Ok, yes there are SO many bike shops in San Diego. However, amidst the horrible reviews, there were many with great reviews. So I rolled the dice and took my beach cruiser in. Needed an overall tune up and some love. As gifting it to a young friend who can ride it more than the garage it was resting in, I told Mark & Edith my plans. Staff and bike mechanics were great but owner is very rude. Called the day before about work on my bike, spoke to owner who seemed friendly, next day came in with bike and was speaking to lady in the front and was explaining what was getting done, owner came over told her to help the other customer and when she said I think you spoke to him (me) he said "yeah I know I can hear him CHANGING things" implying that I'm trying to get more out of him for less money, I didn't even pay yet. I brought it in for to get my drive train adjusted because shifting was bad and that I think my front brakes were contaminated. That's all. I bought the bike used a friend and haven't riden the bike on a trail yet. When I handed him my bike he goes " what did you spill on the brakes that contaminated them, I need to know, in a very aggressive attitude I said I don't know I just think it was contaminated. " because the brakes pads were slipping when filling compressed against the rotor By this point I'm tempted to take my bike back and the only reason I brought it there was that it's only 2 miles from my house. So after that I left the bike and I get a text saying that it will be this, this and this and the price it's $318. I called to just confirm what exactly I'm getting with that since $318 is a lot of money. And again I'm met with aggressive comments of "I thought I was very clear in the text" to which I reply well that's a lot of money so I'm confirming what my money is going towards, I wouldn't want to CHANGE things. Granted my text didn't have a date of when the bike should be finished or when to pick it up. I only got a date when I called to confirm what day it is.. even though "he thought he was very clear in the text" Fast forward to the pick up date he told me when I called... I had to to call to check the status of my bike, when I called I could hear him say " whats the status of the canyon? Is it done yet?" Turns out it was done . His mechanics are great guys and but he's so rude that even though I live two miles away I'd rather make the further trip to Alan's bike shop or bicycle warehouse read more

This place was fantastic! I'm new to biking and I had a triathlon the next morning. I realized very last minute that both of my road bike tires were halfway inflated even after pumping them up the previous day! It was about midday on a Saturday and they were going to close in 2 hours when I stopped in here and asked if I could get my tubes replaced before they closed. They seemed really busy, but they knew I was desperate for their help. I could've done it myself but I wanted a mechanic to do it so I had confidence in my bike for my race the next day. Everyone was sooo kind and sooo helpful! I was able to get my bike back within an hour and half (15 mins before they closed). I am so thankful for their generosity to help me out! Utter incompetence. Brought a bike in after having a little wreck on it after maybe 80 miles of lifetime use. Bike was pulling HARD to the left, nothing subtle about it. Rear brake also had to be pumped a time or two to engage. Left it there and got a call the next day saying the headset was adjusted and brake pads changed to resolve the issue. When I questioned how the brake pads could be worn totally in 80 miles, I was told I rode them too hard. I got on to test ride the back and the pulling to the left issue was EXACTLY the same. No improvement. Apparently they don't find it necessary to test ride bikes, especially ones brought in with safety issues. When I walked the bike back into the shop, the technician noticed that the fork was totally bent. This was apparently a new observation to him. I was then made to source my own replacement part and bring it back. They balked when I asked for credit for the headset work performed that didn't help. The new fork was installed and the bike rode properly again. However the new brakes were squeaking like crazy, and performed CONSIDERABLY worse than the originals. After doing my own troubleshooting and research, I found that the pads had been just fine, it was the handle itself that had gotten damaged in the crash. I am honestly still in shock at the incompetence of this shop. Needless to say, avoid at all costs. read more

I stopped in at Omega with my high end mountain bike that was having derailleur problems. I found a fully stocked store with a well appointed, high tech service shop and knowledgeable technicians, tucked into an unassuming corner of a Target shopping center. These guys quickly diagnosed and repaired my issues, and got me back out riding quickly and inexpensively, without a lot of fanfare. I'm impressed. My bike now has a new service home. read more

Do not speak to Edith! Extremely rude, no service skills absolutely the worst EVER! If she is there speak to someone else. She insulted and challenged a MINOR! Behavior completely unacceptable! I am horrified for the experience my daughter had as we were being charged a different price for the same service two days prior. We simply were asking why. Shoving things in her face to the point of tears over a $5 inquiry...as Edith stated wasn't worth it. A gentleman took over and was kind. Today I walked into the store to buy a couple tubes for my road bike . I Was asked what size and I said 25mm . Felt like since I didn't say 700c they were confused, no big deal. When I went to pay with my credit card there system crashed. No big deal again. I waited. When the little ex Marine stormed out I mentioned that the transaction went through on my end . He snapped at me saying he didn't care . He said what matters is what happened on his end . Hello all cyclists! I'm an avid road bike cyclist and usually do my own maintenance do to 40 years experience and logged in 60,000 miles. Went to Omega as it's close to my Jeffries Ranch Neighborhood..only needed a spoke, not replaced as it easy for me to do...just measure my wheel cut me a spoke and that' it. The owner ( Mark ) treated me horribly basically saying he's really busy and doesn't have time for this. I truly felt I did something wrong and was bothering him. When I asked a few questions he short answered and basically he'll get his guy to cut me a spoke. I was grateful but was felt to feel inadequate and wasting his time. Thanked them for doing this within only 5 hours, Spoke was cheap as should be and only charged $10 for cutting. They text me saying spoke was ready, I went to pick up the wheel and the soke that I was going to install myself and couldn't believe it got worse! II got there said Thank you! can you please tell me the size of the spoke size spoke I'm buying for future reference, the woman up front said it's the spoke that fits your bike, Fair enough but not cool...is it 255mm 26mm they clearly know this, I asked the Owner Mark and he said I don't know ( seriously )! Thankfully his bike tech that actually cut and measured overheard and said i measured your wheel spokes and cut the spoke...it's 251mm Thats all I wanted to hear and the tech is awesome but the Owner Mark unless your spending or buying a bike is a rude completely and disrespectful! read more

Very happy with repairs made here to my bike with the derailer and back brake($55) ! Price was competitive and repair took 5 days (kinda long- take off 1 star for wait) but overall repairs made and bike performed very well on the trails. I would recommend this place to fix your bike. I came in to see the sizes of some bmx bikes 24" and 26" and see if one would be comfortable for me. Right off the bat I was greeted by the owner and let him know my plan. He began taking bikes out and letting me sit on them, with no issue. When I got there the person who helped me over the phone was helping someone else, so another person assisted. I am so thankful to have such an awesome bike shop near me. I don't know why some of the reviews are negative, but my experience was 100% positive. The best thing about this bike shop are the people. I lost a derailur hangar cap screw for my rear axel yesterday on a trail and ended my ride immediately. I called around a few spots and nobody was able to help me. I called KHS inc and was directed to Omega Bicycles. I called Omega this afternoon and they recommended i bring in my bike to make sure thats all i needed. I was greeted by Mark and Ed as soon as I walked in; and they instantly knew i was the guy that called and emailed them pictures of the problem earlier in the day. The shop called back KHS direct and verified the correct part number, they happened to have that part in stock! I couldn't believe it! I purchased it and installed it immediately in the shop, then noticed i had a broken spoke on the rear as well, thinking what a bummer, i'll for sure have to special order a spoke. NOPE!! This shop is so well equipped, Mark and Ed were able to cut down and thread a brand new spoke for me ON SITE with their special tools/machinery. They are the only shop that i know of with a spoke cutting/threading machine. Again, i couldn't be happier! These guys are super friendly, knowledgeable, professional and efficient. I installed my new spoke they made for me as soon as i got home and I'm back on the road now! These guys rock, 5-stars all the way around. They are world class, fast, and the best customer service iv seen in years. We are extremely lucky to have a shop that values their customers like this still in business! Iv been coming here for tubes and accessories for about 10yrs now; but this was my first experience with replacement proprietary parts and service. On pickup I sulked because my wheels were different colors. Mechanically sound and a quick turnaround, but one black one silver. I made my feelings known. So now, you are asking - why 5 stars? The Cannondale bike in question is still for sale brand new - but you try finding the parts. I soon came round to the owner of this shop's way of thinking. He'd had to use generic parts and had explained as much. But he was having a laugh at my expense, surely? NOPE: 2 days of me on the internet proved him right: no OEM parts to be had. I'd heard of built-in obsolesence, but not while it's still on sale. True fact tho. So I agreed to pick up the bike. Later that day I took the wheel to a paint shop friend who owed me a favor and he fixed the paint match. Sulk over. This shop is honest, quick, patient and a good price, and real calm. If you're struggling for parts, look up - it's these manufacturers who obviously don't want you to repair your bike / just buy a new one every year, by the looks of it. I took my bike in for a basic tune-up on a Friday. I asked them when it would be ready and they said by Thursday or Friday of next week. Saturday I still had not heard from them. I stopped by 15 minutes before they opened and the owner was inside and VERY rudely I don't have time for you and come back to talk to mechanic. He also helped me out with some solid new wheels recommendations which I took, as it's very hard to find new 26" tubeless MTB wheels these days as the format is phased out!! Customer service is very important to me, it's almost a dying art, except at Omega. I bought a mountain bike a year ago from them but ended up riding it only three times. It was the correct size for me but I had trouble mounting and dismounting, so I didn't ride. I came back to Omega with my issue and Mark immediately was concerned about rectifying this problem. I loved my mountain bike but at the age of 72, I had to accept the fact that I needed a different framed bake for a less agile body. Mark was patient with my situation and directed me to a more appropriate fitting bike and exchanged a brand-new hybrid bike for my mountain bike! She's really pretty, too. I've been shopping for a Ebike that fit my 6'-5" height for awhile now. I found the Denago selection at Omega Bike Shop.
