I brought my PC to FRIENDLY COMPUTERS after I was told by Geek Squad and Office Depot that they wouldn't even accept my computer without me giving them $250+ down. I would recommend this establishment to anyone who needs fast, friendly and fair computer repair. My PC is seven years old and instead of telling me what a piece of crap my PC is (like the other guys did), they accepted my geriatric PC with open arms. I took my PC there about a month ago, because it wouldn't power on. I know less than zero about computer repair, so they could have really taken me for a ride if they wanted to. However, I was pleasantly surprised when they called me a few short days later to inform me that they can fix it for nearly half of what Geek Squad and Office Depot were trying to fleece me for...... labor and parts combined! Today I have taken my PC back there to have my antivirus software updated.... and again I was welcomed with fast, friendly service. If you're like me, and you need a place to take your PC that's going to give you good service at a decent price, I would recommend these guys for sure. If you want to be treated like a cheapskate, because you won't fork over $1,200 for a new PC, you can take it to the other guys. Don't believe the hype. Save yourself the gas and time. Squad and Depot are in the business of selling new computers, not trying to help you save money by fixing the one that you already have. That's why they ask for so much money up front. Took my computer to them and pretty unhappy with the entire experience. It took them a month to do repairs. It was pretty bad communication between them and me, They would always say they would call, but it always be me who had to ask for a status update. The parts that they ordered they quoted me $60 plus labor. Looked online for the OEM part I needed and it was just $20 including S&H . the overall cost for the repair was more than $200. Also looked at my computer more in detail later and they put a piece of scotch tape on the enclosure button on the cd drive, it now pops open if that piece of tape isn't there. i also asked them to check my lcd cable because there were lines appearing on my screen,I asked to give me an update if anything more needed to be done for it. They didn't do any repairs on it and told me after I already paid they could order some more parts and fix it. At that point I just wanted my computer back and didn't want to order anymore repairs through their shop. read more

Found Friendly Computers online and as soon as I hit the site up popped a "chat"...so I engaged and described my issues. Needed a printer installed on a network, needed to upgrade my modem and re-install the external hard drive to wirelessly back up my data on two computers as well as tune up my wife's computer. They made an appointment the same day and were prompt in coming out. Tech was friendly and knowledgeable and got almost all the work done... The reason I can't give them 4 stars is two fold: one - their pricing mechanism is, IMHO, out of whack with real time. 1/4 hour increments is the norm in the service industry and they charge 1/2 hour increments. I found their hourly charge was reasonable but disappointed all the work did not get done in the promised "2 hours" committed. The other reason is that the external hard drive was too challenging for the tech despite the assurances of the person I talked too.....That did not get finished. Overall I am somewhat happy and would probably use them again but I'm not a raving fan.... read more

Had a mobile tech out to clone a new C Drive on a bigger SSD and he screwed the pooch. Ruined the original C drive and also the new one so the laptop would not boot. Friendly took the laptop in on Thursday afternoon and tried hard to get the new SST to boot the computer but, the drive could not even be read, same with the original drive so they reloaded Windows on the new SST, put the laptop back together and only charged an hour and a half labor. Now have my laptop back and working. Only problem is to load all the programs I had. Luckily my data was on a second drive. Friendly is not inexpensive but, they do the job quickly and well. When I arrived at the store, I was immediately helped and they did another diagnosis. It turned out the problem was beyond their expertise, but they recommended an online company that could help me (and had a discount code). I would give five stars if they would have been able to help. They were quick with answers and of course did not charge me for the diagnosis. I've used their services twice. First time was ok, trouble shooting a computer issue for me. The most recent time was to have a network cable line run from my router to some equipment. They said they could do it, they sent a guy to my house. He said he could do it and would email me a quote. Never got the quote. Two weeks later they claim sent me an email saying they can't do the work for me. But no email arrived here. And I do not use spam blockers or any of that so, fact is they didn't send an email and rather than acknowledge their mistake and correct the issue, they chose to blame the customer. Worst service ever! Don't go there. We took our computer in for diagnostics. Of course, they ran our credit card immediately but didn't get to work on our computer because, "there are so many other computers in line ahead of you". We recently experienced a situation where a caller identified himself as a Window program technician with a heavy Indian accent. This man was not legitimate after he was able to access our information on our personal PC. We immediately called Friendly Computers and "Brian" informed us to shut the computer down and hang up the phone. We had been scammed. Never Again. Crazy bad customer service. Stood me up for a house call, twice. Techs seem to be good, but terrible communication with "dispaching". When I called them to ask why they didn't show, the manager was full of excuses. Noone seems to take ownership of the customer's satisfaction. read more

Service was terrible. They would promise to be there at a retain time and never were. That included when they said they had to do it at the store. I was there at their opening time, they were not. Technician had to keep calling back to his boss for help. Took 3 weeks to get it repaired and it was still not fixed. When I went to pick it up they couldn't find it. They had to call someone to tell them where it was. Wiped out all my contacts and said there was no way they could get them back unless it came to the shop. Two more weeks go by and only a fourth were back. They also messed up the connection to my husband's network. Kept calling me Mr. When it is obvious I am a woman. Trying to talk to them was impossible. They would always stop the conversation to answer their cellphones or store phones. You were not the first priority let alone your computer. read more

I contacted this business the first time to have my computer go wireless so I could move to another room. After about 5 hours it was determined they were not able to do it, so my computer had to remain where it was. The tech was very nice and I felt like he was family since he had been in my home for so long trying to get the wireless thing going.....no luck. So.......I decided to buy a new computer so I for sure could have it wireless. Called Friendly to have them come out and install so I would not mess anything up and transfer my info from the old computer to the new one. The tech they sent out was super nice and I liked him a lot, however, when he went to transfer the info to the new computer.....it apparently crashed and would not operate at all. So....he gave me the bad (tragic actually) news that all of my info was lost, but maybe it could be retrieved at their shop or they could send it to another company for possible recovery. Since, this computer contained all of my information for my business which I have had for 13 years, it was devastating and still is. But, the guy took the hard drive to their shop to be evaluated and hopefully fixed. We called after a couple of days since no one had contacted us and they said they would let us know as soon as they knew. However, after a week I called and they asked if I really needed anything off of it since they were unable to fix it. I found this unbelievable since I had made it pretty clear that this represented my livelihood, so of course, I needed it....So, they told me to send it to a place in Wisconsin for possible recovery......and yesterday as soon as I left their shop with my dead hard drive I sent it off to Wisconsin. I am now conducting my own prayer vigil for the deceased hard drive. What the tech should've done before he removed the hard drive from my old computer was ask me if I had the information backed up and I would've said no and we could've backed it up while the computer was working perfectly. The reason I hired someone to do the work is because I am not a computer person and don't pretend or want to be one. So, I totally depend on the professional to keep me out of trouble like this and this could've been avoided. Also, not contacting me as soon as they realized they were not going to be able to fix it is unforgiveable......and set me back a few days from sending it to the recovery company. Plus, the estimate from the recovery company, assuming they can fix it is over $1000. This is not the way to grow your business. read more

After the latest Windows 10 update my computer had come to a crawl and I was not able to access my programs. It was almost useless. She and Rafael worked together to understand my computer problems and explain the solution to me. Rafael evaluated my laptop and recommended a new hard drive. My aging Dell laptop now has a new solid state hard drive installed and is running like a new computer. I opted to have Avast virus protection installed for two years through Friendly Computers. I was also given information for the on line resources to help me reload my Cannon printer and information on accessing Malwarebytes on line for for extra protection. Serviceman came and fixed ?? the problem-charged -$130. Within two days same problem. I did not call to complain for two weeks they sent the serviceman back and he claimed to discover an additional virus and since I didn't call for two weeks and complain they charged an additional $116. In the email he berated me by telling me "There is a brand new innovation called a resume" and linking me the definition of resume. Then he and accused me of "hijacking" their scheduling software in an attempt to get them to notice my work history. From the email I could tell it was an automated system for forwarding job applications to the stores but apparently Ron could not realize that. Horrible experience with this business. 7/14/2015. It took over 2 weeks to even diagnose my computer after they told me it would be done in a week at most. Once they finally diagnosed it with a corrupt hard drive, they returned my computer with the cover full of dust and the employee stated "its obviously very dusty here in the store" in response to my concern regarding the dirty cover. They failed to return computer charger to me as "Someone failed to place the tracking sticker on your charger". They attempted to send me home with a charger they thought would work and if it didn't would purchase me a new one. Longer story short the owner stepped in, they mysteriously found my charger laying around, gave me 10 dollars to dry clean the computer cover and tried to sale me their "in house refurbished computer" Thanks but no thanks. I don't mind spending money on repairs or even a new computer all together. But not re purchasing due to the mishaps of others, or the sake of ignorant employees for that matter. read more
