Oh, I am sorry for the late review. We have been out my new bikes from Leucadia Cyclery! We had such a great experience with Leucadia Cyclery & the owner Jeff. He was patience and answered all of questions. He also goes the extra mile telling us the in and out of all the bikes we looked at. Now the Hubs and I have some sweet bikes from Leucadia Cyclery. Check out our rides from MUFF and Leucadia Cyclery.

What a gem of a local bike shop in Encinitas, CA. Owner Jeff and Lead Bike Mechanic Kanyama are super helpful, attentive, and very down to earth. If you're looking for bike or e-bike rentals in North County San Diego, this is the spot. They have a wide selection of bikes and e-bike rentals to choose from and will help you find out which one is best for you. You can also book bikes for multiple days and overnight if needed. They also have an online booking system that lets you rent bikes/e-bikes directly through their website, which is so easy and convenient. 10/10 recommend.

Avoid this business at all costs. I think this is the first time in my life I take the time to write a bad review about a business, but I feel it's a civic duty -- not only did these guys stolen from me, they actually put my life in danger. This shop -- and especially the owner -- isn't just badly run, it's criminal. They overcharge, deliver dangerously poor workmanship, and treat customers with outright aggression. Here's my story: I'm on a long-distance bike trip from Vancouver, Canada all the way to Argentina. I had a brand new touring bike custom-built 60 days ago, and I've ridden over 2,000 miles on this piece of engineering excellence. Naturally, after that distance, some wear occurs. So I stopped in this town to have the chain replaced and the tires resealed with tubeless sealant. I booked a cheap hotel and an appointment at this bike shop, conveniently located a few steps away. The next morning, I went to pick up my bike -- and it was in worse shape than before. It hadn't even been tested. It made a horrible grinding noise with every pedal stroke. I argued that this was unacceptable, but both the owner and the mechanic -- who behaved like an aggressive gorilla -- immediately escalated the situation with threatening body language and verbal aggression. They shouted that my bike was junk and blamed everything on the bike itself. This is a purpose-built touring bike with a Surly frame and Shimano components -- respected brands that carried me safely across thousands of miles through the U.S. and Canada. Sadly, it didn't end there. It got much worse. Knowing I was dealing with complete amateurs, I decided to just pay for the chain and sealant and take the bike to a real bike shop to fix the grinding. But as soon as I got back to the hotel and leaned the bike against the wall near reception, the front tire exploded. Yes -- exploded. They had messed up the tubeless setup so badly that the pressure couldn't hold. If that had happened while I was riding, I could've been seriously injured or even killed. I brought the bike back to them, and what happened next was just as shocking: the owner told me that if I wanted the tire fixed immediately, I'd have to pay a $100 "jump the line" fee, plus $50 in service charges. And wait for it the owner just simply said and try to explain that this is normal since he see that kind of tire explosion all the time in the back of his shop, "especially when the bicycle are put under the sun" how stupid this guy is, there's no words for it. That was the final straw. Thankfully, I found Cadence Cyclery bikeshop just two miles south. They were incredible. They replaced the chain with a proper Shimano one (not the cheap no-name junk the other shop used), fixed the tubeless mess, and went above and beyond by giving the bike a full tune-up. You can check out my glowing review for them -- they earned it. I usually only write positive reviews. I don't waste time on losers. But Leucadia Cyclery deserves more than a bad review -- they deserve to be sued for endangering their customers' lives Be safe, start by avoiding that place for your bicycle needs.

Incredible atmosphere with very friendly service! Not like a lot of other bike shops where they make you feel incompetent or like you don't know anything. Jeff, was super great to work with and they did a great job fixing my bike! I'll be coming back here again!

Not satisfied with my decision and planning to return the bike I bought less than 12 hours later...I decided to hit Charlie's which was one of the few in the area I hadn't tried yet, specifically because of the poor reviews here. I had a 10/10 experience, especially by comparison here. Charlie (not the owner, I asked) was friendly, approached us within a few minutes of us arriving, was knowledgeable and answered any and all questions and was very patient with us and our ignorance. Picked up a bike that he seemed to know a lot about, and when I did my own research before buying he was spot on with all of the information. I was glad to give him my business, and I hope that if I experience any service needs in the future for my bike that they will exhibit the level of service I was provided today. Oh, also price wise...I got a new troxus for 300 less than it is being advertised for on the manufacturer website for sale. happy about that too!

First, Dan is super-friendly, safety conscious and very affordable. I had shopped around and a friend recommended i check them out and after checking out the stock in the shop (by Bobby Riggs and SDA) I decided to support a local business. I had read a lot of reviews of people buying big box ebikes or online stuff and having nightmares Trying to fix stuff. Lo and behold, My son had an accident (he is fine, thankfully!) and Steve repaired it gratis today! (I couldnt believe they were open, let alone able to fix it on a Sunday!) It actually took longer to drive there than the fix. They were out of the part (steering wheel stem) and he pulled it off of another bike they had in stock! Never met Dan or Steve before this, but so impressed with speed and attention to detail. Btw, the stem did not break in the accident, but I stripped the part where you screw it in afterwards. Totally my fault. I am guessing if I had bought a big box brand, there would have been a cost and significant wait for this type of part/repair. Others can probably inform better there. My son asked me to make this post, he loves his bike, its got leather seats, super -comfy and he said its seems better made than a lot of the ones he sees at his school CCA. So if you are looking for an ebike, highly recommend these guys! Support local! And please say hi!

Every tag on the store on every bike states the included the "ready to ride" set up fee. The bike we wanted said $350 and includes $25 Ready to Ride. I went to look at helmets, Walter was already ringing up my husband. Where he attempted to pull a bait and switch with the tag. He rang it up at $350 PLUS $25 set up fee. When my husband asked to see the tag, he would not show it and then said it was wrong, looked on the official bike site and THEN held up a smaller bar code tag that stated $325. (Not our fault). He was being shady, and then stated "I'll take off $20". This is a $5 difference. It's the principle of the bait and switch tactics. He was quick to take off $20 because he knew he wasn't being honest. He never stated while we were asking questions at the bike at the display that it was actually a different price. He dampened a really fun experience of buying a bike for our son's birthday. We didn't walk out excited by the bike, we walked out feeling gross. We have bikes- he asked that- we could've been repeat customers had he not pulled this. It's a terrible practice and we won't be going back. We didn't buy the helmet- and the only reason we didn't walk out was because the bike my son wanted was there in store; the color is hard to come by. We bought the bike- as you can see on the receipt the bike is $330 with a $25 fee. If all the tags stated (as you can see in the various price points that the RTR fee is INCLUDED) why would the math not math? The Riprock coaster (picture included) 16" was the same price as the 20". We bought the 20". Same tag same price same INCLUDED FEE. It's shame that this was the experience of trying to buy local.
