I finally took the plunge and got a CarPlay system for my car. After calling around to a few shops, Professional Sound was the most reasonably priced, so I made an appointment. The morning of, I dropped off my car and spoke with Dave. He was very knowledgeable and you could tell he's been in the business for awhile. We went through the whole process and what needed to be done: the Sony system installation, connect to my backup camera and steering wheel controls, and replace the 12v cigarette lighter with a dual USB port. Dave let me know that the cigarette lighter replacement might cause some fitting issues, so he walked me through some alternatives if it didn't work out. I came to pick up my car 3 hours later and everything was perfectly installed! The total came out to $428 with tax. There were definitely some cheaper options out there but I felt comfortable knowing that the job would be done correctly the first time here. read more

I have been going to these guys for over 15 years. In the early 2000s, I had tints put on a Subaru. Well done, never bubbled, covered the glass entirely. Recently, I bought my wife a Viper automatic car starter for her Subaru. I liked it so much that I had one put on my Mercury. While I was in the store, I wanted to upgrade my radio, and went with a touch screen. In fairness to the review, Dave gave me two choices on a Pioneer. I called him to ask the model numbers so I could research which one to choose from. When I showed up the day of installation, he had neither in stock, and I wound up going for an Alpine instead. I was convinced I wanted a touch screen, so it wasn't a deal-breaker. Dave is very knowledgeable about his products, and the installation team is very good at what they do. I trust their work and recommend this place to anyone. I also want to add that my air vents were knocked off their casing, and when I picked up my car, the boys had locked them into place without asking. I have a 2012 Land Rover LR2 that had nothing but a small portable GPS in the dash, which looked awful. I was looking to upgrade the system, and have it look more premium than before. I'd like to start this review by saying I had a very pleasant in-person experience with the business owner and didn't want to leave a negative review. Unfortunately, the result from my window tint was bad enough for me to tell you to go elsewhere. I dropped my car off feeling great after walking through what looks like a nice shop. Came back about 3-4 hours later to what looked like a nice tint job. Gave it a few days to settle and unfortunately had bubbles and small scratches on the windows. Brought it back and Dave was quick to redo the two windows that had issues. After giving it another four days after the second application (driver side and passenger side front windows), the scratches are even worse on my passenger side front window. Seems like the place to go for sound equipment but I would suggest going elsewhere for your window tints. I feel bad leaving this review as it seems like a great shop, just dont have the time to bring the car back for a third visit and not feel great about the result. read more

Dave is the man! If you're in the market for any electronic stuff or additions to your car I wouldn't recommend any other shop. I went in 3 weeks ago (the week the Jets were facing the Texans, so I think it was 3 weeks anyway!) for a backup camera installation for my car because Parallel Parking in Jersey City is quite the challenge without one (particularly when it involves my Camry, which has this distinct pillar in the back which makes rear view visibility quite poor, but I digress) I made the Appointment on Tuesday for SAT at 12 noon. I went in and dropped off the car and then returned around 3 PM ish (normally Dave suggested that ETA is roughly 2 hours, but it was a pretty packed day then). Everyone in the garage was a professional installer so it made the job seamless. I didn't want to replace my OEM stereo set so Dave suggested the rearview mirror option. The guys did an awesome job, and I really appreciate the attention to detail that went into it. Parking is a cinch now and I go out more with the Car because I don't have to worry about circling the block to find wide open slots. The Camera also came with a 1 year warranty (Dave stands by his products and he let me know to come in whenever if I encountered issues). Really enjoyed the process overall and the ethical dealing. Had a mildly unpleasant experience here. The faceplate on my car stereo got lifted, so I went in search of a replacement. The fella at Professional Sound first tells me they can't sell faceplates; they only sell complete stereo systems. Bizarre, it seems, since faceplates are probably lost, broken, or stolen fairly regularly. He then asks me what make/model faceplate I need. I tell him I don't know; the head unit has no make/model or any other information on it; that's why I'm at his shop, to find out. He then tells me they charge a $25 fee just to pop the head unit out, which would take all of about three seconds. So before committing to that I ask "how much would a replacement faceplate cost, ballpark?" "$80 to $100," he tells me. Seems steep; I figured faceplates would run more around $50 or under. Hmm. I say "no thanks" and get the hell outta there. Later, via other means I am finally able to determine the make/model of my car stereo. So I type it into google and voila! replacement faceplates for that exact make and model are available and cost a mere $14. Problem solved, no thanks to unProfessional Sound! read more

Wow, not enough can be said about the high-quality work these guys do. I called on a Thursday to set an appointment for the following Saturday (I work weekdays) to have an aftermarket radio installed in my dad's pathfinder. I asked for a noon appointment and they catered to my request. I got there at 12 and spoke to the gentleman (Dave) behind the counter. Immediately he asked me to bring my car in. He took my keys and said he'll call me once they are done. I bought the harness and a dash kit. Apparently, I bought too small a dash kit and forgot to get an antenna harness. This establishment has been here for a long time (likely over a decade and some) and it's for good reason. They do quality custom work to all makes and models. The list of services I've used Professional for include: (1) Tints (2) Custom HID Kit installment The tints were a bit pricier than local competitors (about $180 for a coupe). However, I will say I've had subpar work done for much less and these guys do high quality work that lasts. You get what you pay for! Now, the HID kit was "second-hand" from a friend, but I had every reason to believe that it worked just fine. I brought it to Professional and they installed for relatively cheap (can't specifically recall the price but it was north of a $100 but below $200). A few weeks later one of the lights were going in and out, I brought it back to them and one of their guys fixed it without any hassle or extra charge. I love a well-run small business! read more
