The service here has progressively decreased from exceptional to less than acceptable. There is no professionalism, follow up or direction. The service is sub par with their hires, no urgency or thoughtfulness. Food is left to get cold in the window. Even today, we ordered two egg and cheese sandwiches that arrived without the egg. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. The service in this place is terrible and it is genuinely a dirty place. First of all, it takes us 20 minutes to order our food and 45 minutes to receive our water. My water came with dirt bits and hair in it and even the new one I asked for was cloudy. The kitchen is very very slow as our food didn't come out for 30 minutes after our water. This was ridiculous because it was not even remotely busy. Multiple people had to walk up to the kitchen to ask for someone to take their order. And if you thought it couldn't be any worse, right before we received the rest of our food I was informed that they were out of pancakes, which is what I ordered. I am very disappointed because I had heard really good reviews for this place based in the city. PLEASE avoid the location in Rye. Save your time, money, and patience. It's a sh*t show read more

Staff seems more concerned on having a party than actually serving. Cooks in the back joking around and cursimg. It's happened multiple times now where they've forgotten orders. Watched our food getting cold for 10 minutes before serving. Managers right in the mix joking around rather than managing. The is a lovely looking place when you look in the window, and entering the restaurant the cases full of baked goods are welcoming. Unfortunately it's is overpriced and underperforms which leaves one to wonder how a restaurant in a busy upmarket village can fail so badly and not realize how badly they treat potential customers. All the bowls our food and coffees were served in were cracked: a health department violation. The underneath of the tables are not smooth (sharp enough to tear or snag your clothing) and the food, let's just say it was easier to leave it uneaten and pay the bill. We stopped by for brunch on the road because we need a spot to change the baby and spread out from other diners. I took the day off from work and decided to explore some breakfast options in place of my usual routine. Days off call for special breakfasts, right? I did a quick search through my bookmarks and snooped around my friends' reviews and Le Pain Quotidien stood out. I was in the area so I decided to take a stroll to Rye and check it out. Le Pain is a Belgian-based chain that serves baked goods, coffee-based drinks, and other breakfast/lunch foods. The menu kind of reminded me of what Panera would serve, but fancier. Most of their locations in the NY metropolitan area are in Manhattan, though there are a few spots outside the city (including this lone location in Westchester). The atmosphere oozed opulence - walking in you're immediately greeted by the large display case for takeout followed by an open dining area with tables scattered throughout. A focal point is a long communal table that stretches down the dining room - something I learned is a standard of all Le Pain locations. The place looked stunning - lots of light woods, tons of tasty pastries on display, and faint classical music playing in the background. They offer table service; when I entered a sign instructed me to seat myself, so I found a table and there was a menu already there waiting. The breakfast frittata stood out so I decided to go with that. In addition to the main star, it was served with two slices of bread and a side salad. The frittata was okay - it contained goat cheese and asparagus which sounded amazing but overall I felt the flavor and consistency fell short - almost like it was left out a little too long. The salad was fine, nothing too amazing. The bread was really good, it looked dry but was actually really nice and chewy; I also appreciated the butter not being frozen solid so I was able to spread it right away. Service was fast to start, but it took a while for my plate to be cleared and to flag someone down to get my check. I can imagine a lot of Westchester moms sit here for a while and mingle, but I was by myself and my laptop had been put away so I think you can tell I wasn't looking to stick around much longer. Overall I wasn't wowed by the food - atmosphere was nice but Le Pain isn't in my backyard so I don't think I'll be back. If you live in Rye this might be a good option, but it's not a destination eatery. read more

On our way back home from a weekend getaway, my fiancé and I stopped in this location to grab some lunch. We both decided to have the tartine open-faced sandwiches. The food was great like any other le pain location. The servers did give us good customer service, but I did have to dock a couple of stars for cleanliness on the tables. When we first arrived we noticed that several tables that were busted for new customers still had crumbs or small particles of food that could be easily cleaned up. We even noticed at the table we sat at had remanence of bread crumbs on the table. As a customer at any restaurant I would expect that the employees would fully clean their tables of crumbs and food scraps. Other le pain locations I've been to the employees would use a paper and scraper tool to swipe away any food scraps before handing your bill. read more

I don't want to give you the wrong impression and tell you that Le Pain's heart lies on solely their (Chocolate) pastries or other baked goods. Because it doesn't. But do want to mention that while I'm in the subject, all their baked goods are in fact tasty. Take for instance their chocolate croissants- oozing with the smoothest chocolate cream, chocolate chip cookies and chocolate tarts that are heavenly Aside from their chocolate tidbits, Le Pain has an awesome selection of breakfast and lunch-dinner items to satisfy any palate. My particular favorite is their vegetable quiche with a side of mixed greens with the lightest lemon vinaigrette (sans mustard) that I always grab. This is like your all-in-one eatery with a really nice and comfortable atmosphere to eat and lounge. Service is standard and honestly, the few times I've been there, it never lacks. read more

I was very disappointed with the Breakfast Sandwich I ordered. I do not like sunny side egg style and I was not expecting to have a sandwich made of runny egg that exploded all over my arms when I got my first bite. I had to go and rinse my hands/arms of the mess. The menu description did not specified the style off egg was sunny side but only organic egg. I wish I was asked if I like the eggs uncooked in my sandwich. The cappuccino was good and croissants have a good texture and flavor. This was an abysmal experience for an otherwise charming location. Ordered oatmeal with bananas, honey and walnuts. Was served tepid oatmeal with no bananas (they were out of bananas), and no honey (they were out of honey). Ordered two macaroons to go. Both were soft and stale. Had breakfast here with my tween daughter while traveling. She ordered the waffle, plain - no sugar, no whipped cream, and fruit on the side. It was served on a cutting board which seemed cute, but was hard to eat off, topped with sugar, berries, and whipped cream. They also brought her a side of extra fruit. The waffle was also burned. For food I ordered the yogurt parfait. It was served in a water glass (which is interesting because coffee and tea is served in small bowl-style mugs). Instead of layers, the parfait had a small dollop of yogurt on the bottom, filled to the brim with granola, and topped with two pieces of kiwi and a slice of strawberry. It was so tight I couldn't stir it and asked for a bowl. There was not enough yogurt so I was basically eating only granola. I also ordered a hot latte with almond milk. Waiter brought an iced latte. I asked for it hot and another waiter brought another iced latte. Finally got a hot one and it was made with dairy. We decided to pay our bill and leave as this was clearly a fail for breakfast. 2 stars because it smells like fresh bread and was busy so I'm sure this was just a one time issue. The chef was even able to perfectly cook the egg to my description, without over-cooking it. I loved my order, though a friend had some trouble with her order due to kitchen shortages, causing a delay in delivery time. If you have kids--and even if you don't--this is a great brunch/lunch spot. It's quite large and can accommodate a good amount of people, so we've never had to wait for a table. I always order the smoked salmon tartine--the salmon itself is delicious and fresh--and my husband loves their omelettes. For my two year old we get the mini dutch pancakes, which are just perfect for his little self. I always get a latte, usually good, although served lukewarm last time which was slightly annoying. I also usually splurge on a pastry or dessert, which are delicious. Flaky croissants, huge cookies and the a doughnut with the most delicious fresh whipped cream--drooooool. While the service definitely leaves something to be desired, I don't find it to be a dealbreaker. It's more indifferent and lax rather than directly rude. Hopefully management can work on that.
