What a great experience! Reasonably cost. I moved within NYC Manhattan from Midtown East to Lower East. Frank (owner) came to the apartment the night before the move to wrap all of the furniture. He was professional and easy to talk to. Movers (Mike and Maurice) arrived on time the next morning. They were respectful of the furniture/boxes/bags and moved everything with care. They went the extra mile to make sure the move was easy for me. I moved from an elevator building to a 2nd floor walk up. To help keep the process smooth I happily watched the moving truck so it didn't get a ticket, made sure the elevator (during move out) was waiting for them, helped with the small bags/boxes and (during move in) unwrapped furniture and folded the moving blankets. I couldn't not help with all the work and effort they were putting in to the move. It made a big difference. Everything arrived and nothing was damaged. Note: Tip well and provide movers with drinks and food/snacks. It goes a long way!! read more

Easily the best move experience I've ever had. It's thanks to Yelp that I found OTM USA so I'm returning the favor. Frank & his team were prompt, polite, professional, personable, & beyond reasonably priced. I did all the packing but needed help loading a U-Haul U-Box container to be shipped long distance. I had an above average amount of stuff for a 1BR move & booked them about a month in advance which I'm glad I did due to high demand in the pandemic. They picked up the box from the U-Haul facility, brought it to me on a trailer, loaded & returned it when it was done. We faced 95+ degree heat & a couple pop up rainstorms that they handled with ease. Frank is a logistics master & it was no small feat making all my things fit into that box. He helped me reinforce the boxes that needed it, wrapped my furniture, & handled everything with care. I'm relieved that it all worked out so smoothly in such a high-stress time & absolutely could not have done it without these guys. Would recommend their service to anyone looking to move in or out of the NYC area. read more

Avoid!! I have moved every 2-3 years in the past 15 or so years, and this was the worst experience I have ever encountered. I had our 700 sq ft apartment boxed up and ready to be loaded in the U-Haul. Instead of taking the estimated 2 hours, it took well over 5 hours! Frank showed up late and complained the majority of the time. He was not professional or communicative. I would NOT recommend to anyone! I have PTSD from this experience. read more

While loading my Uhaul Box at the parkslope location, Frank offered his expertise and physically helped my boyfriend and I get loaded. Appreciated his good dead; he definitely got this moving stuff down pack. read more

We had never used On the Move before, we just chose them from the U-Haul website for our cross-country move from New Jersey to California using U-Haul's U-Boxes. Frank was great with pre-move communication (about U-Box delivery time, Certificate of Insurance to enter the building, etc). The day of the move they were running late because the previous customer had underestimated how many U-Boxes they needed. We were fine with that, because we were running late with our packing, too... Once the movers arrived and started loading, I'll echo other reviews and say that Frank and his crew were wizards at packing an unbelievable amount of stuff into each U-Box. They were fast and efficient. Unfortunately for us, we too had badly underestimated how much stuff we had, and we were left with an entire U-Box's worth of stuff left over. We had ordered two (hoping we might only need one!) and we actually needed three. This is where Frank went above and beyond. It was already the end of the day, and we were flying out to California the next morning. So, in co-ordination with our super, Frank came back the next day with a third U-Box (we had to update our order with U-Haul of course) and packed all the remaining stuff into it while we were on a plane. Then at the local New Jersey U-Haul center, Frank oversaw the U-Haul staff re-balancing the loads between the three boxes (we had a lot of heavy stuff and those U-Boxes have a weight limit). He also got heavy-duty locks for me, because the locks I'd provided weren't strong enough. We just picked up the U-Boxes here in California, and all our stuff inside survived the cross-continent trip! The moral of the story: if you're in the NYC/New Jersey area, and you're using U-Boxes to move, then Frank and On The Move will make sure everything goes smoothly. The other moral: book one more U-Box than you think you need! read more

I recently completed a move that required significant coordination of multiple parties in a short period of time, including navigating very strict requirements from the building. Frank and Naomi were great--went "far above and beyond" in several ways to help ensure the move got done and got done well. The delivery crew was also great--courteous, hard-working and very nice guys. There is no question that I will ask On the Move USA to help me in the future, and I will recommend them to everyone. read more

Horrible. They showed up 4 hours late but kept calling and texting me to say they were "on the way." They cause damage to the wood floor of the house I was moving out of and told me they just scratched the surface. When I showed them the deepness of the scratch they told me to cover it with crayon. They damaged a closet door. When I pointed this out they claimed there was no way they could have done it (they did) and then got annoyed at me for pointing out damage. There was a lot of tension and stress between the team. One guy stayed on his phone much of the time. Toward the end I had to jump in and start carrying things and emptying out the basement just to get the job done- the new owners were there and waiting to take possession. Later I realized that they damaged and scratched almost every piece of furniture I own. They put one dresser in a weird position in my room (I was too exhausted and stressed to do anything about it that night) but when I went to move it the next day I realized they shoved it up against a wall to hide a huge gash in the dresser. It really is not worth it to have everything you own damaged and have them be so late and covering up all of their mistakes. read more

Frank with On The Move USA really great. I had a U-Box shipped from across the country and he collected it from the U-Haul location and unloaded all of the items to two locations. Due to a set of unfortunate circumstances, I had to schedule a same day move recently. Naomi and On The Move USA were fantastic and came through for me in every way. Naomi really jumped through hoops to make my move happen with only about 3 hours notice. She obtained a certificate of insurance, offered helpful advice about the Uhaul u-box service and communicated quickly, accurately and gracefully. The moving service itself was prompt, careful and efficient (thanks, Frank & Mike!). I would certainly use On The Move USA again and will recommend them to anyone who asks! read more

I had a great experience with On the Move USA - I hired Five Star Moving, their Uhaul-affiliated subsidiary to repack two Uboxes. The boxes had been overpacked by the moving company I originally hired, so I needed Frank and his team to move the items into three boxes, re-wrap exposed upholstery and seal mattresses and bedding for storage. I had already relocated to Washington, DC and couldn't be there in person to meet them. Frank stayed in constant communication and put my mind at ease by sending me photos of their work and explaining their decisions and approach to packing. He went above and beyond to make sure I felt confident my belongings would be safely stored and transported. I highly recommend! read more

I was incredibly nervous about my move from Brooklyn to Phoenix but it was so much easier thanks to Frank and his team. Frank reached out as soon as we booked our relocube and moving services through U-Pack. He answered all of my questions and even gave me suggestions for finding cheaper moving supplies. On the day of the move the team showed up on time and in just over an hour, they had our cube packed safely and securely. When we received our belongings in Phoenix, everything was intact and not a single item was damaged. Frank and his team are incredibly friendly, professional, experienced, and efficient. I've moved many times and I've never had such a positive experience as this. I 100% recommend On The Move USA read more

Frank & his crew moved me out of my NYC apartment on September 1, 2020, as hordes of people are fleeing NYC. It was a U-Pack move with a trailer, so we had to coordinate with an unknown arrival time of the trailer. U-Pack had told me between 10 AM - 12 PM and the service center thought that was likely but couldn't narrow it down. Frank showed up with one other guy at 10 AM, and they brought everything down to the lobby of my building. I waited in the lobby while they went to another job, because the truck had not arrived yet. When the truck did arrive, two of Frank's other guys walked in at the same time. By the time Frank and the first guy came back, the other two had almost everything loaded into the truck. They were professional, fast, and friendly. Frank worked hard to pack everything super tight and got my studio's worth of stuff into just 5 feet - the minimum of trailer space, which saved me the extra $$ to pay for another 2 feet. I would absolutely highly recommend these guys for a move into, around, or out of NYC! read more

Best NY area move I've ever had and I've had a few. We underestimated the amount of stuff we had to move. Frank and Dominique packed and then unpacked my rental truck in great time because they worked really hard. Frank packed the truck tight and safe and brought all the equipment to help. They were communicative, polite, professional, and our antiques were safe. Will definitely call Frank next time. read more

Ive moved so many times, and never have I ever actually enjoyed it. On The Move USA changed that!! These guys were so professional and fun that I was actually laughing and relaxed during the move!! The day was shaping up to be a nightmare, we had arranged a relo-cube drop off through another company and the driver and dispatch were flaking and didn't show up when they were meant to. I had to keep calling them to get updates of when they would show up. On The Move were so understanding and didn't mind that I had to change my timeframe at the last minute. They showed up right on time and helped me get everything safely packed. When the truck did show up, it started to snow very heavily! Yet my movers good spirits and hard work continued to exceed my expectations! In the end we were laughing and loading in the snow! By the looks of things I had WAY too much stuff to fit into the cube, but somehow, like magic, they made it all fit. I recommend them without any hesitations, you cant ask for a better moving experience at exceptional value. My only wish is that they would come to California and help me unload!!! read more

I'll be honest. I didn't get to use Frank's services because the management of the building I'm moving into were quite frustratingly unreachable in the timeframe I needed to hear from them to approve Frank and his crew. Despite that, and leading up to it, Frank and Naomi were both extremely helpful in trying everything to figure out how we could make the move happen and go smoothly. In the end Frank was willing to reschedule the move from Friday to whenever it could get approved, drive out to Paterson, NJ (which is technically outside his operating range!) the morning the management's voicemail said they'd be available and call from there to get the move approved and proceed. Side note: the UBoxes should not have been in Paterson in the first place since we are moving to Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. In addition to the insanely finicky and unavailable building management, this was another obstacle Frank and Naomi helped me navigate... and for what it's worth, Felicia at Uhaul was extremely helpful and understanding in trying to remedy the situation once it dropped on her desk. When I finally had to cancel on Frank he understood why I needed to get the move done asap and said he wished he could have done more! I was really impressed, and am still a little sorry for the headache I must have given Naomi with my barrage of emails. Thank you guys! read more

Excellent! Accommodating, friendly, fast, trustworthy, fair rates. Very pleased! Thank you, Frank!

I hired Frank because he was the most expensive and I believed he would be the best because of it. His initial communication with me was stellar. Frank promised to call my son to arrange delivery. He never did. I called Frank again when the UBox was said to have arrived in Brooklyn. He apologized and said he would call my son immediately. My son ended up calling Naomi, who I suppose is Frank's scheduler or receptionist in the office. She was polite, and rescheduled the shipment for an earlier delivery. Problem was, the UBox hadn't actually arrived to where Frank the Mover picks it up (even though the UHaul site said it had been there for three days) so the delivery was settled on with Naomi for the original date at 1PM. And on that date, while out walking my dog at 9AM, my cell phone starts going crazy with calls from one of Frank's helpers saying he was twenty minutes from my son's apartment. I was not at home but my wife finally answered my phone and began attempts to contact our son so the delivery fellows wouldn't waste their time. Frank was supposed to call my son, not me. His helpers did not have his number. Naomi did as she called my son a few times, only she didn't give the helpers his number. Long story short I finally got a hold of my son, he called the helpers, and met them at his apartment. Here is where things go further south. The shipment looked good, but when the expensive dining table arrived upstairs to the apartment it was scratched and dented. I have pics. Frank takes no responsibility for this and maintains my son is a liar, that my moving help "packers" loaded the table wrong, and the damage occurred during shipment. Frank is a bully (though he would have you believe I am). Uhaul pretty much sucks as well because I purchased insurance for the shipment and there is nowhere on their site to file a claim. A lot of good insurance does. I write emails and get nowhere. So basically, be forewarned when it comes to hiring Frank the Mover, who says he is a top notch carpenter too. You are on your own. As for my son, the shipment was for him, and included our household furniture we no longer needed and knew he could use. He is a professional who does not like to be bothered with petty things, and Frank and his helpers later calling him about the damage made him quite irritable. Frank told me my son said everything was all right. What that meant was, "take it up with my father I do not have time for this". So instead of Frank solving my problem, or even being polite about it, he gets condescending and preachy. Frank is obviously delusional, a real-time bully, and cares little for his customer's satisfaction. read more

Got this recommendation from my local U-Haul and was not disappointed. Moving can be a nightmare, but On The Move USA made it as smooth as they possibly could for me. Can't say enough about Frank--he's a stand-up kind if guy. Honest, professional, and a genuinely nice and helpful person. Jose and Maurice did my job, and I would describe them the same way. They loaded with care, like experts, and secured all of my belongings well. Don't plan on moving again anytime soon, but if I did, I wouldn't hesitate to call them. Highly recommend...THANK YOU! read more

Here's my two cents on Frank and his company. I'm giving him 5 stars even though Wednesday happened. Above and beyond. Let me explain... He was scheduled to pick up my Ubox, load it and then return it to the Uhaul storage facility at 9am on Wednesday. He never showed up. And, after several texts, he stopped responding after 4:30pm. Enraged, I held my tongue and sent him a message explaining the bind he'd put me in by not showing up. No name calling, no accusations. Finally called me back after 7pm and apologized profusely. Apparently, he'd gotten me confused with another job...blah, blah, blah...he'll make it up to me by doing the job Thursday morning for FREE. I took the bait. Thursday morning he texts saying that since my reservation for the Ubox was the day before, they aren't releasing the box. Oh, and even though it didn't require payment on the website when I reserved it, they required payment to actually, you know, use it. And, Uhaul was having trouble contacting me even though they'd successfully contacted me the day before (phones are hard). Somehow he gets it released and show up on time. Now, I have a lot...A LOT...of stuff and I was worried that it wouldn't all fit into this little 8x5x7.5' container. Couch, table with 6 chairs, dresser, dressing table and about 40 boxes were packed without room for anything else. Wizards. And, he and his friend took an old TV to the curb for me. And, he found a home for my beloved red dresser that I hated to part with but just couldn't justify moving because it's in need of some mega TLC. Plus, it wouldn't have fit. So, I'm forgetting about Wednesday. Frank and his crew are great. Uhaul, less than great. (Shocking, I know.) read more

We moved our stuff using two pods (U-Boxes) from San Diego to Brooklyn this summer. We had a TERRIBLE experience getting double billed, etc, you name it, with UHaul, and it was so nice to have On the Move USA as the last step of the process. Frank and Brian unloaded our boxes and brought them into the apartment quickly, safely, and so politely. Then, two weeks later, we found the couch we love at Costco, nearby on 3rd avenue, which was way too big to get into my little car. My husband called Frank, who fit our last-minute request in and gave us a great deal on a local transport. We will definitely be using On the Move USA for the next move! Thank you guys. read more

Wonderful experience, even with a flight of stairs (walk up), the hot weather and crazy New Yorkers freaking out while they tried to find parking (yeah people, keep honking, pretend you don't see the giant UHAUL written on the box, because moving isn't stressful enough!) The crew worked their tails off and were very flexible with having to move the Uboxes and get creative because of the parking situation. They had a little bit of a hiccup on the way to get my Uboxes due to truck issues, but kept me updated by phone regularly and had the whole thing sorted out very quickly. Frank even came out personally to deliver the second box to help speed things up (plus give his guys some much needed help on a hot day :). They even helped me with a heavy portable AC that the UPS guy refused to actually bring to my door (just left it downstairs) and some things that were packed into my car. Thanks for everything!! In response to some of the complaints, all I can say is this, moving is insanely stressful, and just driving around New York, let alone with moving trucks and Uboxes, is very stressful as well. Of course we all have schedules to keep especially if you have to reserve an elevator, but you also need to know when to relax, take a deep breath and work with what happens! It won't always be perfect, traffic and mechanical problems happen, but this company was a pleasure to work with and they did everything in their power to make the process as smooth and painless as possible. Most companies won't have the boss coming personally to help speed things up or offering to reimburse a 75$ fee from a building when the original scheduled times were changed (see previous reviews). Just my 2cents for what it's worth :). read more

I have never written a yelp review before, and this was such incredibly AWFUL service that I have to. Showed up EIGHT HOURS LATE. I repeatedly had to text Frank (the guy who owns this business, who also wrote the other one "review") to ask for time updates. He was backed up due to U-Haul, which was understandable, but was definitely not upfront about how long it would actually be and just kept telling me "almost there", and was 3 hours away from showing up. Then, and this is really where the service was TERRIBLE, I told him MANY times that I had a hurt back/shoulder and couldn't do any lifting. Really emphasizing the no lifting. It was only one flight of stairs, but I knew that my mattres, dresser, lounge chair etc would definitely need two people. My boyfriend was there to help, but it was his BIRTHDAY and after 6 hours of waiting had to leave to go to his party! Frank showed up with one other guy, they looked at my stuff, then Frank said "So I have to leave to go help my other guy in the city, I'll be back in like 1 hour though, it'll be totally fine. Don't lift ANYTHING, you don't have to do anything." The second after he left, his worker laughs and says "There's no WAY he'll be back. Definitely won't see him again tonight." Of course, he was right, Frank never came back, (this was at 9pm on a Saturday night), but he kept texting me saying he was "right over the bridge, almost there!". I, of course, had to help the other guy and threw out my back, and Frank's response "why doesn't one of your friends come help?" BECAUSE I HIRED YOU!!!! Ridiculous. Still had to pay full price. NEVER hire this company. Absolute bulls***ter. read more

Epic fail by Frank & Naomi. Assured movers would be there or I would have gone w/ another because of tight deadlines. I had to track Frank down when they were a no-show. Two men finally appeared 2 + hours late on a Friday afternoon. Frank had failed to properly schedule us and had dismissed all his men at noon. stress. We had an amazing experience with Frank and his team member. The day started with a frantic call from me when I realized that I had scheduled the pod delivery and movers for different days (sigh). Frank answered the phone bright and early and approached the whole situation with a "we'll make it work, don't worry" attitude that was SO appreciated. Frank rallied and was to my door with his friendly, capable team member in less than two hours. From there it was all a breeze. They had one man inside moving boxes from the apartment to the trailer, then Frank was inside the trailer as the magician of the packing puzzle. They wrapped my fragile furniture in the blankets and shrink wrap I had on hand before safely arranging them in the trailer. The packing job was truly pro. My load was going all the way from Brooklyn to Denver, CO, so I needed everything to be stable and secure. The true testament was when we opened up the trailer in Denver and the unload crew said, "That's the best load job I've ever seen. We're used to an avalanche of stuff when we take the supporting wall away." We are so appreciative to Frank and his team. They made a big move smooth and confident. Thank you!! read more

This is the second time we've used Frank and his crew. They did such a great job at a great value helping my elderly mother move about 3 weeks ago, that we decided to utilize their services again. Again, they pulled through in a professional manner. I called Frank the day before, and he did the work on that short notice. He picked up a sofa I had in Brooklyn, and then went to the Uhaul in Woodside Queens to pick up some furniture that I had in storage, then drove 120 miles into Pennsylvania to deliver and unload everything. Despite the bad weather they still made it all the way to PA! Thanks alot again! We will definitely work with On the Move, USA again in the future. read more

Horrible experience. Movers showed up 4 hours late because they thought they were unloading a 10-foot trailer when we hired them to load a 13-foot trailer. We were calling them periodically all day to make sure they arrived on time and they still did not. When we corrected them about the job description they responded with "oh yeah that's different." Once they arrived they told us they didn't have time to move our bed. We were left with a heavy king sized bed frame in an empty apartment and were forced to kick the bed into pieces to dispose of it. They also broke our $1200 3 year-old couch by forcing it into an elevator it fit in easily when we originally got it. They swore up and down that the broken couch was not their fault. We now have to purchase a new bed and a new couch. Our building management does not allow moves after 5pm and these guys showed up at 4:45. They ended up having to stay an extra hour because our management was giving us issues about moving so late. These movers then charged us for this extra hour. We also had to pay for our trailer to stay an extra two hours. When we spoke to management about all of this, they denied accountability and offered us a $50 refund "out of good will" after we already sunk thousands of dollars into this move. If I would have known I was going to lose my bed and couch in the process (my two biggest pieces of furniture), I wouldn't have hired movers at all. read more

Phenomenal service!!! I called On The Move USA for a last minute long distance move from two separate locations (New York and Boston) down to North Carolina. All of our belongings were delivered to our new home the following day! Nothing was lost or scratched. Naomi in the office who handled all communications right from the time of jotting down the inventory to be moved to the rate negotiation till I was charged after the move, she is a thorough professional and expert in what she does. Not many of the top rated movers have such expertise as Naomi. Naomi was also prompt in sending my landlords the certificate of insurance which was one of the critical documents that both my landlords required. Frank who is on the field agent that does the move with another helper is another expert in his own right - within minutes of his arrival, I could trust him with the entire move with least need for supervision. On the move USA absolutely did not waste any time just to prolong the move to charge me more, instead they moved so quickly as if they had other better things to do after my move. They were as cautious as if they were moving their own things. On the move USA is neither cheap nor pricey in my opinion - they charge just about right depending on how big or small the move is unlike most of their competitors who charge a hourly and flat rate irrespective of whether your move is small or big. I would say my move was small to medium - the only criticism if at all I have to say is that one of the other helpers that came with Frank accidentally dropped my 4 shelf organizer that made one of its 4 wheels to break. frank tried his best to fix it but apologized since he couldnt. He suggested to buy a pair of wheels for 40 bucks in any store. Also I had to call frank the following day sine I did not see one of the items after the move, he was patient enough to answer my call and told me exactly where he had even kept the item in my new house. If you were ever confused which mover should you hire and had no prior experience with movers, close your eyes and go with on the move USA. I am sure they'll make your life a lot easier and make the move less taxing on you physically and emotionally. read more

I used multiple different U-Haul "Moving Helpers" in the past and had great experiences, so I decided to use the service again for my latest move. I selected On The Move USA, and the service they provided was terrible and unprofessional. The move was scheduled to begin at 8 AM, and the movers didn't arrive until almost 9 AM (1 Hour Late). During this hour, the coordinator Frank, would not answer his cellphone, nor respond to any text messages. You can imagine how stressful that is when you are moving, and paying for a U-Haul truck by the hour. The movers also did not come with any tools, so who knows how they expected to take my furniture apart. Thankfully, I had tools close by and could supply them. When moving out of my current apartment, my Mom had to tell the mover to fill up the elevator first with boxes before sending it down. The mover wanted to take 1 box down at a time! No wonder they like to charge by the hour. My past U-Haul Movers hustled and tried to get the move done as fast as possible. One of the movers even asked if I could find my charger so he could charge his phone as he moved! Additionally, I spent extra money to purchase furniture pads from U-Haul to wrap my furniture in. None of them were even used, and my furniture arrived at my new apartment scratched and beat up. I thought wrapping furniture prior to packing it in a truck was an understood step in moving, but I guess with On the Move, you have to ask them to even do that. One of my furniture pieces also arrived to my new apartment broken, and needed to be thrown out. Not only did On the Move make my moving experience slow, stressful, and frustrating, it cost me extra money for the furniture I now need to replace. Do yourself a favor, and hire a different mover! read more

I recently moved from NY to LA and had to pack my entire apt. You can imagine how stressful this was and how I dreaded moving day. On The Move somehow made this process so amazingly low stress and I am so grateful to them. Everything from the first phone call to the last box being loaded was handled professionally. Whenever I had a question, Naomi in the office was always very friendly and helpful. And the movers Brian and Mike arrived right on time and immediately set me at ease. They came completely prepared with blankets and multiple hand trucks and they were friendly, fast, efficient, and careful. And they let me know right away that I had miscalculated the number of UBoxes I would need and I was able to immediately order an extra box with UHaul; this required On The Move to schedule extra time with me and they did this with no problems. I can't thank Brian and Mike enough - they stopped to explain anything I had questions about and they were so organized and systematic in how they packed my things and they were so careful with my breakables. This was the biggest yet easiest move I've ever had and I owe it all to them - thank you!!!!! read more
