I took my recently purchased Aventon cargo bike in for an inspection. They said it needed a new motor. Gave them the information needed for the warranty but they ultimately said to take the bike elsewhere. They didn't want to do the work on reaching out to Aventon customer service. The only reason I took the bike there in the first place was because they are listed on the aventon website. They didn't even give me a detailed breakdown on the bike, brake life, wheel life or anything like that. When trying to reach out to them for that information they said they didn't have anything listed on their computer. They were really unprofessional and rude. Especially the woman. I reached out to Aventon directly, they are sending me the motor it was fast and easy. If I could give 0 starts I would. Waste of time and money. read more

I wish I would have seen reviews for this place first. I placed an online order on 10/12/2025. I have spent the last three and a half weeks trying to get an answer from ANYONE at this shop and zero effort bas been made. I have spoken with them on 4 separate occasions and they keep telling me to email online@socalbike.com and someone will respond. After sending 4 emails over the past 3 weeks, I think nobody is getting back to me and I'm stuck with a tire I don't need. Absolutely pathetic customer service. SoCal bikes terrible experience and loss my money. I have order a handlebars and mud guard, I only received one part, I had emailed several times and always they give me a tracking number, I'm trying to explain that only one part was on the box and I need the other one, they stop responding, I called the number they have and the guy answered was yelling me like he is on drugs, and says you can't talk to sales only by email, so I never got the mud guard and never got my money back! I do not recommend if you don't want to have terrible experience in case they make a mistake with what you ordered, you don't go to get your money back read more

Rented 5 e bikes today and it was awesome!! Lindsay helped us out and showed us how to use everything. She made us feel very comfortable and the rental process was quick and easy. The prices were better than anywhere else in the area. We will definitely be back unless I can get my husband to buy some which they also have some for sale. read more

A friend of ours recommended this place for kids bikes. They were very helpful, helped us get the bike set up and adjusted. I liked the fact that they give priority to a guy who was riding long distance, with a flat/bent rim - we were in no hurry, and he had a long way to get home. read more

What a great place! 10/10 highly recommend! Wanted to find a place that was not in the heart of Oceanside in order to avoid crowds and so happy we came here! First off plenty of parking to leave your car and enjoy your day on a rental bike Second the staff (I didnt get his name) was extremely helpful and very quick with assisting my parents and I. TRUST THOSE WHO YELP REGULARLY... What an iconic, local shop. I've been around the bike riding/racicing scene for over 20 years, and THIS is what it's supposed to be like. Walk in, meet the owner, Jim, and be treated like a tenured cyclist from the onset. Be cool, get cool in return. BIG shop with Jim, himself working the service department. I brought my wheels in just to be seated, and Jim hooked me up FAST while multi-tasking another job. This was HUGE for my big ride tomorrow. This place is awesome. Brought my bike in for a quick overhaul and they were incredibly enthusiastic to work on it. They even diagnosed a rear derailleur problem I had and got me a new chain very quickly. I would have given 5 stars, but the girl that was working that day kind of gave me a rude comment when I told them how much I paid for my bike. Other than that, it will be my new LBS. read more

We arrived around 10am. We were greeted and helped by Lindsey. It was a hours of 4 of us that came and rented bikes. Lindsey was so welcoming and took care us of really well! We had plenty of time with our rentals and when we returned, Lindsey welcomed us back. We asked if she can take a picture of us and she happily did it. Definitely will return in the future. They were awesome to work with and held my bike for a week while my accessories were on back order awaiting to be delivered to finish off the assembly. Great friendly service. So my husband went in this morning to have a few things fixed on a electric bike he was gifted. He called before hand and spoke to a lady who knew the exact issue and brand of the bike and told him to bring it in. Basically the guy he saw today implied that his bike was a "disposable" bike since it's only worth $600 bucks and not worth it. It's fine if you only work on high end e bikes but overall that's unprofessional. Who are you to decide if a bike is worth fixing? We were gifted this bike so even if it cost $400 to fix it would be worth it to us. Will be taking our money elsewhere. read more

Love this bike shop! We were looking for bike rentals on our vacation to Oceanside and SoCal bike was recommended to us. The employees were so friendly and helpful and got us all hooked up with the perfect bikes for our family of 5. The shop dog (Amo) was a fun bonus too! Wow, I just got my bike back from Steve after overhauling and tuning up my full suspension mountain bike. It works great. He has his own shop within this bike store. I recently moved to O'Side and wasn't able to travel with my bike so was in need of one to rent. The staff was really friendly. I was able to reserve and pay online the night before. Picked up bike without any issues. The only hiccup was that the establishment closes earlier than what my reservation was for, but the guys were very accommodating. Very rude guy. Sells everything over MSRP with the excuse "well we have it her now" just taking advantage of the current shortage. A chain that is $85 he sold for &120 that is straight out being a thief. He said "well if you dont like it go somewhere else. This place has the worst owner ever! I went in there trying to get my bike repaired. I brought my own parts (derailleur, spokes and dropper post) He started cussing at me because I bought the parts on "Amazon" as he claimed. I was actually gifted those parts from friends. He was straight up disrespectful, I felt like he wanted to fight, no lie. Just stay away from this place, someone with this attitude has serious issues. He straight up told me he was going to upcharge me because I brought my own parts in. No shame. read more

I came in because I needed a tune up, and Jim's price was less than the shop near my home. My bike's like new, after he replaced the rear tire for a great price. He got it done a day early and stayed right until the shop closed so I could pick it up! I also needed a bike for my 10 year old-- his first shifting bike. Jim gave me an amazing deal on a used Specialized Hot Rock, so I'm a customer for life! The location is perfect for downtown, and the shop is large with good variety. I brought my bike in last week on Thursday and it was done by Sunday =) I called many shops in the area and was told it was at least a 7-10 days. when i arrived they immediately made me feel very welcomed and had great customer service! I asked for a new phone mount to be added, a full inspection of the bike since i started riding longer distances as well as checking the bags and light on the bike to be adjusted. the owner helped me with everything and more to ensure the bike would be ready! Jim even let me know the next day i'd need a new tire as well and as soon as i got my bike back i took it for a ride and noticed the difference immediately in the overall performance of the bike. i would highly recommend this shop for fixing anything to do with your bike!! Theyre super nice here and happy to help you =) they also have a great selection of bikes and rent bikes as well. read more

This place restored my faith in humanity. I went to Oceanside for an organized 50 mile ride. After driving from LA, I realized I forgot my helmet. Not wanting to buy a new helmet, I walked over to the rental shop and he had a great selection of good helmets. Although he normally only rents helmets with bikes, he let me rent just the helmet for a day. For a very decent price. He has a good shop and does repairs as well. So if you are in Oceanside and need a Beach Cruiser for the day, this is where you want to be. read more

Meet the Business Owner: Jim N.

I started SoCal Bike in 2013. Cycling has been a part of my life for more than 40 years, as a mechanic/store owner, as a racer & recreational cyclist, and as a licensed USA Cycling/UCI Mechanic. I have participated in many fundraiser rides as well as raced on the velodrome and the road. I have ridden in the pro team car caravan, jumped and changed wheels, and traveled with pro teams. I enjoy all forms of cycling, downhill skiing, traveling, beer AND wine, and good food and friends. I have lived in SoCal more than 30 years and Cardiff has been our home for the last 10 years. This is as close as I can get to sitting on the beach drinking Mai Tais and renting bikes.

This young man named Mark who was a extremely friendly young Mexican man who has moved on to becoming an Emt i believe. Any repair big or small they have completed ASAP, they're always professional and friendly to everyone who walks into those doors. And they are great with communication and calling. With my current Ebike, because the kabbit had a wiring issue and had a little fire, UNDER MY SEAT‍. I returned to Alan's because I knew id get a fair price for a decent bike. Sure enough Rob hooked me up with the Ava Big Sur, literally the first one they built out the box. I love this bike and I cant say enough good things. Well, there haven't been many problems but 3 big ones. This is to be expected because my bike is my transportation. So 365 this bike is on the road. first there was a wiring issue and the owner himself rewired my whole bike (2 year warranty FTW), then this time last year I was having throttle issues so we swapped that out for like 60 bucks, now its the controller which is funny because I told Rob I think the controller needs to be replaced with the throttle (you cant see me but im shaking my fist jk). All these repairs combined the big issue was the wait. If you could imagine suddenly youre walking 7 miles in the rain at 4am to work. But thats not their fault. Sadly they dont have the wearhouse from Indiana Jones so they dont have every part to every bike. I understand this is a long review, but I feel ppl only talk about when theyre mad. I had a recumbent picker rebuilt here - end to end replacement of nearly everything - and they did a great job. It took a while, mostly because of having to order parts. I wasn't going to leave a review, my bike needed to come back twice after my initial service, as…read moretheir quality control seems to be a little lacking, but when their employees (owner?) had to make unnecessary, snarky comments, on my way out, I changed my mind on letting others know about my experience. Background: The week before 4th of July, I needed my rear brakes bled on my mountain bike, as I wanted to ride it in the Oceanside bike parade. The local bike shops near me had no availability, likely because the thousands of other riders in the area, also needed some service before the event. I called Omega, which is about a 20 minute drive for me, and they confirmed they could accommodate me. After putting a lot of road miles on my bike last year, I figured there would be some other items needing to be addressed. Regarding the rear brakes, they said they needed to replace the rear caliper, not just bleed the brakes. Omega then messaged me and said the chain was stretched beyond its service specs, and I approved the replacement. Then came a message saying shifters needed to be degreased, and one adjusted. Also, the rear tire was older and they also recommended replacing it. Cool, approved. Then a call saying the rear cassette should be replaced, as the teeth on it were also worn beyond spec. My $65 brake bleed was now a $400 bill, but again, I put thousands of road miles on it last year, and as this was a high end bike when I bought it 15 or 16 years ago, I'm OK with spending some money on it. Fast forward to picking it up a few days later. I didn't bother test riding it in the parking lot, as I trusted they did that, so I took the front tire off and put it in my hatchback. The next day, I go to ride it for the bike parade, and immediately found that while pedaling, it's making all sorts of grinding noise, and the chain is frequently jumping off the front sprocket. Note, I had no drivetrain issues before bringing it in, it shifted well and always stayed in the gear I put it in. The bike parade was a slow, 5mph ride, all of 7 miles round trip, so I dealt with it. After the holiday weekend, I brought it back to Omega, let them know what was going on, and left it with them. They called and let me know one of the front chainrings was worn, and needed to be replaced. OK, odd that this wasn't noticed while they were doing all of the other drivetrain work, but I approved it, and some new grips to replace my original ones that were getting sticky. I picked up the bike, again removed the front wheel to fit it in my car, and brought it home. Right after pickup, the family took a vacation, so while a few weeks passed, zero miles were put on the bike. The day after I got back in town, I go to ride the bike, and it has the exact same issues as it did when I brought it in the last time! I bring it back to Omega, leave it with them, and they message me later in the day that the rear hub was loose, and that there was a broken chain link (again, this was a brand new chain that they installed 7 miles ago, and they were the only one who touched the rear hub with all the work they did). When I went to pickup the bike, there was no apology, and furthermore, Mark, who I believe is the owner, made comments that the chain was very dirty. I reiterated that the bike had literally been ridden 6 or 7 miles on the road since the first service, when it was replaced, so I'm not sure how that would be. The woman who works the counter also had to chime in with some comment about the chain being dirty as I was walking out. I don't even know what that would have to do with anything as they said the issue was a broken link and lose hub! Reading the other below average reviews shows others have dealt with their rudeness as well. As such, I won't be returning, nor can I recommend this shop.

Every tag on the store on every bike states the included the "ready to ride" set up fee. The bike we wanted said $350 and includes $25 Ready to Ride. I went to look at helmets, Walter was already ringing up my husband. Where he attempted to pull a bait and switch with the tag. He rang it up at $350 PLUS $25 set up fee. When my husband asked to see the tag, he would not show it and then said it was wrong, looked on the official bike site and THEN held up a smaller bar code tag that stated $325. (Not our fault). He was being shady, and then stated "I'll take off $20". This is a $5 difference. It's the principle of the bait and switch tactics. He was quick to take off $20 because he knew he wasn't being honest. He never stated while we were asking questions at the bike at the display that it was actually a different price. He dampened a really fun experience of buying a bike for our son's birthday. We didn't walk out excited by the bike, we walked out feeling gross. We have bikes- he asked that- we could've been repeat customers had he not pulled this. It's a terrible practice and we won't be going back. We didn't buy the helmet- and the only reason we didn't walk out was because the bike my son wanted was there in store; the color is hard to come by. We bought the bike- as you can see on the receipt the bike is $330 with a $25 fee. If all the tags stated (as you can see in the various price points that the RTR fee is INCLUDED) why would the math not math? The Riprock coaster (picture included) 16" was the same price as the 20". We bought the 20". Same tag same price same INCLUDED FEE. It's shame that this was the experience of trying to buy local.

You do get a great view of the beach and water, but it's straight and back (and all flat). We did the entire route (stopping once to use the restroom) in approximately 30 minutes (and we are definitely not currently in shape). I don't know why someone would rent one of these bikes for longer than an hour. The bikes/surreys are a bit dated, but it worked decently. It's definitely a good workout, but you have to share the route with cars and lots of other bike riders, walkers, pedestrians, etc. I would recommend this excursion for anyone trying to kill some time near the beach and catch some ocean breeze.

We had never driven or ridden on an e-bike before but that didn't matter because the owner goes over everything you need to know in great detail and shows you all the safety rules and driving tips. He even rides down to the beach with you to make sure you have a hang of it before letting you go out on your own. We rented for an hour and got to ride all around Oceanside. I am giving Green Flash 2 stars based on a severely rushed recent inspection and the poor quality…read moreof their past repair work. Recently, I had them come out because I suspected termites in one of our rafter tails. To their credit, they correctly identified that specific spot as just fungus and didn't try to oversell me on treatments I didn't need. However, their inspection was incredibly brief. They spent only a few minutes scanning the house, didn't check the attic at all, and gave us the all-clear. A couple of days later, I had a second company come out for another look. They spent almost an hour doing a thorough inspection and found a severe termite infestation in a different rafter tail that was almost entirely hollowed out. They spotted the signs right through the paint. Green Flash completely missed this. On top of the missed inspection, the wood rot repairs Green Flash did for us 5 years ago (costing about $1,200) have both failed and need to be redone. They spliced a rafter tail that is now loose, and it turns out they miscut a replacement barge board on the back of the house. To cover up the bad cut, they glued a scrap piece of wood over it, which has since detached and is currently hanging off the board. Bottom line: They failed to do a thorough termite inspection, and their carpentry work doesn't hold up. I highly recommend getting a second opinion on their inspections and hiring a dedicated specialist for any actual wood repairs.
