We stumbled on this restaurant when we were looking for a place to have breakfast. We stopped in the area on our way home from an early baseball game so we were hot, and hungry. So delish and original organic foods. I loved it. I had the overnight oat pancakes with steamed apples that had lemon zest garnish. So yummy! Finally made it here after many years of passing it and seeing how popular it was. We were in Lancaster for the weekend and staying within walking distance...we ended up here for Sunday breakfast at 8:45am after the first breakfast stop ran out of indoor tables. It was 45 degrees so a tad chilly for outdoor dining. We ended up with the prime front window table On Orange. Our server was awesome, we loved her. And the menu looked so good that we had a hard time deciding. There are only a few tables upstairs socially distanced and they apparently have tables downstairs too. We each had a different 3 egg omelette and I opted for the Florentine omelette and potatoes and it came with thick 7 grain toast. You can get roasted tomatoes instead of potatoes too. My sister-in-law had the Indian omelette which was super spicy. She loved it. And their coffee was amazingly tasty, I had 3 cups! Highly recommend for breakfast. This was the best brunch I had in a long time. We were a big party seated in the backyard, which was nicely decorated and shady with a bit of sun. Their coffee was on point - bold, smooth and not bitter. I ordered the peasant omelette with potatoes, tomatoes and whole grain toast. The potatoes were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The toast was thick, crusty and awesome with jam. The omelette was filling and well made with a ton of filling. It was the perfect meal for a road trip home to NYC. I have been wanting to find a place in the city that makes a vegan breakfast and I found it! My husband and I came for brunch here on a Sunday and my only regret is that we haven't tried this place sooner! The atmosphere was busy but friendly and attentive. We were served promptly and the vegan Swedish oat pancakes were delish! The pancakes were also huge - I would have been fine with ordering just one. The stewed apples are pre-made and not vegan, but applesauce was given as a substitute. There is also a downstairs area so the space is a lot bigger than first impression. My minor complaint (not really a complaint) would be that they serve a vegan margarine as a side with the pancakes. Coconut oil would be nicer. So, I will be honest. I parked intending to go to a different place on the same street but it was closed. God had a hand in this as the result was fantastic! Small quaint cafe. Service a was excellent and fast, considering that they were full! Menu was small, but I went with the special that sounded interesting, a smoked salmon, spinach and goat cheese omelet. It was GREAT! Very delicate flavors that combined nicely. The goat cheese added the compliment to the salmon that made it a winner! There was nothing the business could do about it since the ground itself was slanted, unless they remove the table altogether. We didn't ask to move, as we were seated at the last available table outside. This is a cute cafe with a nice vibe, friendly service, a good selection of entrees and sides, and patio seating. They very nicely accommodated our gluten and dairy allergies (and had no problems after dining). We parked on the street right in front. Many locals eat here and it is a popular venue. For all the years I've lived in Lancaster I've never made it to this place until now! All I've got to say - I will definitely be back. It's a small, quaint place with only a few tables scattered about. Even so, we walked in and didn't have to wait for a table. About 15 minutes into our time there though, the place filled up and there was barely a table available. We were going for brunch and I was very happy with their menu selection. It's not very large, yet for a small, mom and pop place, I thought they had a good variety. We ordered the baked oatmeal and their traditional eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast plate. WOW. I don't normally exclaim over my food, but I was so happy with how everything turned out. You could tell everything was homemade and fresh. The servers were also very attentive and friendly. All in all, I will definitely be back and would highly recommend this place for brunch and good coffee! read more

Visiting from out of town and stopped in to have a late breakfast on Orange Street. On Orange looked cute from the street so we decided to stop in. Finding parking was fairly difficult, however, being 11am on a Saturday that can be expected. There is a paid parking garage about 2 blocks away for those who hate the hunt of the parking space game, but after some maneuvering we were able to find a street spot. The restaurant was half full, which I was thankful for because I was starving and assumed there would be a wait, but we were offered our choice of table and were served waters and menus straight away. Service was quick and the food was delicious! I ordered the Peasant omelet breakfast which came with a choice of white, rye, or 7 grain bread and a choice of roasted potatoes, tomatoes, or a mixture of both. I chose the rye with the tomato/potato mixture and it was fabulous. Portion size was good, even being hungry on arrival I still was able to take some home. My dining mate ordered the Indian omelet breakfast with potatoes, white bread, and a side of Canadian bacon. I always enjoy when I see Canadian bacon on a menu because growing up 20 minutes from Canada it was something we enjoyed at family breakfasts often and is a nostalgic treat when offered. The Indian omelet had a really nice spice to it, so if you like heat that's the way to go. I really enjoyed both breads, as they were fresh and hearty. The toast really stood up to the eggs as I like to utilize the bread as a shovel and eat the eggs that way. The bread didn't fall apart and was a perfect thickness for this task. I love hot sauce and was offered both Cholula and a green habanero sauce that was delicious by El Yucateco. We both ordered coffee with our meals and were asked 3 additional times if we would like a free refill. Again, the service was fast, friendly, and accommodating. Our waitress served us two free homemade cookies at the end of our meal that really hit the spot. I would definitely come back here again if I'm ever in the area. Pretty solid brunch spot. Like most of the more popular brunch spots I frequent, they don't take reservations. The wait was said to be around 45 minutes when we called, down to 25 minutes when we arrived, and we were definitely seated inside in under that at 10 am on Sunday. They also have a full patio outside as well. Don't let the wait deter you. While the breakfast menu (which is served all day) is a tad on the smaller side, it seems as though there's something for everyone. Whether you want to keep it simple with classic egg, meat and potatoes plate, filled 3 egg omelettes, to newer ideas such as CHILAQUILES which is tortilla chips topped with spicy red chili chorizo, quest fresco, avocado and two eggs over easy. They have house made granola or oats for healthier options too. There's something for meat eaters and vegans alike. I personally opted to try something different which were the SWEDISH PANCAKES otherwise known as Svenska Pannkakor. They are made with organic oats and served with maple syrup & stewed apples. There's the option to make them vegan for $1 more and they can be ordered with 1,2, or 3 to a plate. I would say to go with one as they're pretty filling. You could always add another. I made the mistake of getting two because I didn't see one as an option and had the entire second leftover. I had never had these before and I really really enjoyed them. They have an interesting texture and sweet taste alone without syrup. I want to try to make them at home! I would definitely come back to indulge in these again! Oh, and I also had a side of delicious semi spicy vegan sausage. Yum! Hubs said his CHILAQUILES were just ok, nothing too special, but my brother who ordered an omelette with a side of roasted tomatoes and potatoes and my sister in law who ordered a Canadian bacon breakfast sammy all enjoyed their meals. Are use yelp to find this little café on one of my husband and my visits to Lancaster. This place is small, and cozy. We were greeted shortly after walking through the door and seated immediately. Joan was our server and she was an absolute doll. One of the standouts of my meal, the savory peasant omelette, was the bread that came with it. They don't serve alcohol here, so boozy brunch is out of the question. But the food is great. Every time we've tried to come here since our first visit it's been super crowded. The outdoor area in the back is beautiful! It's just a little bit uncomfortable with the uneven ground, but we managed to get over it and enjoyed our breakfast. I ordered the Swedish pancake, it was gigantic (didn't know this when I ordered 2 layers)! They don't have chocolate syrup for the pancake, but offered to put chocolate chips in the pancake, to which I said yes. It tastes different than the usual pancake because of the oatmeal ingredient. Experience! Had a nice Sunday breakfast travelling through Lancaster from Philly on the way eventually to Pittsburgh, next stop Gettysburg - after flying in from Oakland, CA. There are plenty of good restaurants in the S.F. Bay Area and On Orange would fit right in. As would Bittersweet near the weird Nemacolin resort we stayed at. Nice downtown storefront location up a few steps from the sidewalk, inside is quirky with a dining area with eating / ordering bar counter and a downstairs that felt speakeasy historic with bathrooms, more dining area and a backyard. Food was great, a limited menu but had a grilled cheese sandwich and nice small salad for brunch with a great (never had one before) Swedish pancake accompaniment. The grilled cheese kindof a panini had three kinds of cheese and was really good, excellent salad. The place felt like a home and restaurant with nice artwork, big windows, good service and obviously a lot of care and thought put in to giving people a nice experience, which we had. The internet says this is French Modern Cuisine but it's more of a global fusion. They meld many different global flavors together and it works! What an unexpected surprise! I love their creativity and I would never have thought to put Kim chee in Mac n cheese ever! I had the pork chop with Korean bbq sauce, the Mac and kimcheese and asian styled spinach. My dining partner had the lobster and crayfish noodles. Both very tasty! We ended our wonderful dinner with their citronelle soufflé. The coconut was the prominent flavor with a hint of lime and the lemongrass was very subtle in the soufflé. They are a BYOB and it looks as though they are adding more decor to their back patio outdoor seating area. They also follow proper covid precautions with masks and distancing. Great little menu with excellent service. Endless cups of great tasting coffee. My husband and I visited the end of February 2022 and they had a Mardi Gras special, my husband loved it. Full of flavor with red beans and rice with sausage, egg and cheese. I had the Swedish waffle and a side of potatoes. Delicious! They even serve chocolate chip cookies with the bill. Having read good reviews this might be a fluke but we just had a horrible time here. Started off as I walked in the door. They have no parking here so dropped my wife off for the short wait and found a spot. I walked in the door and didn't even have the keys on the table before the waitress asks if I was ready to order. I told her I just walked in and asked for a min. She seemed snarky. I asked my wife, did I say that rudely? She says, no she seems to have that attitude with the table next to us as well. Orders an omelet and wife had chilliqueles, ok I know I spelled that one wrong. Her dish had the chips so crumbled up that it tasted of mush. They were not homemade chips so do not hold up well to being cooked with sauce. My omelet didn't come with cheddar. They claim it was but I know the difference between cheddar and provolone. What made the experience terrible was two things. The service was terrible. The waitress never once came back to ask how are meals were. When she finally did she seemed snarky. The other killer. And why we wouldn't go back is that it was so hot in there. I do not enjoy dressing nice and sitting with sweat rolling off me while eating breakfast.
