When I used to live in Columbus, I would frequent the North Market in the Short North almost weekly. I visited for the first time in many years and found that most vendors have changed over the years. One familiar vendor is the Market Blooms at the North Market. I had a delightful experience picking up some flowers yesterday for some family friends in the area. I actually came specifically to visit this vendor and found them easily in the middle of the North Market. There was no wait but it was also mid-afternoon on a weekday. I glanced through the creative card selection (out of curiosity) and then checked out the flower options. They had some floral arrangements ready for pick up at a variety of prices. I selected the mid-range price and was delighted at the options I had. I used a combination of a gift card and credit card, which was easy to do. The flowers were well received by me and later by my family friends who I gave them to as a thank you for hosting me for a meal. While I was there, I met two of the vendors including a man who had been working there for more than thirty years. That made sense as I last stopped by for flowers at this same vendor approximately twenty years ago, and he looked familiar. Market Blooms opened for business in 1990 with the simple mission of becoming a neighborhood flower shop serving the local community. While I was at a conference this week, someone asked me if I knew the nearest place to take an Uber or Lyft to get flowers, and I mentioned I thought that there was a flower store in the North Market, only across the street from the convention center. I then realized I had a need for flowers and took my own advice. The location is in the middle of the North Market near the front doors. The hours at the North Market are Monday from 9 AM to 5 PM, Tuesday through Friday from 9 AM to 7 PM, Saturday from 8 AM to 5 PM, and Sunday from 12 to 5 PM. I would assume that later during the lunch hour during the weekends (and weekdays) it is probably quite busy. Market Blooms still has the same missions; they are still that neighborhood shop with buckets of freshly picked flowers, ready to greet people at the door. I went this past week to get a flower arrangement for my mother-in-law. They had this beautiful bouquet with orchids and roses and it was only $35. I told my husband if we would've got this at Kroger. It probably would've been around $55- $65 and I think the condition and variety of flowers in it was superior to what you find in grocery stores. I would highly recommend not to mention the atmosphere of the North market and the different variety of items they sell is top-notch. It truly is an experience when you go!!! Flowers are always fresh. Usually have a good mix of prearranged bouquets in vases ready to go but also bouquets you can grab now and vase later. Employees are always 10/10 helpful and knowledgeable about their flowers and products. The greeting cards are also theirs - fantastic selection of cards/stickers/magnets to go along with the bouquets. I got a card, a sticker and a bouquet for less than $42! I absolutely love that this vendor is located right smack dab in the middle of the North Market. I always gravitate to their beautiful flower selection. Whether I'm looking for something particular, just browsing, or feeling the need for a pick-me-up, they have a flower for everyone. I really enjoy seeing the flower selection change throughout the year based on the season. They do a great job in the "variety" department. Spring and summer are definitely my favorite. They always have giant sunflowers and colorful tulips, which are my favorite. But then again their fall selection is really pretty too. If you're in need of the classic "flowers and a card" combination, they also have you covered. Along with their gorgeous flowers, they have a rather large card selection. I've always found what I was looking for easily. P.S. Right before the stay-at-home order was set, they placed all their remaining flowers out for the community... for free, just to put smiles on faces (and likely clean out their inventory, but still!). Market Blooms is sweet. At the center of the North Market, it really ties the place together. It's in the little triad of North Market shops that I go to a couple times a week at least. Coffee at A Touch of Earth, some fruit at the Greener Grocer, then to Market Blooms. Like most shops at the North Market, I feel really good when I walk away from this flower shop. It's like I got the better end of the deal without having to actually screw someone over. There's a huge variety of fresh flowers that changes everyday. You can design your own arrangement, or ask them to make a unique arrangement for you. They sell in bulk, individual flowers, or however you want it. They also deliver. And I hear they give you a free bag of rose petals if it's your anniversary (to do it on). So basically Market Blooms provides all the services of a bigger flower shop, but they're better because they're independently owned and provide a far more personal experience. Love this flower stand inside North Market for flowers, cards and gifts. Today it felt more like spring than usual with fresh, colorful blooms abounding. Prices are reasonable and they have a great selection. Their arrangements are also enviably beautiful. I always try my hand at my own but they never measure up. Their selection of greeting cards may go unnoticed; don't let that happen! They have a large assortment for any occasion (especially ones where a sarcastic card is called for). Feeling uncharacteristically romantic, I drove to North Market on a whim in search of flowers for a date. I was pleasantly surprised by the wide selection and fair pricing of flowers at Market Blooms. They had a number of small pre-made arrangements ranging from $8-12. Perfect for home or for impressing a date (hopefully?). I picked out a small arrangement with lilies and blue salvia for $10. The lady working the shop was extremely pleasant and even apologetic for being on the phone. I've never been disappointed when I come to Market Blooms and ask for help in picking out an arrangement for either a special occasion or just because you felt like giving someone special some flowers. I usually have them make something custom with whatever is available in the shop instead of the premade arrangement because I prefer something simple with 1-2 different types of flowers, maybe some green accents in a smallish vase. And the prices may be slightly higher than what you would pay in a large flower shop chain or in a grocery store, I like supporting the local business and the north market as a whole. read more

I work out of town now but wanted flowers delivered to my friend at her office in downtown Columbus for her birthday, so I called Market Blooms. I had never ordered from them before but every time I walked by them at North Market I noticed how fabulous their flowers looked. I told them a price point and told them to include pinks and purples, and requested hydrangeas. My friend was overjoyed with her arrangement which was huge and looked like it cost a ton. Ordering from any other florist to get this arrangement would have been over 100 dollars and I paid 60. Best of all, the woman who took my order on the phone was very friendly and professional. I think I caught Market Blooms on a bad day. This was my first time stopping at their set-up in the NM. I was surprised by how affordable their bouqets were! I just wanted a hydrangea to go in a small vase I had at home. Only $5! I was happy about that. I had a hard time finding one that didn't have any brown on it. But once I got my 'perfect' one, I waited, and waited, and waited for someone to ring me out. I was tempted to set the cash on the desk and leave. The staff member was too busy tending to her phone vs. a customer. Once she finally saw she needed to do her job she was friendly and informative. She gave me great tips on how to best keep the hydrangea going good. Well, I followed all her instructions and the poor thing didn't last 5 days. I guess I got a dud stem on a dud day. Ordering flowers from a distance is a gamble that doesn't always end well. But Market Blooms delivered a wonderful arrangement (photo posted) that was all that I hoped for, at a reasonable price. Plus, Bob was an absolute pleasure to deal with! I called them from NYC when scouting around for a Columbus-area florist to create an arrangement for the church altar for my dad's memorial service. I explained that I didn't want the usual "stiff" funeral arrangement, was interested in maybe something more unique than a large autumn bouquet. One florist I spoke with was really vague as to what they would deliver for X dollars; another simply suggested I make my selection from the Teleflora web site. So it was great to brainstorm with Bob, who was kind, personable (we even shared a few laughs), and seemed genuinely interested in exploring the possibilities with me. I provided some general guidelines, but after talking with him, I felt comfortable leaving the details & execution to his professional judgment. When I walked into the church that Saturday afternoon, I was thrilled to see an altar arrangement that had "presence" but was organic, and like my dad, not flamboyant or ostentatious. Not only do they have beautiful arrangements but they also have a huge and interesting collection of flowers to choose from if you, like my mom, prefer to do the arranging yourself. I checked out Market Blooms Etc at the Farmers Market in downtown Columbus this morning. The entire market was really cool (I ate at Taste of Belgium. That will be my next review). Market Blooms Etc had a great variety of different bouquets of flowers ranging from very summery styles to fall and some in between. I do not know much about flowers, just that my lady friend likes blue and purple. The florist ( I apologize for not catching his name) was fantastic and very helpful. I have a two hour drive to Indianapolis and they even gave me a bucket with water to store the flowers in for my ride home. Definitely a great selection of flowers with exceptional service! I believe the bouquet I purchased was right around $12-13, which I believe is a totally fair price for the bouquet. read more

I called about six florists looking for irises, my boyfriend's favourite flower. Nobody else had them or offered to get them for me, but Marty special ordered them for me in 1 day and only charged me $1.20 per stem! When I picked up the flowers, they were stunning, long-stemmed and super fresh-- far exceeding my expectations. Even after I trimmed the stems a little to make my arrangement, the finished bouquet measured over 26" tall and looked like a million bucks (see photo). At work, we send out a lot of flowers. We always have someone to thank, and then there's the occasional long hospital stay. I do most of the ordering. I always call on Market Blooms. I don't even have to go in to order. I just call them, tell them the occasion, and trust their best judgment. After all, they are professionals. Each time I've gone to pick up my bouquet, I've been happy with the work. The staff makes unique flower arrangements that always leave my car smelling like springtime. One time I called in eight 'thank you' bouquets. I expected them to be eight carbon copies. But when I went in, I was surprised to find eight individual bouquets - one using Bird of Paradise, how very tropical! It was fun choosing which bouquet to send to which person based on personal attributes. (It was even more fun transporting the bouquets by myself in my car...but that's a different story. At least the staff helped me load my car before sending me on my way.) Hands down best florist in Columbus. I've been going here for many years (at least 10). Every once in a while I may be unfaithful and stray - but I quickly regret that. First of all, if you don't know the North Market, you need to get there. Market Blooms is typical of the North Market. They are a local vendor, making a living selling their product, putting customer service and satisfaction first with a great quality product. They have a huge selection of flowers. They will also whip up a bouquet on the fly. My typical interaction is: "I have X dollars, I need a flower for an anniversary, how about purple and yellow?" I come back 10 minutes later, and they blow my mind with what they pull together. Prices are amazing. Flowers are amazing. Service is amazing.
