They had unwittingly disconnected my furnace and my water heater stopped working. The HVAC guy who fixed the furnance recommended I call Gunther for the water heater. They made the appointment, and now enter Calib! After inspecting it, Calib tells me I would need to replace my water heater. I agreed, what choice did I have? The next day he arrives, takes out the old water heater, and, unbelievably, refuses to use a dolly, insisting he can just slide it across my wood floors. He damaged my floors, apologized, and left me scrambling to protect them with rugs and towels. Then came the kicker: the new water heater was too big for the space. He hadn't measured anything, hadn't paid attention to the size of the previous heater...nothing. He suggested I just leave the closet door open. I informed him that was unacceptable as I have dogs and grandchildren! He actually was mad at me!!!! I even asked him, "are you pissed?". He tried to deny what was clearly written across his face. When he returned with another "solution," it was still too big. His response? "Oh well, that's the only one we have. Maybe we can investigate. No one makes tanks this small anymore." Then he left. I couldn't believe it! It's getting dark now, I was left crying, without hot water, and with no options. To make matters worse, he tried to take my old heater, which was sitting in front of my house, as he left. I was alone, distraught, and abandoned by a company that clearly didn't care. Thankfully, ECO Plumbers came to the rescue that same night. They not only installed a properly sized (29 gallon) water heater from the same brand (Bradford White) Gunther claimed didn't exist, they did it at a better price, AND actually made me feel valued as a customer. They were professional, placed vinyl down to protect my floors, wore foot covers, tested things 3 times or more, left a complimentary carbon monoxide detector, and most importantly treated me and my home with respect. Gunther Plumbing caused stress, damaged my floors, and left me helpless. I would never, ever trust them again, and I cannot believe the glowing 5-star reviews. If you value your time, your home, and your sanity, skip Gunther and call ECO Plumbers instead.

At around 8 AM, we were told that one would be dispatched soon, and would call to let us know when he was arriving. As we battled the water spreading over our kitchen floor, we couldn't wait for the plumber. We kept the phone in hand and even watched the road, but no one called or arrived. After 4 hours, we called them again, and they said they were very busy but one of their techs would soon contact us. After 7 hours, we called again to say their business hours would be over soon, but no one had contacted us. The receptionist (Felicia?) said she would send Travis out immediately. But he never came, and we were never contacted. Nearly all my reviews of other companies have been glowingly full of praise and a pat on the back, but Gunther Plumbing/ housecallpro.com is one of the worst companies we have ever contacted. However when they replaced my hot water tank several months…read moreago, unbeknownst to me, to make the new, larger unit fit, the tech shortened my washer drain. In doing so, the washer drain isn't tall enough anymore to properly drain, and there is a deeply curved 'trap', (that wasn't there before), that causes the water to rush back up and out of the drain. I had asked the tech at the time about all the 'left over' PVC pipe pieces, but he'd assured me it was from the old tank- when in fact it was actually my working washer drain that he'd removed and replaced with a shorter pipe, with a very curved 'trap'. He did this in order to make the new tank easier to install, he failed to reassemble the drain properly after removing it to install the tank. The back of the washer/drain/hoses/etc. are all in a separate room than the front of the washer. It's accessed clear on the other side of the house through a tiny door next to the fridge in the kitchen. I've went in there once to change my furnace filter months ago. I noticed the concrete floor was a bit 'damp', so I put a damp-rid in the room and thought nothing more about it- bottom line, my washer has been draining into this small utility room and flooding for months! There is actually mold on one of the wall studs now! I'd noticed my new flooring warping near the furnace intake vent, but couldn't understand why. It's the only place in the house that my new flooring is warped, chipping. I know now it's from the water leaking under the furnace in the utility room and seeping under the laminate flooring! Am I stupid for not realizing this sooner- yes, I admit I am. Is Discount Drains responsible for their tech tampering with, and ruining my washer drain- yes, yes they are! They are also responsible for the mold that occurred and the small area of warped flooring as a result of their mistake. I have contacted them, and I was told they are sending someone out to, "dispute the mold." Not a very courteous response at all! If they repair/replace the washer drain so it functions properly as it did before they ruined it, and address the mold they caused as well as replacing the affected floor boards, I will remove this post, however if they refuse to repair the washer drain that their tech ruined, and clean/repair the mold, replace flooring, I will have no choice but to litigate for damages and will continue to strongly suggest not doing business with this company! I trusted them to do the job right, and instead they caused damage to my home with their incompetence! I'm super disappointed both in their workmanship and response to my issue!

While it may seem odd to have a FaceTime quote, the process isn't that much different than someone who comes to your house and does a surface level check only to find out when they begin the work that things are more complicated than they seem. The good news about the process is that it helps expedite the process so our jobs were completed much more quickly than quotes from other companies (I.e. by the time the person schedules to come look, prepare a quote, and then schedule the project installation much more time has passed). Everyone we worked with was friendly, efficient, and professional. The bonus for us is that our second project was actually cheaper than they quoted because they found a much easier solution when they got behind the wall to see what had been covered up by previous owners. Called around 9:30am, and they came at 12:30pm. Ian was the guy who worked on our sink. He was super friendly, informative, and professional. After asking just a few questions, he identified the likely problem (clog in main pipe), got his tools, and got to work. He explained everything he was doing while he did it. Within 10 minutes, the clog was fixed and my sink was draining like new! They charged $130 for the service, which is on the lower end of estimates I've read online (saw $120 to $185 on Google). Very satisfied with the work and the service. Would highly recommend them and call them again!

Declined to fix the line when a quote was requested claiming he didn't have a hitch post on his truck to tow an excavator to reconnect it. (Sewer coupling was about 12" below grade) and his truck with the hitch was acting up. Didn't have a recommendation for another service to solve the problem when asked for referral.
