I was starving after doing a hike in south mountain and saw Ono was close by. It was rather busy on a Friday night and took some time to get my food. I ordered an Aloha plate with BBQ chicken. It's okay I guess! No complaints! For fast food, it's extraordinarily good. The flavors and quality are pretty good. The average expectations of a Hawaiian-style meal to a certain degree are met - as close as one can get in many respects on the mainland. I speak only of BBQ that is. Their renditions of Island Fire, Teriyaki, Katsu and Hawaiian BBQ Chicken are appealing. Also, the Hawaiian BBQ Beef, Kalua Pork and White Fish stand out somewhat. Our favorites though are: the Chicken Katsu Combo with rice, along with steamed cabbage and a decent macaroni salad; and the Chicken and Beef Combo also with rice, cabbage with macaroni salad. Pretty yum! I know they specialize in BBQ; it drives me to seek out some of the other Hawaiian delicacies which do not seem to abound much in the Valley. Pretty good job though! You can never go wrong with Hawaiian food and Ono always hits the spot! We stopped by for dinner here on Saturday night and it was pretty busy. There were people dining in, people ordering, and people picking up to go orders. We ordered one grilled lemon pepper chicken plate and one Kalua pork plate. Both plates came with macaroni salad, white rice, and steamed vegetables. We also ordered a drink and our total came to be about $32. The cashier was very soft spoken and hard to hear. Not sure if she just didn't want to be there or if she was just shy. The dining area was dirty. A lot of the tables had crumbs on them and or were sticky. We sat at one of the high top tables that was against the window and I almost had a heart attack because a bug was making his way across it... The food was really good. The grilled chicken had soo much flavor and was perfectly grilled. The Kalua pork was also really good. It was very flavorful and soft. The steamed vegetables are my favorite and these were cooked perfectly - al dente. Good food but the dining room cleanliness and customer service could be better. read more

With disappointment after ordering the family meal the lady said it would take 10 minutes until it came out and once we received the chicken was still raw and someone hair from the BEARD was in our food!!! Why don't these people where BEARD NETS around their face????????? What is the health policy here? We paid $72 for our meal and left sick after that! I was originally on the hunt for a chicken sandwich but found this place nearby. It was pretty busy for 5pm and their employees were really nice. After I ordered, I got a couple of sauces to go, but I'm guessing their teriyaki warmer was broken since the sign said it might be hot caution...but I don't think it would get hot sitting on just a countertop. Love the service from the staff, recommendations from them are always honest, food is mediocre and the best thing is the macaroni salad. The meat can be cook a bit longer but the sauce is always flavorful. I feel like there's always homeless people in or around this location. Which I don't think is their fault but if you are going there, beware! What an amazing place! This is the best fast food KBBQ place you can find in the valley. They'll load you up with rice, meats, cabbage! The meal has good balance. ONOs are usually really nice. Be sure to try the Kalbi and fried shrimp. I think they are upgrading this location to look more hip and modern. Business seems fairly busy, but I'm sure it'll be busier after the modernized the place. From time to time, you'll see the general manager working in the back and training his employees. Love, love the fish!!! It's served with rice, you put on teryiaki sauce. You can get nice pieces of steamed cabbage, too. The cabbage salad is very tasty with a ginger dressing. This is nothing compared to the service, though. I have difficulty carrying things. I've been here twice. The girls behind counter are helpful. This was delivered this time, so to be fair it probably would have been better eaten at the restaurant or soon after. I have been in the restaurant before, and it is usually pretty clean; so maybe that is the way to go from here on out. No complaints about the service in the past either. Macaroni salad is always really tasty. One of the best items they serve. We got the family meal which came with 3 entries, 6 scoops of rice, vegetables and macaroni salad. We chose the bbq chicken, bbq beef and teriyaki chicken entrees. The teriyaki chicken was the best while the beef was slightly overcooked, but still good enough not to complain. I had food from here for dinner this past Saturday. We were visiting my brother in laws house and they had decided to order from Ono Hawaiian BBQ. After looking through the menu i had a hard time deciding between the chicken katsu and the island fire chicken. What it ultimately came down to was how hot the island fire chicken was and after I read a few reviews about it, I decided it probably wasn't too spicy. Since we also had it delivered, I don't have much to say about the restaurant itself as the food arrived on our doorstep. Whenever I opened up my food it looked exactly like what I would expect out of a plate lunch with rice, Mac salad and the main entree. The only difference here was that the chicken came on a bed of cabbage which was interesting. As for the chicken itself, it tasted decently. The sauce had a good kick to it but wasn't crazy spicy. It covered the meat and any taste almost completely and if I didn't know, I wouldn't have been able to tell you what type of meat it was. Then the Mac salad was ok, but it's generally not my favorite thing and the rice was rice. The bottom line for me is that I might stop by here again in the future. My dinner was a-ok but nothing about it led me to think that I must stop by here again in the future. read more

Ono is a Hawaiian fast food chain with locations throughout California and Arizona. The first Ono's I ate at was in North Scottsdale and it was an overall good experience, especially since there weren't a lot of restaurant options in that area years back. This location is fairly spacious with a lot of seating and a modern digital screen. I do think they could use a little help with the designing of the on-screen menu because it was hard to see the font from further away and the sides weren't readily available to see as it was part of the menu that changes screens every few seconds. I decided on the aloha plate, a plate that includes your choice of one or two main items, rice, and salad. I went with the two item combo with whitefish and fire chicken. I also had a few bites of the katsu chicken. While we waited we grabbed some teriyaki and katsu sauce from the counter. Your order will come automatically packaged to go. We decided to eat it at the restaurant since we were pretty hungry. The aloha plate was a hefty amount of salad, rice and chicken. There was only one piece of the whitefish, a smallish-looking, battered and fried oval of seafood. The katsu entree also came with a plentiful amount of chicken and rice, with an additional scoop of macaroni salad and bed of steamed cabbage under the chicken. I enjoyed the fish and katsu chicken, with their crispy crunchy batter and tender meat inside. I didn't really like the fire chicken. It had a low level of heat, was very salty, and had a powdery/paste-like taste to it. I could also taste an odd additional seasoning in it, like they added maybe some cumin and chili powder which are weird spices to add to your Hawaiian style chicken. If I go here again I'll probably opt for the battered and fried items again and avoid the marinated stuff. read more

Definitely one of my family's go to for dinner at least once a month. I wasnt much of an Ono's fan in the past but I was craving Hawaiian BBQ & this was the closest place to me. & I'm glad I gave them another shot because they have improved. No explanation, no apology, nothing but non-chalant attitude. Asked for manager, apparently was the cook that lost the order, asked for GM info and apparently the cook was also the GM ....at this rate, he must also be the owner!!! Fucken clown show here!
