This was the second time that we used this company for moving our apartment. Dave and his movers (4 additional guys came for our move) moved my roommate and I from a 2-bedroom in UES to a 2-bedroom in Williamsburg. They are the best movers I have ever used! Incredibly efficient and quick, I don't think any of them stopped moving for the 3-4 hours the move took. Everything delicate was perfectly wrapped and moved to the new apartment in one piece. They took apart all furniture that needed to be (beds etc) and put it back together in the new place, even putting rugs down first. They even went the extra mile of uninstalling our ACs for us since we didn't know how. Dave is also great because he is super responsive to texts/calls with any questions up to the day of the move. Was impressed with all of the communication! Their rates are great and the lowest I've seen from anyone in NYC, especially for the quality of service we were getting. All of my furniture and boxes remained in good condition, and he charged a reasonable price. They're very friendly but focus on getting the job done. Not only was the whole team super careful with our belongings, they are also just good guys. They carefully disassembled and re-assembled any furniture as needed, helped us pack up stuff we didn't get around to packing, and everything arrived in our new place in pristine condition, with each box and piece of furniture set down in the room we directed it to and placed several inches away from the walls to help avoid any potential damage to the freshly painted walls in our new place. I've used Dave and his team on two personal moves, involving both elevators and walk ups, and most recently to move an office into storage. Each time they have arrived promptly, and worked quickly but with great care to get things done. And they've always brought a generous sized truck more than adequate for the job. This most recent move I finally let them do a bunch of the packing (they always said it would be faster than trying to finish packing after they arrive as I've done in the past - and since the costs are based on time, that means it's cheaper). They did an incredible job of packing up delicate equipment, from computers and monitors to giant whiteboards. Dave is an artist with cardboard boxes and packing tape - see the photos of the custom monitor box. He can basically build a custom box from regular boxes with his knife, packing tape, and wizardry in a minute or two to protect any object. These guys were fantastic. We moved from two separate apartments to one in no time with Dave and his team. They were on time, polite and FAST (while being careful). They did it all in just under five hours with no problem. I had a few fragile and expensive items but Dave personally wrapped them in tape, cardboard and black shirnkwrap stuff. Made the mistake of waiting until the week of my move to look for a mover, so while getting overpriced quotes from about 15 different companies, someone recommended Low Rate Moving and I'm so happy they did. Dave said that I needed to be flexible in the time that he would be able to move me, but he promised that it would be done the day I needed to move. Which was fair because I was 3 days away from my move, and every other company only had availability a few days after the date I needed. Not only that but he was communicative the entire time if I had questions and the price of the entire move was several hundred dollars less than any other company's quote. This was the worst move I've ever had I was having second thoughts in the beginning and I should have trusted my gut feeling that there would be a problem. The crew showed up and what I thought my who was going to be on wait a day assured me it was not wait it was cubic feet. I had I had scheduled a full pack and move when they arrived I assured them I had already packed most of my items they went to work after a short period of time of debate over the cost. I was just assured by the sales department that don't worry your shipment will get to Tucson and then you can take care of whatever needs to be taken care of. The crew of three person showed up one person couldn't even speak English the other one hardly the third person Anthony was a great worker and did most of the job but the biggest problem was over the cost The Man In Charge told me it would cost me an additional $1,000 to move my items only because my cubic feet Rose drastically and that was only because of the boxes they provided not the ones that I provided. The Packers didn't even pack the box is full all they wanted to do was make the cubic feet bigger and bigger so it would cost me more and more money by the time all was said and done I had to pay over $1,000 more than my estimate and that was because of the cubic feet increase and improper packing. I had worked in the moving business years ago with Bekins Van Lines and I have never seen an outfit like this in my life I would suggest not to use this company because if you do you don't know what Shenanigans the pull on you to increase the price like they did me and others. read more

When I realized I had accumulated more "necessary" stuff than I had realized; I knew I needed more help than friends can provide, even if I did offer them beer at the end of the day. Ours included not being fully packed when they arrived and our elevator at our old place BREAKING as the move got going. Dave surveyed the furniture, wrapped it all up and the best part was that they were prepared with dissemble my ikea bed frame (that I procrastinated and ended up not doing myself).
