewater Motorworks as an alternative to the dealer for my Audi A4. The service is excellent and the price is fair. I would strongly recommend them if you have a foreign car and do not want to pay the dealer's service price which is generally about 20% higher. read more

We have used Bridgewater Motorworks several times over the past couple years paying literally thousands of dollars to have our vehicles maintained and repaired. Today after only being left one voicemail we have been threatened by the owner that we will be charged a storage fee for our vehicle when they have failed to even update us on the status of it. They could do so easily by email or voicemail as they have done in the past. BESIDES THE FACT WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A GLOBAL PANDEMIC RIGHT NOW. This is seriously one of the scummiest things a business could do right now. For clarification we are not upset about the possibility of a $25 a day charge. Thats no big deal. Bewere of price gouging saved $2000+ I was charged $191.90 for diagnostics and was denied service.when I arrived I had a VTM-4 light on and asked that it be fixed ,I was informed after that the diagnostics charge would be deducted from the final cost.although I $190.91 was steep I agreed based on the Charge being taken off the final cost.Diagnostic results: spark plugs need to be replaced ,Air intake hose to be replaced,EGR,Inner tire rod.service to be completed. Valve lifter lash adjusting,remove and replace air intake hose,clean carbon deposits at EGR,Replace tire rod,Test wheel alignmen,Remove spark plugs.I JUST HAD SPARK PLUGS DONE a few months before $3359.79 (I only asked for VTM-4 be fixed) Bridgewater motors was rude and add unnecessary work in order to pad the bill they just wanted to make $191.90 for diagnostics exaggerated service needs in order to make completion of work impossible they needed to keep the car for 3 to 4 days and refused to divide the work based on priority. I asked what was the most important what could be done now and saved some work for later based on economics. They refused and stated it all had to be done at the same time they would not even top up my transmission fluid they said was low or do anything to compensate $191.90 for diagnostics. I requested the hose be changed and they said it would take up to a week to get the part after trying to reason with them. I finally was defeated with no service received. I then took my car to TW Service LIC in Plainfield NO CHANGE FOR DiAGNOSTICS, diagnostics read work received clean carbon deposits and EGR valve lifters leash adjusting total cost $314.55. My lights are now off and my car has been running fine for a month know ,the work took about 4 hours.please don't take your car here save your money beware of shops that take advantage of women read more

We brought in the car for an emergency repair -- the power steering fluid had sprung a major leak. After the service was performed, the customer service rep told us the cabin filter was dirty and needed changing, and the transmission fluid was dirty and needed changing. The thing was, we replaced the cabin filter ourselves just two months ago, and the transmission fluid was changed just a couple months ago at the Honda dealership. Furthermore, the price we were charged at the dealership for the transmission drain-and-fill was HALF of the price quoted by Bridgewater Motorworks. We are extremely displeased by this dishonest attempt to overcharge us for unneeded services. My wife and I have been longtime customers of this place and we thought we could trust them. Initially I was very impressed; staff seemed nice and facility was clean. They even had bottled water while waiting! I called for an appointment to get an estimate for tires, brakes, and a heat shield. When I went in, Becky asked if I'd like them to do a thorough inspection of the vehicle. I said yes and patiently waited. Well, after the inspection, I was told I needed about $2400 worth of work. I said I needed to think about it as I was surprised at how much work they claimed was needed. When I asked for my keys, Becky told me I owed them $130 for the inspection. I said I was not aware of such a charge and she insisted she told me when she asked about the inspection. I said she didn't, nor did she when I called the day before for the appointment. She again insisted and demanded the $130. I refused to pay and was expecting her to call the police, but she just gave me the keys. I brought the car elsewhere for a second opinion and they said I did not need so much work. For example, Bridgewater Motorworks said I needed a fluid flushed because it was "discolored" whereas I later learned the discoloration is a function of the heat and does not impact the integrity of the fluid. Not only was I put off by the $130 fee and being called a liar, but for padding the estimate with unnecessary work. Beware. read more

TERRIFIC! I used Bridgewater Motorworks for a PPI (Pre-Purchase Inspection) for a car that I found at a local dealer. Being across the country I needed someone to act as my eyes and provide me with all the "goods and bads* about the car. Brianna was extremely helpful, communicative, and patient with all my requests and was able to answer all of my questions so that I could make an informed decision. I went in for an oil change, that went fine. They found a few other things that my car needed and tried to overcharge me for work. Only one of my tires is bad, but they want to replace all four. There's another part that they need to replace, they quoted me $682.03 for a part that shouldn't cost more than $250. I don't appreciate being taken advantage of, so I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

Let me preface by saying that I just stopped in for minor work that I normally do myself, so I am reviewing based only on this experience and cannot speculate about the quality of their work for actual repairs. This is the first time I have had someone else do an oil change on this car, and it went well! They were quick to greet me and brought my car in right away. The waiting area has free WiFi, so I was able to get some work done for the few minutes I was there. The service writer, Brian, was super nice and helpful. When he needed information from me, he walked around the counter and came to my seat instead of asking me to come up-how chivalrous! I also overheard him on the phone with several customers, and he was consistently polite, honest and patient while describing services needed or performed. I overheard a few price quotes for parts as well, and they were definitely very reasonable for the parts he discussed. When everything was done, they pulled my car around to the door, literally just a few feet from me. In addition to the oil change & tire rotation I requested, they topped of all fluids (standard), as well as vacuumed the carpets & cleaned the windows (above & beyond). The pricing is probably just a few dollars higher than the average, but I found the entire service experience to be far above average so it was absolutely worth it. My only gripe, which is completely normal and I actually would've been surprised otherwise, is that they don't put the mileage on the interval sticker that matches what the make & model call for-they just put 3,000 miles by default. Twenty years ago this would be okay, but engine oil has a "life cycle" and most newer engines run for a few thousand miles longer than this before the oil will complete its full cycle. If you change it way too early, it actually doesn't clean the engine as well. But, no big deal and definitely not worth deducting a star! For anyone needing minor to regular maintenance, I highly recommend. read more

We took the car in for an oil change and brakes, brakes never were done because after 1.5 and a half, they still didn't have the parts and we needed the car. When we got there to pick up the car, it didn't start. They said it needed a new battery; $550.64 later, we got our car running. The price for the battery and the installation was more than 2x what the dealership was quoting. This is price was outrageous. Of course, Bridgewater made some type of excuse for the high charge; which wasn't accurate at all. All in all, the prices are very high, they can't estimate a timeframe and then they put the blame on the consumer. Stay away from this place! read more

The sign at the door says, "Home of the Red Carpet Service" and I believe it. I don't think I've been to a auto shop that cares so much about the comfort of their clients. From when I first called, they were kind and accommodating. There is a cute doggie in the waiting room greeting us and making smiles. There is a free charging station and desk if you need to do work. Bridgewater Motor Works, Bridgewater, NJ OK, I took my explorer to my mechanic and was told it looks like I needed a code P0796 pressure sensor C and he doesn't do that work. So I went to Bridgewater Motor Works, I told them what my mechanic said. They looked it over and told me I needed a $5500.00 trans. For about $400.00 they could flush the trans and put a new filter and gasket and that may fix the problem. Well it didn't do anything. I took the car and went to Midway Trans and auto center where Angle yelled at me and said he would of did that type of flushed on my trans for $250.00. He also said if I needed a trans he can rebuild it for about $2500.00. He checked it over and said I needed the pressure sensor just like my mechanic said. He did the work and my car runs great. Now I feel like Bridgewater Motor Works took me for $400.00. Why didn't they see it was pressure sensor like I told them. It seems like all they wanted to do was replace the trans and that wasn't the problem. After that, I know I can't trust BMW again. read more

I went to BWMW with a simple axle replacement, first Becky tells me she doesn't want to price out an axle without driving the car. Fine understandable but then they tell me I need an alignment and wheel "dismount" and balance. That took 3 days then they tell me it's not that it's the axle DUH that's why I brought it to you so whatever I tell them get the axle and fix it and they did. Now here's the problem Becky promised me a call back 3 times and all 3 times I didn't get a call so I had to call them. Then the "dismount" I was charged for never happened seeing as I still have the nail that I know was in there before I took it to them and the other tires valve stem is STILL leaking like I knew it was so they never performed the job all they did was rotate my tire and left ALL valve stem caps completely loose. The "free" car wash was never done either I asked about it and she gave me a little coupon to wash it. So I leave I wash my car my self and notice the fender wheel well was sticking out I had to push that back in so I contacted the "owner" Greg at the email they have there and I have yet to hear back from them, the rental was a complete mess 250 deposit is too much for a "loaner". The axles are installed good but I doubt they're real OEM because they don't feel so smooth but whatever I guess. So I'll keep working on my car on my own and stay far away from this place. Constantly lie to you. I have restored cars before so I have some mechanical experience. When they replace items that you can not see superficially they will buy cheap used China parts. For this reason I asked them to show me the box from which they bought my fuel pump from. They knew I had them cornered so they made up an excuse that they need to get a new ring seal for the pump and it was coming in 4 more days. This bought them enough time to actually buy a good pump. Also their hidden fees were more than 350 dollars. So when they said "Everything will cost 600 dollars" I had to pay 1000dollars in the end. read more

I took in my car because it was not starting. The first day they looked at the car and said everything was fine - it was not starting because I had left something ON overnight. Even though I was pretty sure I had not, I took the car back - and the problem happened again the next day. This time they diagnosed the problem as a faulty starter motor. Besides, the serpentine belt and gasket head were also diagnosed to be faulty. I agreed to get the work done by them - start of my troubles! When the car was returned back, the starter motor was fixed but my speedometer needle was lying all the way to the right !!! Nothing was mentioned about this when the car was returned to me. So they don't even check everything before handing back the car to the customer. Or maybe deliberately it was not mentioned to me in the hope that I took at away without noticing. Even though my speedometer was in perfect working condition when it was taken in, they denied complete responsibility of the the speedometer not working after they had worked on it. I have documents/estimates of their first job (to fix the starter motor/belt/gasket), which mentions that they looked at the speedometer connections. But when I pointed out the same, once again I was told that they had nothing to do with the speedometer at all. To top it all they gave me an estimate of nearly $500 to get the speedometer fixed. Needless to say, I ran !!! Complete con!!! I do not know whether this is true of the whole business, or whether it was my bad luck to run into an inept and unethical technician. read more

They have had my Ford 7.3 since I had it towed in on June 21st and it is still not running on July 20th. I took it to them because their service manager and senior mechanic said that it probably just had air in the fuel and that there are many places that needed to be bled. This was not the issue/solution. The first week that they had it they were apparently 3 mechanics down. This should not be the customers' issue, but I did my best to be understanding. The next week, they were "catching up from being short handed". To me this meant that they would be getting to my truck in short time. Not so, it sat for that entire week. Then when they did look at it,I was informed that the Fuel Pressure Regulator might be bad and should be replaced. They order the part, which costs.327.26 (including tax) from the dealership and marked it up 49.5% to ALMOST HALF AGAIN THE PRICE. That wasn't the solution. Next, I was told it needed 2 new batteries. I had put two new batteries in on 12/28/17 and they were warrantied by Interstate and should have resulted in no cost. But, I was charged for the installation of batteries that had been in the truck barely 6 months and had load tested TWICE and passed before I took it to Bridgewater Motorworks Again, not the solution. So, a new starter was suggested to get the RPMS necessary to check oil pressure. So, I purchased a new starter and delivered it to them. The truck sat unworked on for a week after the part was delivered while I was out a $150 core charge until the old one was returned. THAT wasn't the solution. So almost $400 in "further" diagnosis" (no breakdown) and the High Pressure Oil Pump was identified as the next needed replacement. That was picked up and delivered to them on July 12th, a week ago. It still hasn't even been unpacked. And again I am out a core charge until the old one is returned. First, I was contacted by, Greg, the owner and told that I had run up over $1300 in costs and that there was a lot more work needed, including expensive parts. And that they wouldn't do any more work until I paid the bill thus far. I have NEVER had to pay for work until it was completed before. I was informed that they had 3 "abandoned cars, and didn't want a 4th". I am in there for work AT LEAST TWICE A WEEK. This to me sounded like, "We think that you are unreliable and are going to stick us with the vehicle". The value of the vehicle is in excess of $13000, 10x the current bill. But, to keep work moving forward, I made a partial payment. At which time I was told that it "really won't expedite the service, because the mechanic assigned to your truck, just lost his brother and will be away for the week". I am truly sorry for his loss, but no other mechanic can work on my truck? Granted it is a diesel, but Bridgewater Motorworks is supposedly a "Certified Diesel Bulletproofing" facility, certified by Bosch. One would be lead to believe that this certification would require someone who could work on the engine in less than a month. I have been without my truck now for 4 weekends that I have not only been able to have it generate money, but had to PAY OTHERS to do my own work. When I told this to the "customer service" person on the phone, I was hung up on. When I there went to talk to her face to face and once again expressed my displeasure, I was met with an extremely dismissive and sarcastic "Thank you". I am now worried about my truck, which has already sustained body damage while at their facility. read more

Likely, the most expensive auto repair place in town. Paid $160 for a checkup and I was told nothing was wrong with it. However, the car was not driving right. A small auto repair place, behind a gas station, checked the car for free and correctly diagnosed the problem - a leaked strut (and fixed it, too). Now the car drives perfect. I expected way better service for a $160 "checkup" especially when others do it for free. read more
