Not many good restaurant choices in Dickinson so we were happy to see this higher rated Mexican place. Given Covid we ordered take-out given no outdoor seating and no apparent safety precautions by the staff. The place appeared to be popular given the long line. The menu is a wall full of pictures - tons of choices. We ordered the chicken and beef enchiladas which were decent. Pretty good Mexican restaurant overall. Was a bit of a pleasant surprise in Dickinson when I was there over the past summer. Ended up ordering enchiladas verdes which were not as spicy as I typically like them but overall the flavor was pretty good. Maybe I'll ask for it a little amped up next time. Stylistically reminds me a little bit of the Mexican food I had when I lived in South Carolina where the owners were from Jalisco. This is a little different compared to what I usually experienced living in Philadelphia or in Atlanta stylistically wise. Would like to try some of the tacos and some other food that they serve there. Service is pretty friendly and it has a little grocery store in the restaurant. Didn't really get to try much else of their menu but tortilla chips did taste pretty fresh and overall I thought this was a pretty good option. It's so authentic I had to use the funky "e". And it's probably the only place to serve menudo. Love going to this place while in Dickinson. The little Mexican market and restaurant has plenty of seating if you'd like to eat in. The have margaritas and a selection of bottled beers. Service is friendly, fast and overall pleasant. They have a fairly large menu (displayed overhead above the counter), with dishes generally ranging between $8 and $16 each. They also sell separate tacos and some desserts. Although I have only ever gotten the wet green burrito, and cannot comment on the other food, the burrito is delicious. I would take this as an indicator that the rest would be great. If you are looking for some authentic Mexican foods or other items to just buy, their little market is definitely worth checking out. They have complimentary WiFi, and have a TV going. Their only downside is that they close at 7 or 8pm each night, so make it out quickly. read more

On our trips from Wisconsin to Montana, we stop in Dickinson to spend the night. After 8 hours of driving, we wanted better food than a fast food restaurant. Once again we turned to Yelp for help in finding a restaurant with good food. Our GPS system took us on a wild goose chase to Paricutin as it was across the road from where we were spending the night. We thought it was a restaurant, but it was more of a walk in place your place order restaurant. It was all good as we were in the middle of Covid so it was better to carry out. We ordered and it didn't take long for our food to be prepared. We took the food back to our hotel. The reviews were correct! The food was awesome! The guacamole was excellent with big chunks if avocado. The tacos were delicious. I highly recommend Paricutin! The only down side is they use styrofoam for carry outs, and I would rather they use cardboard containers or something more eco friendly. read more

This address actually took us to El Sombrero. Maybe it was bought out? The place was packed out and to go orders were going strong on a Thursday night. It's definitely a local fave. They were short staffed and we had to wait at least 30 mins for our food with our 4 kids. I ordered a steak taco on corn and got a beef taco on a hard corn shell. Overall the food was okay. When I read, "this is where the local Mexicans eat" on another review, I knew I had to go try it. I was not disappointed. This is a "walk up and order from a picture menu" type place. They have soft drinks and beer in large drink coolers by the counter. Your meal is served on a styrofoam plate with plastic cutlery. Mine was on a tray with salsa verde (delightfully pretty spicy) and traditional red salsa, both in squeeze bottles. I ordered the taco plate with steak tacos. They were doubled tortillas (meaning two per Taco). Served with rice and beans and a grilled chili pepper. I would recommend this small place to anyone who is looking for more flavor and authenticity over ambiance. I will definitely be back next time through Dickinson. read more

Terrific service. Really good food, although I did not care for the veggie filling in my chimi--it resembled veggie stew. My husband's fajitas were similar--too mushy due to too many tomatoes or too much tomato sauce. The pintos were excellent, and the beer was icy cold. Chips crunchy and yummy. But NO HOT SAUCE??? They do not have Tabasco or Cholula or anything. Nada. That is bizarre. I heard another table ask for it as well. If you are looking for an authentic Mexican location, this is your place. I got the Baja burrito and it was excellent. I am normally not a big burrito fan but this one had amazing authentic flavor. By far some of the best Mexican food available in town. The tacos are always delicious and the big boy burrito is large and packed full of great ingredients. The sauces that are served on the side are spicy but wonderful. The restaurant is clean and quiet and the menu features pictures of the dishes for easy ordering. There is also a market towards the front of the restaurant with pastries, candies, sauces, and various other items. I've never been dissatisfied with a meal here. This place has a lot of menu items and a small selection of groceries like marinated meats, fresh cheeses, and shelf stable mexican items. The prices were kind of high considering you don't get table service and they serve everything on Styrofoam plates and plastic utensils. We ordered the carne asada fries, chicken tacos, a carnitas burrito, and the beef flautas. The fries were really good. They remained crispy and had lots of great toppings on them. The carne asada was flavorful and juicy. The tacos were just average and were served a la carte with no rice or beans. The burrito was standard. The flautas had a unique taste to them almost like star anise spices but they were crispy and you got 5 in an order plus rice and beans. First off I really enjoy authentic Mexican food and would much rather find a hole in the wall place than a sit down type restaurant. As I entered the store (as it's both a restaurant and store) you're greeted with a thick cloud of smoke just sitting in there. The menu which is fast food style meaning it's hanging up on wall in back of register was a little clustered! I ordered two tacos and a plate of something I couldn't remember. The beans were absolutely disgusting as it tasted like it was overly formented to the point of not being edible. Both tacos were good and actually saved me from giving it a one star. As for the price of the menu the tacos were priced right but the plates were definitely overpriced for the portion size. A 20 oz Pepsi they charged me $2.50! Are you serious! And to top it all off when I returned to hotel I realized they charged me for a $3 candy I didn't have anywhere near the register! If I'm in this town again I will definitely not go back! read more
