Always love this place, no matter what city we're in. This visit was quick and easy, as there was only a handful of people eating and no one waiting in line. Prices are up a bit compared to years past, but what hasn't gone up in price these days?! The storefront was clean and open, which is a nice thing to have in the city of Hemet. The service was fast and friendly, and the food tasted great, as usual. Portions were still pretty much the same size, as I've noticed some other places have slimmed down a bit. Went for dinner there and was satisfied with finding the special $8 offer for shrimp or fish plate. The special included salad and rice. The Fish Plate had four good size pieces of fish; I didn't care too much for all the onions included, but the dressing added a good taste. My guest had the shrimp and wasn't happy that there was only 4 shrimp. We'll be back as long as the special is available. We've been eating takeout from here for the past few months and have been mostly happy about the food. We tried the Kalua Pork yesterday afternoon (June 24, 2025) and were very disappointed. There was no taste of Alaea salt and the imitation liquid smoke flavor was way over the top. We could not eat it. We also did not like the slaw. This time it had raw red onion and lima beans. The portions were not there, even for a mini. One "big" piece of chicken and a couple of small ones. The food is pretty basic and does not stand out. The prices are great and you get a whole lot of food in their meals. I can never finish it all. What keeps us coming back are the employees . Very healthy delicious food. I've enjoyed every dish I've had there so far. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about their food and how you can order it. It takes a minute to get your food once you order it because every dish is made once you order it, so you know it's going to be fresh.
