Very cool place. I have been by here often, but never stopped in, even when I lived in German Village- on Kossuth, actually. Just never seemed like my kind of place. And you know, maybe it isn't. But it is a great place. Lots of handmade art, much of it local, all of it from the US (well, North America, since there are a few Canadian things.) Jewelry, pottery, candles, stained glass, notecards, clocks, switchplates, and on and on. It's in an old house, and every room is filled with interesting items. Not overstuffed, though- it's all carefully arranged and displayed, and a visit is a very relaxing time, with soft music and a mellow tone. I came looking for gifts for my wife, daughter, and mom, for Valentine's Day and more. Loads of potential choices here. There's a room of just kid's stuff, which I will have to keep secret from Baby K so she doesn't insist on getting a(nother) princess dress. Great service. I was offered tea or coffee when I came in, and had quiet offers of help, and just friendly greetings once in awhile from various staff. It's expensive. But, it's good stuff. I'll be back.

It was fun (and cool - thank you!!) walking around this little shop selling homemade/handmade gifts. The shop dog was extremely well-behaved. The pottery was unique. Beautiful wood spoons and knives; earrings, candles, knickknacks, greeting cards... And two chairs to sit outside in the shade for 'the husbands,' lol.

I randomly ventured over to this adorable gift boutique after having lunch one afternoon and I'm so glad I did! It's located in the beautiful Columbus neighborhood of German Village and is an old home built right along the red brick roads. It was like I opened the door and stepped into a movie. The sun was out and shining brightly in through the windows of the sunroom and the various hanging glass and jars, etc. twinkled in every color of the rainbow. I instantly got excited and was so pumped I had a few minutes to look around. After walking through all the various rooms of the house turned business, I found the cutest card ever! Locally made in Ohio, I had to have it! The moment I saw it I knew who I was going to send it to. Seriously, this place had the best cards in almost every nook and cranny in the place. I also discovered the most amazing handmade jewelry, artwork, unique gifts, and so much more. It was like finding hidden treasure every time you turned the corner. I even found the funniest animal clocks! An entire wall full of various cat and dog clocks, wagging tails and all. I couldn't help but smile. I may have to go back and get one or put it on my Christmas list for this year. They're just so fun! Oh yeah! I also want to point out how friendly the staff was. I was offered a beverage while I browsed and the ladies there for the afternoon were happy to answer any questions I had. That was surely the icing on the cake! Now that I know about this hidden gem, I will certainly make the time to visit again. I look forward to discovering something new each time I do and I know I'll be back whenever I'm in need of a cool gift. Everything here is really special, there's no doubt about it.

Amazing little place to buy hand crafted stuff in the german town.Best part is you'll be immediately greeted and offered complimentary Tea/ Coffee and bites. They got some really cool stuff but felt they were little expensive but when its is handcrafted to perfection you can't really complain. STAFF IS VERY ATTENTIVE AND FRIENDLY.

Fun unique finds all handmade from Ohio and other states. Upstairs is a children's room with a table to color and play with spinning tops. Upon entering this air conditioned place, you are offered complimentary coffee, tea, or water.

My mom, daughter and I came in here the other day and we were immediately greeted by a nice woman asking if she could get us tea or coffee while we looked around; we declined but were surprised by the nice gesture since you normally don't hear that in shops. She noticed my daughter and told us to check around upstairs where there was a little kid's area. The items in this store are beautifully made and some are a little pricey, but this store is cute for one of a kind gifts! We went upstairs where we browsed dress up costumes, stuffed animals, and they had a little kid's table for kids to color on paper with crayons! My mom found a mother's day gift for her that she wants from my brother and I. It's called a "pic stick" and you can hang it up with pictures of your family on the magnetic stem. Very helpful staff and I can't wait to get this gift for my mom!

Helen Winnemore's might have boring name, but it serves as a great place to buy gifts in German Village. The store's two floors are filled with the sort of handmade items that make you think, "how did they do this?!" The inventory isn't always as hip as one might like -- oh well. There is still a lot to dig at Helen's. Here are a few of their items: -Hand-blown glass ornaments -Unconventional toys and kids' items (maps!) -Carved wood utensils -Handmade greeting cards -Bags -Drawers and drawers of jewelry There is a lot more here -- five rooms on the lower level alone. Set aside some time and check it out. Be sure to enjoy some of their complimentary coffee and tea. It's a neat perk.

In one of the pics I saw a little beehive Christmas ornament so thought I would go check it out (my mom is bee anything crazy). I wasn't sure where the GPS was taking me but once I saw the beatiful mural on the side, I knew where I was heading. Really friendly staff and some really cute gifts here. I was promptly greeted when I came in and was offered some coffee or water. I had to pass as it was a quick stop but I really liked the vide here. The shop had a bit of everything including clothing, candles, jewelry, and all sorts of gifts including some gorgeous drinking glasses. Definitely worth browsing just to check it all out. Overall, it looked like the general price point is on the higher end but nothing too outrageous for a boutique shop. I did find the ornament I saw in the picture but I know my mom already has the same one, or one that could pass off as its twin anyway. So many cute gifts and would totally visit again even though I didn't find something this trip. I really had to resist buying something just to buy it (holidays and all) but they have so much cute stuff.

The store is located just off of High on First Avenue, and the only reason we spotted the tiny clothing store was because of a sign that read "Designer Clothes at 'Knock Off' Prices". There was one more thing that caught my eye on that sign, the part that read sizes went up to 20! I'm not a fashionista by any stretch of the imagination, but maybe it's because as a plus size girl I find it really difficult to find name brand clothing in my size that doesn't look like a floral print potato sack. Savvy on a Shoestring is small, with a couple hand fulls of outfits in each size category. Some of the brands I hadn't heard of, but I did notice a fantastic Vera Wang dress on display. Clothing ranges from business, active wear, evening dresses and accessories in the form of handbags and sunglasses. The lady behind the counter was pleasant to talk to and I told her how happy I was that they carried plus size clothing. She said both her and the owner were larger women, so they tried to look after us curvy girls. However, due to a lack of interest (or perhaps a lack of knowledge) from their customer base, they were going to start scaling back their plus size line. Don't let this happen, Columbus! I just found this great treasure of a store!

The store is also tucked on a side street behind Grandview Mercantile. These factors add up to one thing: me forgetting that Savvy exists. But one of my friends went in recently, and she couldn't stop raving about the place. She put three or four things on hold, all major name designers like Versace, Michael Kors, Dolce & Gabbana...Everything is offered at a huge discount. You can find a $400 pair of jeans selling for $40. I don't know how they do it, but they do. So, this past Holiday Hop, I made it a point to stop in. The store was small but full of clothing neatly arranged on racks by size. Personally, I couldn't find anything that was my style. Everything looked like it was selling to an older crowd. They had a bit of everything from sweat suit jumpers to skirts, blouses, and rain boots. There weren't many duplicate pieces. The workers were nice and had York Peppermint Patties for us. If you're a label whore, give Savvy a peek. It's oddly affordable in a neighborhood full of $200 sweaters.
