We stopped in to grab a cup of coffee and a pastry. What an adorable place! We were greeted by a very friendly Lady who made us feel at home. The inside is pretty with linen table cloths and artwork done by local artists of Rye Beach and the Boardwalk. We ordered a cinnamon coffee cake, a cup of coffee, and an iced tea. The cinnamon coffee cake was hot and fresh out of the oven. Just delicious! Coffee was freshly brewed and the iced tea was perfect. We will be back for lunch soon! read more

One of my favorite breakfast places in Westchester. My fiancé and I usually go here and then head for a walk at the beach. Their pancakes are some of the best around. They taste delicious and are so fluffy and airy. They also have the best omelets and home fries. The cafe is run by a husband and wife. They are the sweetest and kindest people. If I could give it a zero, I would. The menus are filthy. Not a good look to start. The pancakes are thick, doughy, with a terrible aftertaste that lasted all afternoon. My dining companions, who ordered well-done scrambled eggs and toast, received a plate of gooey yellow stuff and soggy, cold toast. The server was rude, spoke in a loud voice, and seemed annoyed to have to take our orders. At meal's end, I took note that it was cash only and paid by Zelle, using the phone number listed on their website. It didn't go through. The manager gave me a completely different number, and then said use the QR code, which I finally did, holding up my party, who were anxious to get out of there after experiencing the filthy restroom. When I saw that the payment went through, the establishment had a different name: "We're On The Way." Come on, man--put your Zelle number on the check--make it easier to pay, at least! We called about 30 minutes prior to inquire if they has space for a party of 9. When we arrived, our table was set up! We were greeted and escorted to our seats. The service was very friendly! The woman who explained the menu and specials to us seemed to be one of the owners. She made great recommendations. I decided on the crab and goat cheese omelet which was delicious! I am a huge fan of goat cheese, so I appreciated this addition. Others had pancakes and French toast which were said to be fresh and delicious. I had read good reviews and was looking forward to trying this place. the service was pretty abysmal - for a place the specializes on breakfast, they did not seem ready for a Sunday crowd (and it wasn't even full). The bathroom was really dirty - the floor looked like it hadn't been mopped in months. We ordered the special eggs in purgatory - almost inedible. the tomato sauce was nothing special and the bread underneath was completely soggy. I had asked for my eggs to be cooked medium and they were super runny. Coffee was weak. We left and had to go home and eat breakfast again because we could only eat a few bites. I have heard the baked good are good, so maybe we just should have had scrambled eggs and a muffin. I won't be going back. read more

Have been here twice and thought it was alright both times. Definitely pricey for what you get. I got the parmesan and chive omelette with home fries and toast, all of which was good. My husband ordered the buffalo omelette, which sounds interesting, except it was just eggs with cholula hot sauce poured over it, womp womp. Also, the portion sizes are waaay small; serving the meal on square plates that were far too big made the amount of food look almost comical. We also ordered a short stack of banana walnut pancakes, which they are known for. The pancakes themselves were good, on the small side (of course), and priced at what a full stack should be. And the syrup we were given was weirdly not sweet? I don't even know how it's possible to have unsweet maple syrup, but here we are and that unfortunately kind of ruined it. On the previous occasion, my husband ordered a corned beef sandwich he thought was great, however my meal wasn't as memorable as I can't recall it. The food itself is not the issue, it's the portion sizes, especially for the price, and having a cantankerous waiter didn't help either. I was debating between 2 or 3 stars, but then the image of my husband eating my toast to try and feel full popped in my head and that's just unacceptable. Great little diner type restaurant, but with a fine dining twist. Really glad to have found this place! I came on a recommendation and was instantly impressed. Recently saw that it got a nice right up in the Times, so Im sure many more folks will be grabbing a seat at the counter. I came for lunch, however I'll be back soon to check out the breakfast menu. It is located just across the street from the entrance to Playland Park, which means you can go for a stroll along the boardwalk after you chow down. I tried the tomato soup special and built my own burger. The burger was scrumptious and very well cooked. Parking is a little tight for this location out front, but there is a lot around back if you go down the side street behind the market next door. "THREE" EGG OMELET: $14.00 The omelet, which is stated on the menu to be a three egg omelet, is the smallest three egg omelet I've ever ordered. And at $14.00 it is really a bit ridiculous. The amount of home fries was small as well. Even the size of the slides of rye toast are small. Tasted fine but nothing memorable. SIDE OF SAUSAGE: $5.00 In addition, I ordered a side of sausage for $5.00. Three jones pork sausage sized sausages. At $1.66 each, and tasting similar to jones pork sausages, no value or quantity here to justify $5.00. For $34.00 total (without tip) for a "three" egg omelet, toast, 3 sausage links, four or five forks fulls of home fries, 2 short stack pancakes and coffee: it's a "Rye" type of place to have breakfast.
