My favorite is always the consome, and for me, it can make or break the experience but this absolutely delivered and was delicious! The service was good. The barbacoa taco on corn tortilla is PHENOMENAL. Juicy flavorful meat and SO tender, it almost melts in your mouth. It's kinda oily and fatty...sometimes too fatty...but the flavor is insane. My favorite taco from here, hands down. The Al pastor taco has good flavor, too. It's marinated well and it has chunks of pineapple (very important)...BUT...it can be too dry at times. They should pull back on whatever it is making the pork dry and tough half of the visits. Keep it tender. And the pineapple should be cooked with the meat, not just laid on top as an afterthought. But from what I've tasted in Austin thus far, this al pastor taco is still better than many in this town. I love this place. I just wish they had radishes. 4 stars. read more

When you first arrive here you'll notice the front door is pretty beat up, the plain concrete restaurant floor is pretty grungy and everything looks a little run down. It was also obvious the place has no AC or ceiling fans. A lot of Yelpers point out the inconsistency of the quality of the food served here. They do some things well here, but there were some things that could've been better. They make a really great salsa, but the chips are on the level with tostitos. I enjoyed my sirloin quesadilla, but I was surprised how small it was. The Al pastor meat was fairly dry, but edible, especially when accompanied with their salsa (I noticed that they did not cut it off fresh from the spit). We partnered our quick meal up with a bottle of Modelo and a $7 cup of frozen margarita. The Margarita was surprisingly decent, but they don't offer much in the way of beer. Overall, things were just good, but I don't think they have the formula working perfectly for them here and no drive up window. Came across this spot randomly while on this side of town...was starving and craving breakfast tacos! Very cute decor on the walls and I loved the open kitchen aspect so you can watch the chef make your food. I ordered 2 I bacon tacos, one pollo asada (chicken) taco, and nachos with chicken added. If you're really hungry then two regular tacos is perfect. My friend ate the chicken taco and tried a piece of the chicken; seasoned well. She also ordered the nachos and jumped into them before I could take a picture; what I did like was since we ordered to go they come deconstructed...queso, guacamole, and sour cream on the side and chicken on top of the chips so by the time you get home the chips aren't soggy. Was excited to try this place as it was featured on drivers, dine in and dives! Got Norte taco, cauliflower taco, and horchata. Loved the Norte taco, especially the chorizo and the cheese in it. The cauliflower taco was okay. Horchata was good as well! The portions were pretty good too. read more

I was very disappointed by this restaurant! My friend raves about it and brought me here.  There was loud music playing, which interfered with our conversation. When ordering I asked about the drink by the lemonade labeled "jamaica", and was told it was "jamaica." Not useful. I ordered it though. Our meals came to us, but no jamaica. We checked the ticket, it wasn't added. *heavy sigh* Now to the taco disappointment.  My pollo asado had the driest chicken I've ever been served. The cheese on top was melted on top, stringy on the bottom, and hard. This taco was disgusting.  Was it made with leftover meat? Did it sit under a heat lamp? It doesn't matter. Dinner at OneTaco was very good. OneTaco sits somewhere between fast food and a reseraunt (closer to upscale fast food). The menu is primarily soft tacos and quesadillas. The tortillas surprisingly taste almost homemade. The grilled meat and veggies were fresh and seasoned perfectly. There were three different sauces/salsa you can add to taste. We also had the large chips and queso. The queso was super thick which let us load it up the chips (a good thing). Don't expect fine dining but you'll likely get some delicious tacos. read more

The open kitchen design is nice to see food being prepared while you're in line to make an order, and the dining room is brightly colored and cheery with not too many tables, but enough to handle most of the customers and a few tables outside under an awning as well. I ordered the Gowalla taco which tasted nice, but since it's diced steak it's not as tender as I'd like and unfortunately had a lot of fat/gristle. The bacon is diced too and was a mix of too hard since it's the thick kind, or too gummy, probably because it wasn't cooked evenly on a flattop. Of course the avocado was nice and fresh and you can't go wrong there. While I enjoyed the taste I would definitely choose chicken next time instead. read more

Ate here twice during a recent trip to Austin. My counterpart wanted to try something from the Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives list. I was limited to their vegetarian options but my colleague tried 5-6 different tacos including all three flavors of their street tacos. The Relax is a simple combo but delicious. Something as basic as sesame seeds really elevated it. Plus their sauces are all spot on. The salsa (chips and salsa) was awesome. Perfectly blended with a good flavor and nice kick without being stupidly spicy. The horchata helped when the heat levels started elevating. My colleague had beef, chicken and pork street tacos as well as the steak and pollo asado tacos. What he enjoyed was the seasoning used to cook all the meats. Each had a distinct flavor and didn't require a sauce in order to give them flavor. The atmosphere is very chill. This location is located in a strip shopping center behind CVS. I will warn, we went in on a record hot day and the restaurant wasn't cool inside. I don't know if this was due to the glass front or a lack of AC. The menu is pretty simple but I think it's because they stick to what they know and do it well. I'll definitely be back. read more

Finally stopped in to try this place after passing by it multiple times, and even seeing it featured on a re-run of Guy Fieri's show. I even like the atmosphere, with the metal tables, cheery teal backgrounds, and Mexican music. I was here before 11am, when they start serving the lunch menu, so I got a pair of the breakfast tacos. The Jefe breakfast taco is simply excellent. Handmade flour tortilla with a fried egg, pico, black beans and chunks of steak (aka carne asada). Pair it with a dollop of their green tomatillo salsa and you're ready to rock. The other standout was the migas taco - egg, pico, and corn chips. Perfection on a tortilla. Pair this with fast, friendly service and a decent price, and what's there not to like? This place gets a total hardcore recommendation from me. Pro Tip 1: Show up on Tuesdays for the $2 special on tacos al pastor! Pro Tip 2: Garnish your tacos with the green sauce, or a slice of avocado. Excellent stuff. Get yourself a buenos dias or I love bacon taco and enjoy your life. I don't know what more people want from a taco restaurant. They have good tortillas, good food, and its fast. Recent reviews seem to expect a taco place to be something else. Y'all leave my One Taco alone it's perfect the way it is. Also the barbacoa and campechano tacos are good too. Our original breakfast plans fell through, so we ended up stopping by OneTaco and it's sufficient as far as taco places go. I wouldn't say there's anything special to like nor is there anything to hate, but it's just a serviceable local taco shop. They cook their flour tortillas in house on the giant comal but somehow they come out a bit too dry and the texture is not great. Barbacoa taco is a giant pile of soft beef, with the requisite cilantro and onions but could use some salt. The migas taco is also pretty standard but compared to other migas I've had in town, it felt a bit lackluster. Salsa is decent and pairs well with the tacos. That said, the tacos are very big and one will be probably enough for you if you wanted a decent breakfast. Service is friendly and there's plenty of space to sit down and eat. I'm rating it a three star because I'm particular about my pancakes. It was not a buttermilk pancake. This combination of eggs bacon and pancake sounds perfect but didn't taste well together. I came in to order a taco for my daughter and possibly one for myself. I ordered the el classico and barbacoa and was told the barbacoa wasn't available. So I ordered just the el classico taco which should have come on a flour tortilla. My husband swiped his card without really looking and as we were waiting he realized that he was overcharged for the taco. We waited awhile for one breakfast taco (eggs, potatoes, and cheese) and when I opened it up, it was an al pastor taco. That explains why we were overpriced and he didn't even try to fix the overcharge. The employee then slaps together the taco so quickly that the potatoes weren't even fully cooked and it was on a corn tortilla. I was completely disappointed and will never be returning. I've been to One Taco before and it was just passable, but today it was really good! We devoured our tacos. The Pollo Asada doesn't just have cheese, they put the cheese on the griddle so it is crunchy and it adds a nice smoky flavor. They were also very nice and made us a pancake taco despite it being a bit after breakfast was over. Great fast service. They also have outdoor seating, so we could eat with our dog. read more

I really want to like this taco place cause it has better reviews on DoorDash than torchys tacos which is my favorite taco place but the taste just fell short at one taco. I ordered the big kahuna, taco jefe and I love bacon. I didn't like any of em and had no pleasure from eating any of the tacos cause it was really bland. I usually complain about food being too salty but these tacos were just bland. The cheese didn't even melt on the I love bacon which sucks cause I love melted cheese. I ended up giving half of my tacos to my dog cause it just wasn't worth the calories. read more

They have some good dishes, but their service is terrible. I have eaten here 4 times and this review is about the most recent. It seems like they don't understand/ listen to what customers are asking for or need. We asked for bacon to be well cooked and in a strip (not chopped) , they gave me chopped , undercooked bacon with mushy / greasy potatoes. I took it back and they said "we dont have bacon" if we made it like that we would have to cook you a piece of bacon! They have small pre bagged chips (around 20 in a bag) that are $6 w a medium salsa. If you want more chips they charge you an extra buck :( the other option for salsa is so small it would barely feed a squirrel. I had an order delivered by Uber last night, please make sure to avoid that mistake first of all. I ordered the Nachos Libres Pollo Asado Nachos from OneTaco. When my food arrived it was cold. Since my partner's Tacos were warm, It wasn't the driver's fault. It was the restaurant. The chicken was hard and diced into tiny pieces. The beans were a dense dried-out hard clump. with a tiny dollop of sour cream. Now, I ask you, what is the most important part of Nachos? Yes, you're right it's the Queso. There wasn't one drop to be found. Seriously what are nachos without Queso, especially when everything on the dish was dried out and hard? Okay enough said about the Nachos. I contacted Uber and they credited $5.00 back to my account. the nachos were $11.00. which means I pretty much ate $6.00, since the food wasn't edible. When I asked why, Uber said to talk to OneTaco. so here I am. Uber does not back the food they offer as delivery, and OneTaco serves horrible Nachos. sitting here thinking........... I actually ate the full $11.00 since I canceled my account with Uber. Darn it all! read more
