Hamantaschen Ruglach Challah Double Chocolate Babka

Babka was unbelievable! It was so chocolatey and dense in the best way. It seemed like we got a really big piece, but it did not last long. It was a small shop, but the selection was overwhelming (also in the best way). The employee was very nice and gave us a glove and bag and told us to fill it up. There were lots of pastries, cookies, and other desserts. Everything was priced by weight. Oneg and Michaeli bakery are now my favorite babkas in the city. I will definitely be back!

Best Babka ever! I decided to order a Babka from here after seeing all the great reviews on Instagram by ChrisCaresnone aka "The Babka King" - I had it shipped from NY to Los Angeles! Expensive, yes! But I always say you get what you pay for and this Babka was perfection! I shared it with some of my family and friends and they all loved it! I ordered the double chocolate and it was so rich and decadent. Next time I'll order the regular chocolate Babka. I can't be trusted with it in my freezer because I will eat it every day! I love it frozen! The service was great - it shipped and arrived in 3 days.

Looking for some babka and rugelach, and discovered Oneg was a few blocks from where we were staying in Williamsburg. Trekked over and sampled the richest babka I've ever had, super chocolately and dense. This place cranks out some serious goodies. Not to be missed if in the area.

Alright, Bubby - sit down, be quiet, and listen. Chances are, if you are reading this, you have no clue. Welcome to Williamsburg, Brooklyn, home to one of the largest concentrations of Chasidic / Ultra-Orthodox Jews in the world. Oneg Bakery is in the midst of its literal world. Be respectful to the men working at this location; They are swamped. Yes - all the hype is true; this is quite possible. Why don't we just be honest? This is where the greatest Babka on planet Earth can be found. Anyways - You get what you pay for. They take credit cards. Parking doesn't exist; however, I was fortunate enough to see some on a Friday afternoon. Don't be a shmuck; they have one flavor of Bobka only. This is not your typical Jewish Bakery; again, they specialize in Babka; they have a few other items that are simply delicious. It is a school and an authentic place. It's worth the shlep! The staff was very kind and facilitated carrying my 4 Bobkas to my pickup truck. I made some people back in North Carolina very happy. Challah was amazing!

Yes, this is the only Babka worth eating in this city. Nay, the world. It's rich and chocolatey and all the other things everyone says about it. But the real star of this little bakery is the onion rolls: a beautifully baked challah dough packed with sautéd onions inside of it. This is not an onion bun like you'd make a sandwich out of. It is like a jelly doughnut, except the filling is heaps of onions and poppy seeds. It's amazing. Go for the babka. Stay for the onion rolls.

The chocolate babka from Oneg Bakery was on my To Do list for years and I finally went a few weeks ago and it did not disappoint. The shop is small and unassuming but you're not there for the ambiance or the decor. It's all about the babka and it is excellent. Just go and get it. I really like the babka from Zaro's and Breads Bakery, but Oneg is better.

Oneg Bakery is the real deal Jewish Bakery with babka worth' driving 20 minutes off your path for.. which I just did. Wow. Love good Jewish bakery and this is the real McCoy well not McCoy but this is it. Babka (chocolate) so good looking you feel bad to ask them to break one up but they kindly do and did. The whole one is huge and good if bringing or having company. Jacob one of the Oneg patriarchs was so helpful , makes me want to go back just to say hi. Happy days picking up some cinnamon rugelach and hamentachen. Got extra to share with my companion and to send some home with. Bookmark this real deal bakery and make a pilgrimage.

OPEN FOR BUSINESS!! Not sure why 'Yelpers report this location has closed' because as of 9/3/2021 they are very much still open! Seeing that notification gave me a panic attack because I will detour out of my way to get their Babka whenever I'm in New York. I called the shop to make sure they were open and the man who answered had no idea why I'd even think to ask. "Of course we're open! Come!" He beckoned. I went in person and confirmed. They are in fact open :) Owners/staff are super friendly, and the babka is delicious. Best in New York from what I can tell. Freshly baked and rich with chocolate. I gift it to my Jewish friend(s) and it's always a hit. The smell of the shop is breathtaking -- all the breads and baked goods send me to special place (see photos). I've been here now a handful of times and 100% will continue coming back.

I visited during COVID season. Place is packed with no mask on. I am indeed terrified. But food is much more important than getting COVID. I bravely quickly stepped in and welcomed by the friendly owner. I ordered whatever they offered and pay the cash Anyway this is something crazy. Their sweets are very old school and with some best quality in nyc. I sincerely hope they can wear masks so I can come back soon. Or I then have to wait til COVID is over. Overall:4.5 stars. Its weighted by pounds

The babka here is amazing! It is very chocolatey and was pretty fresh. The edges were nice and crispy as well! I spent about $20 for a 1/4 loaf and it was more than enough for me! The workers all seem very friendly as well. I will mention that no one in the area wears masks so if you are worried about COVID, I would not recommend coming here!

Babka, double chocolate, delicious, gooey, not too sweet, dense, heavy. It was a gift so I don't have sticker shock.

Ask the Community - Oneg Bakery

Does anyone know if they're open on Saturday? Their updated Google hours say they're open but it says closed everywhere else. Thanks!

They are certainly NOT open Saturday or any other Jewish holiday. They close early Fridays too, in advance of Shabbos. People come in before Shabbos (Sabbath) to get what they need.

How much are the chocolate babkas? And are they sold by weight?

Yes, they are sold by weight. May want to call and check in in case prices change over time, but I found it to be pretty reasonable.

Do you ship Chocolate Babkas, to Los Angeles, California?

Yes, Oneg Bakery ships Nationwide all of their Online products including babkas!!

Do they mail chocolate babka to Maryland?

    Yes, Oneg bakery ships Nationwide!!

Ngl a $15 croissant should be illegal...but I went speechless after the first bite. SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY I am not even a huge mango lover like anybody does, but WOW this mango croissant was seriously the BEST mango pastry EVER. The pastry shell held flaky and crunchy, and the center was filled with a labneh cheesecake and mango gelee. We were surprised the filling wasn't liquid-y at all and held up well! We also tried the new Artichoke and Green Garlic Foccacia ($9), and the Fennel and Sausage Foccacia ($9). I get their foccacia slice every time I'm here and they never let me down. So pillowy and delicious.
