Kid K is a budding artist, and needed a little treat today. This popped up on Yelp kinda near our route. Very nice little shop with paper, cards, pens, etc. Some reasonably priced, some much more expensive but more professional. A good selection, for a kid or an adult. The cards were very cool. I love On Paper! It's the only independent stationery store I have found in Columbus, and it serves a wide range of paper-related hobbies. They have a wall of pens and markers that you can sample and an extensive notebook selection with sample notebooks so you can test how the paper performs with pens/markers/fountain pens. They have fountain pens and inks, sealing wax and stamps, washi tape, watercolor pans and papers, greeting cards, and more. They regularly rotate out their featured items at the front of the store, so there's always something new to try. My most recent fun purchase was a watercolor coloring book. I have to stop myself from spending all my money here! read more

By a long shot, this is my favorite store in Columbus. I even make special 1.5 hour road trips down here just to check the store out. I don't know why I don't just buy one of everything in one visit. If you're a fan of retro, analog, or just doing things the somewhat old-fashioned way, this could be your spot too. With a plentiful selection of pens, including fountain pens, and ink, the act of writing itself becomes enjoyable. More of a typist? They now have some stylish typewriters for any aspiring journalist, novelist, or Wes Anderson film recreationist. All this fails still to mention the vast selection of cards, postcards, stationery, and myriad assortment of desk knick-knacks. They sell stamps - you can come buy, write, and mail a road trip greeting all in one stop. Custom return address stamps and stickers are available, in addition to custom letters and occasion cards. Prices are what I'm willing to pay, but may be high to the non-hobbyist. Staff has always been friendly and has even come to remember me well after many visits. read more

This cute little store on the Short North strip is the ultimate trap for artists like me and my friends! We came to look for one thing and guess what bought twenty other things... smh. Paper, stamps, wax, inks... and a TON of STATIONARY things! You can find unique cards, wrapping papers and many calligraphy pens. I got help from one of the workers about a fountain pen and when he did not know the schematics, he took my number for the owner to call back! How cool is that? I was expecting more. I was in search for some blank note cards for a gift for someone who loves the art of handwritten notes. I had seen the place online so I hoped they may have what I needed. Unfortunately there wasn't much to this store. If you were maybe looking for some custom made invitations or the like, you might like it. However, in terms of the options for cards, blank note cards or journals they didn't really have much. I ended up buying some simple monogramed blank cards because I was running out of time in my search. It took forever to get checked out. If didn't need the cards, I would have walked out. Super cute stationary store on High Street with lots of pens, notebooks, and greeting cards to select from. They had many different kinds of pens varying in color and thickness as well as faintness. Highlighters were also in cute shades and not overly saturated. The store reminds me a lot of muji in terms of stationary but with greater selection and more high end, artistic touches. They have leuchterm notebooks (my fave) in different sizes and colors. They also carry WASHI tape. read more

I'm fully devastated that they don't have a place like this in Cincinnati, at least not that I've found yet. This place was everything I'd been dreaming of. They have a wide variety of interesting stationery supplies for any price range. They stock the high-quality, no-bleed paper I like to buy, and their fountain pen collection even had some I had not seen before (a difficult feat). Lots of useful items alongside some gimmicky unique gift options. It has been over a month since I was in at the time of writing this, but I'm still thinking about them and longing to go back. Wonderful store. They've always had interesting wrapping paper and stationary, but they've made a move in the past few years into high quality Japanese stationary items -- pads from Mnemosyne pads and Tamoe River Paper. It's wonderful to be able to shop for these things in Columbus. And, having been a customer for about 20 years, the current folks staffing the store are the friendliest and most helpful I've encountered yet. A great store, now even better. read more

On Paper is a really cool, paper shop in the Short North area of Columbus. I'm a huge fan of cards and mail and fell in love with this store the second I walked in the door. If you're looking for unique cards, maps, journals or gifts, this is the shop for you. During my recent visit I purchased this taco platter (see picture) and am excited to host a fiesta so that I can use it! There were dozens of things I wanted to buy and not enough time in the day to fully explore this small shop. I needed some new stationary the other day so it was into On Paper again. I never leave disappointed, but this time I was close. I had simple criteria - ivory or slightly off-white paper, slightly smaller than 8" x 11" with matching envelopes. First I was shown the pre-boxed Crane sets that you can find pretty much anywhere. Nice, but not over the top. Then we looked at a little nicer stuff that you have buy by the piece but that still didn't grab me, and then she brought out the pimp shit! It had unfinished edges and was ridiculously thick, both the paper itself and the fibers it is made from, but not so thick that the paper looses its translucent qualities rendering the watermark (in Italian) useless. "This is my new stationary!" I exclaim. "This is not in stock in the size you want," I learn a few moments later. So it looks like the next 15 notes I write to friends or loved ones is going to be on cream colored Crane paper trimmed in blue. Mark my words, though, I WILL have that paper... read more

I adore this shop! I had a favorite card shop in Pittsburgh (shoutout Wildcard!) and I missed it so, so much when I moved away. Luckily I discovered this cute little store right around the corner from my house in Columbus! Handwriting letters to friends and family is definitely a dying art, but it's a lot more fun when you have such unique cards to send! I've gotten multiple cards from On Paper for special occasions that my friends have loved. In addition, there are some absolutely lovely gifts in this store. They have a wide selection of maps and posters, along with calendars, candles, notebooks, and jewelry. Recently they've also started selling some rope plant hangers that I've had my eye on. There's a back room at On Paper and it seems like they might do some sort of calligraphy classes there, which I absolutely need to look into! This is just such a fun store. Yes, the cards can be a little expensive, but you're paying for quality and the unique experience someone is going to have when they receive a card that's not from a convenience store. As a writer, I often have a hard time connecting with a screen. For the longest time, I could only write with pencil on paper; it just felt more intimate to me. I would write entire term papers on lined notebook paper then type them afterward to create a first draft. Then, I would have to print that draft and handwrite the edits before going back to the screen to make corrections. I remember one paper I wrote like this ended up being over thirty typed pages long, which was nearly a whole notebook full of college ruled sheets. Needless to say, I love On Paper. That is until I started dating my boyfriend, who is the KING of greeting cards. He finds cards so touching that they never fail to make me cry. I was inspired to step up my game. You can get anything you need in any color. And if you're in to scrapbooking or decorative papers, you're going to need to stop by. Earlier this year, On Paper began selling a line of post consumer recycled paper. The paper comes from the Green Paper Company. I am in love with the textures. I love paper. Being down in the Short North area yesterday, I had to stop by and get my fix! For people who like to write, this is a great place find beautiful and creative stationary pieces. I still write handwritten thank you notes (might be a residual effect of not being able to get my Christmas or Birthday presents until thank yous were in the mail) and their pre-printed thank you notes are an inexpensive way to say the standard thank you and they have the piecemeal components to make some pretty spectacular and memorable ones. In an age where letter writing is a lost art, it nice to come in here and be surrounded by people who still appreciate writing! read more

Okay, so, this place is pretty cool if you're a paper nerd. And while I'm a writer, I'm not at all a paper nerd- I do my writing either on the computer or on the cheapest wide-ruled paper money can buy. Still, I can appreciate a store that does nothing but sell great stationery- even if it is much more up my girlfriend's alley and not mine. This is about what I'd expect from a paper store: calligraphy supplies, tons of types of paper and decorative envelopes, etc. etc. etc. If I had paid more attention to my after-school calligraphy class in elementary school maybe this place would get me all a-temper, but I didn't. Still, even I like stopping in here. I might never spend money here, but I certainly think it's cool. There's no reason not to stop in On Paper if you're in the Short North, and if you're actually interested in buying paper, then by all means- pretend this review is 5 stars. This review is so long overdue, it's ca-rrrrrazy!! I cannot share enough positivity about this perfect little shop in the Short North, but allow me to try! I used to live directly above it when I first moved to Cbus. I would bop down all the time for miscellaneous birthday/greeting card needs, unique gift inspiration, or for just some friendly interaction with the staff. The charm of the shop and the quality of their products is unreal! When I got engaged last year, I instantly knew I wanted to work with On Paper. The whole Save the Date/Invite process was perfection! Michelle is simply incredible. She has such a wonderful, calm, enlightening personality, and she really knows paper and design (not to mention she's a delightful wordsmith). Michelle "got" my vision for the invites before I did, which was unbelievable! We received CONTINUOUS accolades from family and friends regarding our invites. We also worked with them on our Table Numbers and Favor tags which were ADORABLE. Also, she was helpful in recommending more cost effective options and working within a budget. Unfortunately, I tend to love expensive things (but I wouldn't have changed a thing!). Ultimately, the whole process was seamless from start to finish. On Paper has single sheet paper that will add character and Oooooo-Power to any gift you give. Wax stamps, address stamps and nifty, interesting writing tools are there, too. On Paper also has memory book helpers such as photo tabs you can paste to pages. And plenty of color writing supplies. The store is a great place to catch up with old-fashioned writing. I need some supplies, and asked for recommendations from one of my college BFFs who would undoubtedly know where to send me. She gave me a short list, but learning what i needed, said to definitely come here. it was just what i needed - big selection of any kind of paper, journal, writing instrument, and other little doodad you could possibly want. i needed no 9 envelopes, they had about a million different colors. this place is definitely worth stopping in and browsing, although i know if it were me i wouldnt be able to just browse without buying a bunch of things i managed to convince myself i needed! super-helpful staff, and overall just a great resource for any stationery, paper, or other writing-related needs. i love email and texting as much as the next person for convenience, but nothing beats a hand-written letter on beautiful stock. one thing to note - 5 dollar credit card minimum. i had to buy extras of what i was looking for to top 5 bones, but im glad i did because i needed them. read more

When I first moved to Columbus, my impression of On Paper was that it was a beautiful and charming place to get unique, high-quality cards, notebooks, and stationary. Since then I have learned that they are also THE place for the loveliest original invitation designs I have ever seen! In helping me to design my wedding save-the-dates and invitations, the folks at On Paper were understanding of my desire to be eco-friendly while still presenting an elegant and truly special product. They're a paper store, and they helped me SAVE paper. Pretty great, huh? They also printed everything on very beautiful 100% post-consumer recycled stock. What's more, I approached Michelle, the designer I worked with most during this process, with an idea for an invitation design that On Paper had never attempted before. She took a careful and considered look at the idea and decided they would be able to deliver what I wanted, and I am thrilled with the results. Both the save-the-dates and the invitations are absolutely beautiful. I will be returning to On Paper for all of our "day-of" paper needs (programs/escort cards/etc.) and of course will continue to purchase all my non-wedding paper products from them as well! read more

What a beautiful, precious store! Before moving to Columbus, I worked for a stationery publishing company that aspired to be in stores like On Paper. I know my paper stationery products, believe me. It seems that everything they have there is beautifully selected, well designed, high quality product. Prices are what you might expect for such a specialty store. It's not too expensive, but it's definitely not inexpensive. I know this will sound strange, but their selection of fountain pens is really good, too, and very reasonably priced (for fountain pens). This, for an artist, is like walking in to mecca. An expensive mecca where you can buy icons of worship. Admittedly the store itself can be a little overstimulating, especially if you really love things like this. I suggest deep breaths. In through the nose, out through the mouth. If it weren't enough to have a flawless inventory, they have some of the best staff i've come across in a long while. When I peeked my head in to the room that isn't divided off but doesn't quite look like the store (its at the back of the store) one of the employees playfully nudged me in and was showing me their books of stationary (full well knowing that I wasn't a potential customer in that way, and that I just appreciated beauty). I think she enjoyed having someone be as gleeful over great design as she was. As if that's not enough, the interior design of the place is absolutely perfect. Its a very vintage look, with rough once painted wood floors and tastefully antiqued boxes and furniture. All in all, it really pulls the store together in a way that an ultra chic design wouldn't. I found the perfect gift here when a friend moved to Paris for grad school - stationary and sealing wax with a stamp. Très belle! :P You can also expect great staff on your next visit. The sweet girl working there the day I went in (I wish I had gotten her name!) was incredibly helpful and looked like she enjoyed helping, which is so important. I purchased two lovely letterpress and hand painted prints, which I can't wait to hang up in my living room! I would have purchased even more if the prices on some of their things had been lower.
