I don't enjoy leaving bad reviews but BIG YIKES…read more Absolutely Horrific Experience--Avoid at All Costs! If I could give this place negative and/or zero stars, I would. I walked into this empty nail salon, which should have been my first red flag, but I figured, hey, maybe it's just a slow day. Nope--it was a slow business because this place is a nightmare. First, I was sat in a broken chair that wobbled like it was about to collapse. No menu, no options--just straight to faking the funk of work. The pedicure itself lasted less than 9 minutes (yes, I timed it), and for $60, I expected at least some level of care. IInstead, the technician hacked away at my nails so aggressively that I started bleeding profusely--like, actual blood dripping down my foot. My toenails have been bleeding over a week........And do you think the nail tech acknowledged it? Nope. No apology, no effort to stop the bleeding, just a complete ice out before moving on to the next tragedy. I was in pain, bleeding, and stuck with a nail color I hated. When I politely mentioned I was bleeding and didn't like the color, I was completely ignored. Like I wasn't even there. No fix, no concern--just blank stares. When I mentioned the broken chair, no help. I was sincerely the only customer. It was disgusting. As if this horror show wasn't enough, they rushed me out like I was some kind of inconvenience, assuming I didn't have the money to pay for my service ....mmmMind you, there were still no other customers in the building, so what was the rush?? Maybe they knew they did a terrible job and didn't want to deal with the aftermath. Tbh I'm not sure but I was deeply repulsed regardless. Long story short: this place is an absolute joke. Do yourself (and your toes) a favor and go literally anywhere else. I'm grateful they let me know that my business isn't wanted here. Never again bro.

I then asked for a manicure and shellac paint job. I mentioned there was left over dip polish on nails and she used a nail file to remove it. She didn't even brush my nails. I've been a client of Shelby's for almost 4 years now, and I have never been disappointed. Shelby…read moreis a true artist and professional, dedicated to making sure her clients feel beautiful when they leave her salon. She pays attention to every single detail; my nails always look perfect and I receive so many compliments from family and friends. I get them done every 4 weeks, and they last the entire time between appointments. It's been fun to get creative with my nails - I'm usually a minimalist when it comes to polish, but over the years we've done some fun nail designs with stickers, freehanded nail art, and chrome or magnetic details. I've also had a few dry pedicures with Shelby over the years, which are absolutely luxurious! If you haven't had a dry pedicure, I cannot recommend Shelby's service enough - it is ultimate pampering with hot towels, a scrub, and a rich, moisturizing cream, amongst other relaxing steps. Shelby is also passionate about continuing her education and refining her craft. And to top it all off, she's a lovely human inside and out. I'm lucky to have found her and Nails by Shelby, and I'm lucky to call her one of my friends. She is truly the best!!

I found Shelby via Yelp in 2015, so I have been seeing her every 4 weeks for 9 years! Now my…read moredaughter is starting her structured mani and dry pedi journey with Shelby. I won't go anywhere else and recommend Shelby to everyone that is willing to put the time/effort and related cost into their nails. If you value your time and money, and want the best looking, most healthy nails, you will not regret choosing Shelby! Here is my story . . . I used to be a bi-weekly plain gel mani and gel pedi for years (for work reasons I was afraid to have any length/structure added - worried about chips/breaks). But I was getting tired of trying to find salons that fit my schedule, were reasonably priced and in Vancouver (lots of trips to portland). I wanted a nail tech/manicurist that I could build a long term business relationship with. Enter Shelby. After building a relationship and trust, Shelby was able to convince me to try her structured mani. Life changing!!! Yes, Shelby's structured mani and a gel pedi takes 3-4 hours (she is a perfectionist), and the cost is reflective of the quality of work (see her info for current pricing), but I have absolutely beautiful nails and my preferred length, with no chips/cracks/damage, for 4 full weeks! That was it for me and I have never been back to plain gel manis. As a busy working mom, I don't have the time for bi-weekly visits for nail appts. And who wants to try to get in on short notice when they damage their nails? I schedule in advance the time needed for Shelby to do the job right, and then I don't have to think about it for another 4 weeks! And once you look at how much you spend in both funds and time with bi-weekly appts for fills, you will see Shelby's more thorough 4 week schedule costs about the same. And while I like to keep my structured manis on the shorter side, Shelby will tailor clients length, shape and style to their particular tastes. So check out her instagram or Facebook for inspiration photos or bring your own and ask her if she can do it for you. She is down to try anything. Did I mention her nail art skills? Stamps, free hand, stickers, charms/add-ons? Shelby is a wizard at making your nails look amazing and different than everywhere else. And her beautiful private studio? Quiet and peaceful! You and Shelby just visit and laugh, bonding, without having to worry about others overhearing your conversations or having to shout over the din of a busy salon. It is clean, well lit, well stocked and you can see the love she has for her business and profession through out. Shelby's a busy lady and a real boss-babe. But if you can get an appt with her and become a regular client, you will have found the best kept secret in Vancouver for amazing nails!

My husband found Dee who is a barber/stylist/colorist on a whim and a chance. Normally my husband would not set foot into a "girly salon"....but thankfully he did because he met Dee. Dee has cut his hair perfectly on three separate occasions in the past 3ish months. I met Dee by going with my husband on one of his visits. I immediately found him very friendly and charismatic. I scheduled my first appointment after grilling him on his past experience. Before my appointment Dee texted asking for pictures of what I would like to do with my hair specifically . He wanted to make sure he had the correct color and or products in stock. Dee was ready and waiting when I arrived for my appointment. I was offered a beverage -coffee, tea, water or a soda. We then spent some time discussing the best plan action plan for my hair. After the weave was complete he washed and styled making sure the color was even and to my liking. When I left I scheduled my next appointment for myself and my husband. Dee is new to the area and building his clientele so appointments are easier to get....this will not last long so get in while you can, he is a Gem! Take it from someone who has spent a ton of time in a beauticians chair, I know a good one when I experience one. His prices are reasonable and fair compared to other salons in the area.

Nail Salon Horror Story (Perfection Nails 9/7)…read more I've been going to Perfection Nails in Hazel Dell on and off for about the last 5 years, but I stopped going as often since every time I went, each tech charged differently for the same service and the quality was inconsistent--especially if I wanted something other than a basic one-color manicure. Anyway, I decided to go yesterday because it was the only nail salon open near me, and I'd never had a crazy experience there before--just things like uneven shaping or needing a fill sooner than 2 weeks. My appointment was at 1 p.m. for both a pedicure and a manicure set. I arrived before my scheduled time and let the technicians know I had an appointment. I waited about 15-20 minutes before a man called me over to his table. I asked for an acrylic set and a basic manicure (cuticle trim, etc.). Everything started off fine. I hadn't had him do my nails before, but I'd seen his work and was excited to try someone new. He started by cleaning my hands and doing the usual prep. Once he finished applying and shaping the acrylic, he began working on my cuticles. When he got to my ring and middle finger on my left hand, he cut way too much, and I started bleeding everywhere. I was on the phone with my partner using a headset, so I wasn't paying close attention until I felt pain and saw blood all over my fingers. He was trying to wipe it up with a used rag and even attempted to use nail glue to stop the bleeding. I immediately told him to stop and said I needed to wash my hands because that was not a clean or safe way to handle the cut. After cleaning up, I noticed he had taken a chunk of skin off, and the bleeding continued for about 10 more minutes. I sat there holding my finger and asked him what happened. He told me my cuticles were dry. I apologized but made it clear I did not want him using nail glue to stop the bleeding. Mind you, this was the most I've ever bled in a salon. After the bleeding stopped, he continued painting my nails and asked me to check them. I noticed the middle finger on my right hand was crooked. When I pointed it out, he insisted it was just my finger. We went back and forth for a while until I finally asked if he could at least try to fix it, because it was clearly pointing in a different direction than the others. At this point, I honestly wanted to leave, but I still needed my pedicure. Another lady called me over to her station. I had previously gone to Reflection Spa/Nails, and they had done an amazing job--even applying acrylic over a broken toenail on my big toe to even it out. I explained this to the pedicure tech at Perfection, and she said it was fine and that she would soak it off. By then, I had already been there for 2 1/2 hours and just wanted to relax. I put a show on my phone, kept one headphone out in case she needed me, and let her start. There was a bit of a language barrier, so another tech had to interpret at times. Instead of soaking the acrylic off, she just filed it down and then started trimming my cuticles. Once again, she cut too much, and I started bleeding. She apologized immediately, and I told her it was okay, just to please slow down and be careful. She continued, but when she was cleaning under my toenail, the tool stabbed me under the nail. At that point, I just wanted to get out of there. I ended up paying for everything but didn't tip because of all the cuts I got. My reason for posting is to find a new nail spot to go to in Vancouver and to spread awareness of my experience. L

Especially since she's limited in movement and would have to avoid driving for a bit while she recovers. One of those outings was for her and I to get a mani-pedi. The space is large with the nail station tucked on one side of this shop and opposite, at least 6(?) pedi chairs. Chairs were comfortable and sinks were lined which I liked. Tools are sanitized and new buffers+files are individually wrapped- which I also appreciate. Two sisters, the owner and someone else worked simultaneously on our manis+pedis. They were super pleasant and had delicate hands. Good. I wanted my services to be better. By the time we got here, it was an hour to closing. My kid and I knew that although both our manis+pedis would take more than an hour, that these folks would still go through the motions accordingly without rushing both jobs and worse, beating the clock. I get it- we all want to get home- but both our manis+ pedis were $65ea and was way too much money for polish that I had to remind my nail tech to fix around the edges. My kid and I left feeling more stressed than relaxed.
