My husband found Dee who is a barber/stylist/colorist on a whim and a chance. Normally my husband would not set foot into a "girly salon"....but thankfully he did because he met Dee. Dee has cut his hair perfectly on three separate occasions in the past 3ish months. I met Dee by going with my husband on one of his visits. I immediately found him very friendly and charismatic. I scheduled my first appointment after grilling him on his past experience. Before my appointment Dee texted asking for pictures of what I would like to do with my hair specifically . He wanted to make sure he had the correct color and or products in stock. Dee was ready and waiting when I arrived for my appointment. I was offered a beverage -coffee, tea, water or a soda. We then spent some time discussing the best plan action plan for my hair. After the weave was complete he washed and styled making sure the color was even and to my liking. When I left I scheduled my next appointment for myself and my husband. Dee is new to the area and building his clientele so appointments are easier to get....this will not last long so get in while you can, he is a Gem! Take it from someone who has spent a ton of time in a beauticians chair, I know a good one when I experience one. His prices are reasonable and fair compared to other salons in the area. read more

I got my brows, lip and chin waxed by Krystal today! I had a wonderful experience. She is a PERFECTIONIST! My brows came out looking flawless. She's great about checking in and making sure I'm pleased with the result. Even after she was done with the waxing, she went through with tweezers to make sure all of the hair was gone. I've seen Ashley Farrar since summer of last year and she's been helping me grow out and transition my aline bob to non aline. If someone told me it was gonna be this much of a pain to grow out, I would have possibly not gotten it. (Ashley did not give me the original aline). She has been amazing each visit. Salon Moxie in Vancouver, WA, is a gem of a find. The owner took time with me on the phone after a hair disaster and was able to fit me into Ashley's schedule for both a cut and color correction. All the stylists in the salon are friendly, helpful, and excellent. After my second appointment with Ashley I had to share what a great place this was and in hindsight I am thrilled that I had a horrific hair issue because it led me to the ladies at Salon Moxie. I had an event to go to that came about very suddenly so I within a day needed to find a stylist that could cut and color my hair. I called around to different salons to try and get an appointment that day and salon moxie was one of the few salons that had an available appointment and decent reviews so I went there. Let me just say I am glad I did! I am the type of person that will try pretty much anything to my hair and am very open to suggestions and I have been searching for a stylist that is willing to tell me what they think I should be doing with my hair and is willing to tell me what won't look good as well! Before going into salon moxie I had ombre done to my hair and wanted to stick with that but it wasn't exactly what I wanted. Erica was my stylist and she was very open and honest when it came to my hair. She made me feel very comfortable and even made some suggestions of her own on what she thought would look good on me, which I loved! Let me just say I will definitely be back and to quote my fiance I feel I have "found my stylist"! She did such an amazing job on my cut. I like my hair long but was sick of it and she magically cut my hair where it feels much healthier without cutting a ton of it off! It feels light and easy to deal with which is major since I have pretty long hair. My color turned out great too! It is definitely more of what I was wanting. Overall Erica is awesome and I will be going back to her for sure! I brought my mom in recently for hair service with one of the owners, Celinda. She was fabulous! For wash, style, and cut, it was competitive and I've never seen my mom's hair look better. Moxie is handicapped accessible, close to metered parking, and the other services like massage, nails, and esthetician are amazing. You really can't go wrong with any of their services. read more

Everyone probably knows when you find that one stylist who meshes with you it's hard to come by again. Beth has given me the best cut and color probably ever. I used to love this place but am still suffering the after-effects. It was my fault for choosing such a drastic color difference but when my hair didn't turn out normal and looked and still looks damaged I was begging these guys to squeeze me in and help me repair the damage somehow. I was going to a conference and couldn't be seen with bleach blond hair that was damaged and almost white coming from a previous dark brown color. Granted this was my decision to do this but I could have been warned and/or helped with a treatment at least. I am still traumatized. Love, love, love this place. When I was new to Vancouver this was the first place I tried. The stylists are awesome and so friendly. Erica is amazing and so talented. She always listens and gives me exactly what I want. She is always willing to go a little funky if that's what you like. I also see Tina on a regular basis. Let me tell you, if you have unwanted hair she won't rest until it's gone. She uses hard wax for bigger areas and it makes all the difference. I had a great experience here. Erica took me as a walk in and did a fantastic job on my hair in which I've have received numerous compliments. She also was so great about communicating and also gave me great pointers on how to style my new "do". I recommend this place and in particular Miss ERICA. Salon Moxie is very clean and the staffs there are very nice! Jenne Grogg has been doing my hair for years! Since I was 16 years old! She's wonderful! I have followed her from her previous salon! Jenne takes her time and listen to what you want! She does amazing up dos too! She traveled to my wedding venue to do my hair for my special day!! Her rates are very reasonable! Also she offers free bang trims in between hair cuts! I highly recommend jenne when it comes to Long hair! I have really long hair... I did not have a good experience here. Thought I would save a few bucks over the salons I usually visit in Portland, and try out a small local place for a haircut. Salon Moxie sounded good from the few Yelp reviews there were. But my advice is this: Know who you want to see, if you give them a call. When I made the appointment, they scheduled me with Jerica, who was new to the salon. During the appointment, she struck me as a bit unprofessional, but I shrugged off the immature conversation. You can't have everything, and all I needed was a good haircut. Mine is a mid-length layered cut, not too tough and actually pretty forgiving. I didn't ask for much, just to shape up the layers and take the ends off. She seemed to understand and charged ahead, but halfway through sort of stopped and seemed uncertain. She continued cutting, but stopped a lot of times and asked questions all the way through. I began thinking, "Uh. . . you have done this before, right???" By the time she asked me if I wanted it shaped around my face, I had lost confidence in her abilities and said "no, that's okay, it looks fine this length." Which I guess she took to mean, "you shouldn't touch the front any more", because the front layers on each side of my face ended up being uneven when you compared left and right. ::sigh:: What I walked away with was sub-par. She even cut a chunk of my bangs way too short while trying to razor-cut them. And when she accompanied me to the front desk to ring me up, she waited until AFTER I had presented my credit card to make a face and say "ohhhh, yeah, I don't have my credit card machine set up yet." She couldn't accept credit or debit, something that would have been VERY USEFUL to know in advance! I ended up walking to an ATM to withdraw cash for this woman, and she wasn't even apologetic. Maybe I caught Jerica on a bad day, but I will not be back. read more
