I went to Sanford's a few years ago, and haven't been back when I witnessed something not so appetizing. I am wondering if their cleanliness has improved. I have heard rumors that it has improved, so I may go check it out... The decor was cool, a lot of old relics on the walls, signs, photos, kind of like a 50's look. I wonder if it is the same or if they have switched it up, I liked what I had seen before, however, I just didn't like my food moving. So this next time around I am hopeful that it will be a more pleasant visit. Of course my last visit was actually about 5 years ago, and now it's been 5 years since, and I'm eager to go see improvements. Ate here based on hotel clerk's recommendation. They were busy but had lots of open tables. We were told 20 minutes to be seated which extended well beyond that. Upon questioning - they were short-staffed. That was fine. Upon finally getting seated we waited over 20 - 30 minutes just to order and then close to fifty minutes for our food. No apologies, nothing. I ordered the salad with grilled chicken. It did not have tomatoes, the pickled radish, mixed greens or onion rings! Also, the raspberry vinaigrette was sour and very watered down - I could not eat the dressing. The waitress never checked back and I ate the food, but I will never eat there again. read more

Reviews show, and staff confirmed they've got new management and it's evident. Nice large, very clean space. LOTS of interesting decor. We sat on the bar side, Had music and multiple tv's going but not over bearing. Food was huge serving sizes, we had trouble finishing. Average wait time and came out hot. Big Johnson and mushroom burger where great. Cajun fries, lots of them and plenty of seasoning. Ice cold drinks and fair prices, large menu variety so something for everyone. One ding for new waitress that didn't know some of the basics, so room for training/improvement but overall a great joint. read more

I've never in my life been to a restaurant that has been out of so many things on the menu. First we were sat as a group of 5 and only got 3 menus. The first 3 appetizers we ordered, they were out of. Finally got nachos ordered. Nachos arrived without salsa, asked for some.....they were out of salsa. Why even serve nachos if you're out of salsa!!! Says the kids get gummy worms on the menu, they were out. Food comes, kids spaghetti looked like it was microwaved from a can. Burger looked like frozen white castle burgers. My burger was fine, wife's pork sandwhich was gross. Why do they have an abnormally large menu but yet don't even offer half of it. Shrink your menu to what people order and what you can provide. Weeds growing all over outside, carpet ripped up inside, dirty. Awful service, horrible food, food poisoning and dirty tables. I get that SIMPLY EVERYONE is recovering from Covid and the lack of people but.... The staff did the best they could but we waited 2 hours for salads and then the next day my husband was SICK. No excuse for that at all. Back in town on business, tried this place again, it's right across the street from the hotel. I'll drive somewhere next time..lol. The menu is too big. I mean literally and figuratively, the thing is huge. Too many options, it's painful to look through. There's no way a restaurant this size can be good at all this stuff and have it all fresh. Not happening. I tried the ribs, bad choice. Over cooked and bland, tasted like they were reheated from frozen. The membrane on the back wasn't removed before cooking them, so had to chew around that. That's rib prep 101, so they don't know what they are doing. This place used to be fantastic. Went way downhill but seems to be coming back. DO NOT order the burnt ends. They are basically chunks of eye-of-round, over cooked and burnt to a crisp, then tossed in sauce. Absolutely not burnt ends. I love the onion rings but I see where some wouldn't. They are more of a thin panko type of batter and most people around here seem to prefer the heavy beer batter type. They were a little greasy but ok. Had the Atom Bomb. It was good but nothing special. For the cost, there are similar much better places in town that are cheaper (a certain sports bar for example). I will try again but not super enthused. read more

My wife, father, and myself were on a road trip from Chicago IL to Yellowstone and on the way we stopped in at this location. My father and myself are self proclaimed Martini connoisseurs and we had a LOT of bad martinis on this trip. When we stepped in to this location we were greeted and addressed immediately. We opted to sit at the bar and were assisted by the same individual who brought us over. When we asked her if she knew how to make a martini she was honest and said, and I quote, "No, but if you know how I can learn." After we taught her, she made THE BEST martinis we had on the entire trip. Not only that, she was a great conversationalist and super attentive to our overly needy needs. If I owned a business anywhere in the area I would have tried to hire her, I don't know what she makes there but I guarantee she deserves a raise. I feel like by the time we were leaving we were treated like very welcome regulars. If I'm ever in this area again I will definitely stop in and hopefully Amy Moss. is there to make another great experience! P.S. This is not a southern joint. This is Applebee's pretending to not be Applebee's. The menu is gigantic and offers endless iterations of essentially the same three things. I ordered the chicken sandwich that was supposed to be southern style, it wasn't. It was supposed to have some sort of dip sauce, it didn't. It was supposed to come with endless fries, it didn't. And look at how pathetic this dish looks. There's enough fries here for a 3 year old. The food tasted just fine, but wasn't even close to what was on the menu. Service felt like they were rushing me constantly even though I was one of three parties in the restaurant and the food, again only 3 parties in the entire restaurant, came out about 40 minutes after I ordered it. Worse service ever. Told me be there at a certain time then ended up waiting extra 30 minutes. Then my order was wrong and they forgot the dessert. Went back in and they through some cut up Brownies in a container with rest of the dessert not there. Maybe they should of stayed closed and not reopened. This place had great fries and ranch. Burger meat wasn't the highest quality in the world but they had this triple bypass burger that was two grilled cheese sandwiches as the bun with bacon. I got it a few times. read more

This may be the worst experience I ever had eating out at a restaurant. I arrived at 5:45pm. There was no hostess, so no one even noticed I was there until 6:00pm. I was told that because they were short staffed, I would have to eat in the bar. I was not happy about this. It was the last day of my vacation, and I was looking forward to a quiet relaxed meal. I sat at the bar, it was noisy, and I got worse as the more alcohol the customers drank, but I was trying to make the best of the situation. It took forever for the bar tender to take my drink order, even longer to take my dinner order, and even longer to get her to refill my drink. She finally took my order, but I did not get my meal until 7:15pm. Judging by how cold the fries were the food had been sitting out for about 20-30 minutes before anyone bothered to bring it out to me. I was going to complain, but as soon as the plate had the bar my server was gone, and besides I was not going to wait another hour for fresh fries. The server was M.I.A. so I was chumping on the ice from Coke throughout the meal because there was no one to refill my drink. At 7:45pm she finally asked me if I was ready for the check. I said I wanted a slice of Pecan Pie. After all, the was the main reason I was there. It was the last day of my vacation and the clerk at the hotel told me how great the deserts at Sanford's were, so I had saved the best for last (or so I thought). She went to kitchen to put in my order and eventually came back to tell me that they were out of Brownies, Pecan Pie, Cheesecake, and all the deep-fried items. Well, if you look at the menu that is everything on the dessert menu and now it is so late any other restaurant in town where I could have gotten a nice dessert is now closing (even the Dairy Queen closes at 8:00pm). I may never be in the area ever again, but if I am, I will never eat at this establishment again. read more

We came here on a Saturday night while on a road trip with our.son to MN. I'm glad we decided to come here instead of Applebee's. We were seated immediately and was handed a gigantic menu. Atmosphere - fun eclectic decor. Love the music they played. Just good old 80s classic. Service - Cole was our server and he was fabulous. Super friendly and very attentive. Food - OMG! You need to come here hungry. Food was.great! Cajon Chicken Salad - all fresh ingredients Kooters Club Sandwich - chicken was fried perfectly. It was juicy and was as big as the buns. The onion rings was just delicious. It was not at all greasy and perfectly seasoned. Mississippi Mud was heaven. Mash potatoes in the bottom, layered with sirloin tips, andouille sausages, bacon, mushrooms topped with onion rings and smothered in gravy. You'll be rolling out the restaurant after this meal. I would disagree with other Yelpers who gave this place a three for not being able to read the menu or their busy decor. I would definitely come here again and recommend to other Yelpers to give it a try. read more

It's fine. The food is good, not great. Prices are a little high for what you get. All the reviews we read talked about the slow service so we were prepared for it. It was slow but the lady was trying. They need to spend less money on the random stuff everywhere and more to make the other parts good. This is such a fun place! Great dining experience! Went here on 6/10/2022 while working in the area. Service was exceptional. The bartender, Jake I think, made great drinks. Had a Margarita and a Crown Peach, which was very tasty. Ordered something they had on special, being a brisket mac-n-cheese with a side of jalapeno hot bites. Food was very good. But the atmosphere is what sets this place apart from anything in Dickinson. I spent about 30-minutes after I ate just to look at all the décor. Cute and clean decor. Huge menu (literally, it was on very big paper) with lots of interesting options. Surprised how empty it was on a Saturday night, but food was good and service was okay. Portions were huge! Food was tasty. Fried hoagies were unusual but with the cinnamon butter tasted like a donut! My husband's steak was great (basic, no frills or spices).
