I initially wrote a less than glowing review of this florist. I am from out of state and recently ordered a funeral spray from Green, A Floral Design Studio because I want to support a local florist. I chose this company because it had the best reviews on Yelp. I asked someone attending the funeral to send me a picture of the spray and was disappointed by what I saw---the spray looked incomplete as it was barren in the middle. I was baffled because the florist sounded very nice over the phone & the business has great reviews on Yelp. Contacted John (the florist/owner) about this to find out that the spray he designed was not what was delivered to the funeral home (something happened in transit). By then, it was too late to replace the spray. John offered to make a new arrangement to make things right so I had him send it to the family of the deceased. John sent me a photo of the new arrangement & it was lovely. Attached to the new floral arrangement was an apologetic note explaining what happened and John personally delivered it this time (this shows integrity and a commitment to make things right). My sister-in-law contacted me right away to say that she received a beautiful vase of flowers. My time is valuable so I only post reviews of a company if I'm really impressed or really disappointed with the service. I am pleased to say that I'm glad I went with Green, A Floral Design Studio despite the initial hiccup because John worked with me throughout the process (over the phone & via emails) to make sure I was happy with the final product. I recently ordered several centerpieces and some 3-4' tall arrangements for our son's rehearsal dinner & sent John pics of the venue: Gravity, which is bright, artsy & a bit eclectic, so I didn't want traditional "wedding-type" flowers. They did an amazing job with my flower arrangement but the flowers died in a few days so I don't think it's worth it to spend that much money for so short period of time. If you get flowers that are taken care of that are actually fresh, they should at least last two-three weeks. Not this time. I'm very disappointed. I know how to change the water to room temperature water and let it get to the right temp first, I know how to trim the stems at an angle before the bud, and I know the water should be covering the bottom of the flowers and not the entirety so they aren't drowned. I know they need sunlight so they were in the sunlight 4 hours out of the day like I usually do. Just not 100% convinced k should pay that much more money for such a short period of time to enjoy my flowers. read more

I stopped by Green Floral Design driving down Grandview Ave. when I was struck by the overwhelming desire to grab my friend a floral arrangement since I hadn't seen her in a while and it was such a gray day. So, I walk in at 5:00 and am the only one in the place. Mr. Green greeted me and I glanced around noticing there really weren't any bouquets already made up. He asked what he could do and I told him I wanted to spend $20 on a little bright flower bouquet for my friend. Well, he asked if I wanted it in a vase and I said yes, and he said he'd be right back. In about five minutes he had arranged a beautiful short arrangement full of color! It was PERFECT! I was so pleased. I called to send flowers to my girlfriend (random surprise flowers) and he / they created the most bountiful, beautiful, custom-designed bouquet and delivered it to her. I requested purple and yellow colors, and roses if they are available in purple or yellow. Purple roses don't exist, but he included these purple rose-like guys. The coolest part was he added some flowers which had yet to bloom. So the bouquet kept evolving. My girlfriend loved it. Full disclosure: 1) I'm using my husband's account (with permission!) to write this review because I felt it was so well-deserved and I don't have a Yelp account (gasp!) 2) I don't live in Ohio or anywhere near it, so I have not visited Green Floral in person or met its staff face-to-face. My best friend's birthday was fast approaching and I was sad that I couldn't spend it with her (see point number 2 above). I decided to surprise her with flowers at work but wanted to avoid the not-so-nice arrangements I've seen from those "toll-free" online flower delivery services. So of course I turned to Yelp to help me out. Green Floral was luckily the first place I found when I looked for florists in Columbus. I called them about six days before her birthday and explained my situation. The man I spoke to (maybe Mr. Green?) was so very nice. I told him I wanted something colorful with any flowers (although I did ask him to include a couple irises for personal significance reasons) and gave him her work address. Six days later...presto! I've gone to John three times now and have been delighted every time. For about $45 I get a full bouquet of flowers and extra little greenery in a glass water bowl. The colors always pop and I can tell he really puts thought into how he arranges it so that the shapes and colors are balanced.
