I seem to have a thing for reviewing towing companies…read more.. So, I've been having some crazy electrical problems going on with my car - probably a bad alternator. I've been able to limp the car around for the last couple days, needing a jump-start every time I've had to start it. Last night, as I was en-route to dropping my car at the mechanic, probably around 9:00, it decides to completely die on Western, just north of Peterson. No power at all - no hazard lights, nothing... and I can't even get the car out of Park. Although my wife was following me in her car, a jump start was going to be useless. I sat in the car for about a minute, trying to figure out what to do, who to call, and kind of freaking out. As I got out of the car to discuss the situation with my wife, a tow truck just happened to drive up! He asked where I was going, and if I needed a tow. Within about 2 minutes, my car was hooked to the back of his truck. He dropped it at the mechanic, which was only about 1/2-mile away, and was super friendly the whole time. Best part: He didn't even want any money! I gave him $20, though. He said he had just up filled his tank, and was heading home when he drove up on me... and that "somebody up above must have been looking out for me" last night. He seemed as amused by the randomness of the encounter as I was. I give this guy 5 stars for his timing, alone. I would have paid him whatever he asked, so the fact that he didn't even want any money earns him another 5 stars. But, I can't give 10 stars, so he just gets 5. The situation couldn't have worked out any better... aside from me not having to replace the alternator. (I'm assuming I'll be following up this review with a bad one of Carr's Honda. The only reason I took the car there is because it's still under warranty, and I'm hoping this will be a warrantied problem. Ashland Tire is my mechanic-of-choice.)

But, lo and behold, 15 min later, the tow truck showed up! He was super nice, he had his sons in the car (they were coming from dinner and one son was learning the ropes) and they were just pleasant people. We discussed Semiramis, which coincidentally they were just coming back from, our love of shwarma, and then we were at the auto body shop....all for FORTY dollars! When was the last time you got towed for $40?!! I hate having car problems and all the other nonsense that comes with it...but trust me, if you need a tow, call King Towing.

He even swapped my full back tire with my front flat so that I would have the donut in the back on my front-wheel drive car (which I was much more thankful for driving in the snow that evening). I was off to work by 8:45 (flat called in at 7:30)--that's good time in my book (because had I tried to fix it I would just be leaving for work...tomorrow.) :P Highly recommended!

I called to come get my possessions out of the car and informed me I would have to pay $400 dollars to remove my car in order to get my belongings. Um, excuse me? My car is a part of a documented accident and shouldn't be moved until insurance evaluates the damage. I had to have the insurance company call and inform them that I was picking up my belongings. The secretary refused to listen to what I was informing her of and kept cutting me off by repeating the same business policy over and over. She was rude and uncooperative and I do not recommend this business to anyone.
