Awesome food. I just wish there was a permanent fish place like them where I live. I hope they come back and bring their fresh caught fish with them. read more

Fantastic! Moist and flaky fish, great fries. I wish they gave out napkins and salt and pepper but easily the best fish and chips I've had in years read more

This place always has a huge line, so naturally, I thought it has to be good. Frozen fries, extreme small portions for $13 each. Fish is skimpy and bland and just tasteless. I'm not sure why people like this place. Then they have the audacity to ask if you want to tip ( for what?) before you have even experienced their "service!" Don't waste your money. GB Fish 'n' chips and Yorkshire on Pecos are far superior! The people with 5 stars must not have experienced real fish 'n' chips! read more

Probably the worst fish and chips I've ever ordered. Inconsistent quality, massively overpriced, and not at all worth the wait. Do yourself a favor, and order fish and chips from a bar...it will be better than this. read more

Expensive for not much food, horrible value. $26 for two fish and chip meals. Each meal came with 3 pretty dinky ass pieces of fish and a small handful of fries. The fries and the fry sauce (not sure if that's what it was) were the best part of the meals. The fish itself was bland, but the batter was crisp and nice. The tartar sauce was also bland and tasted like bottled premade junk. No prices listed, no menu, not customer friendly and they ask for tips TWICE!!, one for the service of making your meal and the other to move some kid out of his mom's basement. Will never eat there again, will never recommend to anyone. Total ripoff. read more

We were really looking forward to fish and chips recently and had ordered from their trucks before and anticipated another good meal. We got home and the fish was way overdone to the point that the coating was a deep mahogany color and the smaller pieces bordered on the consistency of cardboard. It pays to check out the orders at the window and reject overdone fish. The cost is enough to expect edible food. I was contacted as a result of my posting and they offered to reimburse the charges and insure consistency in experience. This is a sign of a company that values customer service. read more

The fish & chips was great! When I asked for a napkin, he said sorry they ran out yesterday. They where in a parking lot that had two grocery stores within a few blocks away. Also no trash can had to take our trash with us! Also you will not get vinegar with your fish. read more

If you like fish n chips, then you should look to see if this food truck is heading somewhere near you. They serve only fish n chips, fish, and just chips. Nothing else. But, the fish n chips are very good. They are hand-dipped wild Alaskan Cod. The batter is just right not heavy and the fish is fresh and yummy. The fries are beer battered and tasty and they give you two sauces, tarter and sriracha mayo. They offer nothing else, and that's why it's so good. The price is $12 an order and is quite filling. Only thing is you need to bring your own beverage or buy it at a nearby place. They don't sell beverages, not even water. They said they usually park in front of places that you can buy beverages. They are usually parked from lunch to dinner. We bought our fish n chips and found a nearby park to sit and enjoy our food. read more

We usually love their fish n chips today was not so good, fish was not as usual more like skinny fish sticks in the form of a tube and extremely dried out with not much fish inside so disappointed. read more

So I gave a not so good review in April because the meal we got was not great that day. Since then their team reached out via email and were just awesome. They not only refunded the meals but sent a voucher for our next meal on them. I want to say Thank-you for reaching out. On the Hook Fish and Chips is a class act. read more

I went to the On The Hook food truck in Alamosa last night. WOW!! Wonderful food, really fast service, and really nice people!!!! I will certainly go there again. read more

When in Nixa, I would usually see cars and people there, so today I got to try their fish and chips. The people working there were very nice. I paid 14 dollars for the fish and chip basket. I was so dissappointed. The fish was good and so were the fries, but the fish looked like little sticks! the menu said 3 pieces of fish, but do not compare the portion size to Long John Silvers. They were more like small chicken tenders. A 14 dollar snack pack? these guys do not have the overhead of a restaurant and this was fish and fries, no drink. The are too many value places to eat, so this was my first and last time to eat there. read more

OMG ‼ DON'T go to that fish & chips truck‼ it's was AWFUL ‼ 3 dried up pieces of fish, a few fries, no malt vinegar despite asking for it, $13 dollars‼ guess G B isn't so bad price wise after all. At least you get 6 good pieces of fish, fries, coleslaw & a drink. They were 20 minutes late then had to stand around while they got gas for generator. read more

The last time I purchased from the I got thick pieces of fish about the size of the palm of your hand. Driving by a truck In Loveland, Co today I stopped and ordered. DISAPPOINTED! What I got were 3 thin strips of fish each about 7-8 inches long and about an inch and 1/2 wide. Same price but portion size was about half of what I had received before and not all that tasty. Wasn't worth it---won't go back read more

Yesterday was the third time I purchased fish and chips from On the Hook's food truck parked for the day at Smith's in Park City, Utah. While the chips were crispy and good, the batter on the fish was soggy each of the three times I purchased. For this reason, I doubt that I will purchase again. read more

YUM! Thanks for having Erie on your stopping points. I worked from home today because I saw you were coming. Wonderful full meal at a reasonable price. It think it's great you partner with the Bar behind you so we can enjoy a nice outside (or inside) eating place. See you soon! read more

On the hook fish and chips are off the hook best fish and chips we have had in years we are definitely fans

Best fish & chips ever! The line is always long, but it's worth the wait.

I've ordered from their trucks a half dozen times now and have been consistently happy with the fish and chips every time. On The Hook is right up there with the chippies I've eaten at in Britain and Ireland. The fish is moist and flaky and flavorful. The fries are great, and I really like their unique fry sauce. Their tartar sauce is good too, although I'm more a malt vinegar fan. MMMMmmm. Now that I'm thinking about this fish, I'm going to have to look up when a truck will be near me again. I hope its soon. read more

These fish and chips are the real deal. Fresh cod with a delicious batter. Really don't need any sauce but the target and the siracha mayo were delicious with the fish and the chips! Served hot and crunchy. Can't wait until the truck is back again! read more

On The Hook - Fish and chips with sauces - Food Trucks Near Me

Doesn't even rate one star. 15 mins line to place order, OK, 20 mins later anybody after Marge we have to give you a refund because we ran out of propane, not fish and chips but fuel to cook it. 100 yards from a gas station the sells 15 lb tanks of which they had several around the truck the truck, just go get some refills. Didn't think of that? Will never go back. Wasted 1 1/2 hours of my life that I will never get back, Don't care what anyone else says about it, it will always leave a bad taste in my mouth. You need people that know how to run a food truck and solve simple problems, not just give up when something goes wrong. And the way the guy was laughing as he was giving refunds insults me. read more

We went once and plan to go again. Food was excellent. The Staff is very kind and helpful. Food truck always appear clean. Give it a try you won't be sorry. read more

Fast and delicious! Beats the competition hand down!

I love the cod fish and chips. If you want good tasting fish track them down. That is why it's not 5 star. Hard to know where they will be. But as I said the product is great. Get a location you can Door Dash or Grubhub from. Thanks for considering it. **** read more

The food truck was in Ogden, UT the weekend of June 29. It was yummy. The fish was not over-battered. The chips were beer battered and delicious, but not traditional chips. They had a cooler for drinks, but there was nothing in it but Diet Pepsi, Sprite, and water. I would have liked some condiment options like malt vinegar and tartar sauce. Also, they only had one size of order which was very generous (3 pieces of fish). I would have liked a smaller serving size option for a smaller portion/ appetite. And more beverage options. But I will definitely go back when they are in town next weekend. I'll just bring my own malt vinegar and beverage with me. read more

I had heard such good things about On The Hook that I was checking their web site monitoring the location of their trucks for an opportunity to scratch my itch for seafood. But I must have been spoiled living in Seattle for 37 years because this fish & chips was so disappointing. The meat is dry as sawdust and the breading holds so much oil that I started to feel nauseous after the first piece. On my last one, I just picked all the breading off so I didn't have to throw it away. Landlocked fish and chips is just trash. Don't even bother. read more

Best Fish and Chips I've had. Breading is just right and the fries are cooked to perfection. You have to ask for Malt Vinegar but they give you tartar sauce and siracha mayo combo. Drinks are only a buck if I remember right. They are a little pricey - around $12 for 2 pieces of fish and fries. I wish they were here more often. read more

Totally worth the wait!!!! Please come back to Kalispell soon and stay a little longer.

After seeing the truck around town and many Facebook updates, I was finally able to try the fish & chips. Service.... Not bad. Young kid at the window. Not very helpful, but got the job done. Food... No drinks and only cod available. Chips were frozen shoe string fries from a bag. Fish was cooked well and fresh. but not super flavorful. No malt vinegar either. Portion size was ok, but a little pricey. Glad I tried it, but probably won't be back. read more

After always enjoying the fish and chips for a year when they come to Castle Rock, CO, the last 2 visits were very disappointing. I have always talked them up to everyone and told people when they were coming to town. The last 2 times have failed. First one the coating did not taste the same and was gooey and some of the fries were cold inside. The next visit this last Sat. was worse. The coating was soggy on 2 pieces and the 3rd larger piece was so burned you had to pick it up and break it in half. There was nothing salvageable. The only thing I can think of is the change in the people working on the food truck. For the year I loved the food it was the same fellows working the truck. The problem seems to have come with new people in the truck the last 2 times. I'm all done. Won't waste my money. read more

I tried On the Hook Fish and Chips when they were at Odell in Fort Collins. It's worth the wait in line. You can tell the guys working in the truck are working really hard. It's a tad pricey but so worth every bit of it - especially after watching them work so hard. And the fish and chips are DELICIOUS! Keep it up guys, and come back to Odell! read more

I was very skeptical about fish from a food truck, the idea of a moving vehicle serving fish seems like it would be horrible and it begs the question of how could could it really be, especially at a $12 price tag. I opened the container and saw a fish and chips meal with condiments. I was doubtful that this meal would satisfy my hunger. The only reason I ordered it was because my loving wife asked if we could... let me tell you friends, I absolutely loved the fish and fries they served. Their tartar was very delicious for being prepackaged and the Srirachamayo was spectacular. I can finally agree with the hype my wife made about a food trucks fish and chips. If you can catch them in your town, please at least try them so you can form your own opinions. Thank you for the delicious food and I will see you guys again. From Eric in Pueblo West read more

This is really good fish and chips. I liked their chipotle sauce better than the tartar but they are both good. Food is cooked when ordered so it is piping hot. Fish is very tasty with not too heavy a coating on it. The line gets long at times and they cook about 8 dinners at a time so be patient. I will go again. read more

Good fish and chips! My one real complaint was high pressure to add a 20% tip. The lady in front of me did and was told how completely awesome she was and got extra sauces. I begrudgingly gave a 10% tip and got nothing except MINUS 2 pieces of fish which I luckily caught and went back for. When you are spending $20 on a plate lunch from a food truck it's wrong to feel like you are "supposed" to add $4 more for your name to be hollered out a window. I expect to pay 15-20% to a waiter in a sit down restaurant who spends an hour with me (while making way less than minimum wage). These guys were doing great business, with someone at their window about every 2 minutes. I wonder how much that take in in high pressure tips in a lunch hour? Like I said, good food but left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

Great fish, track em find em hunt em down. Wait in a line that is 2 days long and enjoy. Its that good

This place is overpriced and a total disappointment. Batter greasy an not fully cooked.

Love the fish and chips and highly recommend it even if your not a fish lover!!! Make sure you have a little time when the truck is In Town as the lines can get pretty long! read more

This food truck was parked outside of Thunderhead Brewery downtown Omaha, Ne. The cod is wild caught as they describe and you can taste the difference. The fish is lovingly marinated with a tasty beer batter and then dipped in a bubble bath of hot grease in which it steps out of the tub all gold and crispy. By that point, I am licking my lips ready to wrap my hands around each beautiful piece. What is fish without chips? You get a hearty portion of crispy spuds on the side and they throw it all in a box with a side of tartar, mayo, and a sriracha aoli. Grab the box. Open it up. Wow. That smell has me more excited than a milf at a One Direction concert. I shamefully ate my meal with such rapid succession, I almost forgot to taste. I guess I better go order a second meal. The fish and chips were very good, needless to say. The staff are friendly, and the overall price is very fair. Pair it with a Thunderhead Beer and that's probably the best decision you made. read more

On The Hook - Their super sexy fish and chips - Food Trucks Near Me

Bought the fish and chips meal because that's what this food truck is all about. But it was big enough to share. The halibut is very fresh and we loved the fresh fried taste of both the fish and the very crispy chips. I highly recommend this food truck if you are looking for a good fish and chips place. read more

Chips weren't double fried, so they were okay but could have been better. Batter wasn't crispy enough and didn't adhere to the fish very well. Need to dry the fish a little prior to flour, flour, shake off the flour, coat in batter, and fry it long enough and hot enough to get crispy. And use yeast in the batter to let it ferment a little (didn't taste the yeasty flavor of a classic UK fish and chip). Seasoning was a little less than it should have been on the Fish, but perfect on the fries. They were having a lot of trouble with handling a line of just 4 people. With a little tweaking of the recipe and the service model, it could be great, but right now it's just kinda okay. read more
