We have dined at Olympic Restaurant many times and are always very happy with both the service and the food. This occasion was just as enjoyable. Our server, Herbie, greeted us at the door with a smile and seated us promptly. The restaurant was fairly busy. The atmosphere was cheerful with lively conversations. Herbie was very attentive and friendly. Our party of four ordered an appetizer of Beer Battered Mushrooms for the table. They were piping hot and tasty. Herbie also brought garlic breadsticks for us to share. I ordered the Greek Salad. It proved to be one of the best salads I have eaten at a restaurant. The ingredients were fresh, crisp, abundant and delicious. No need for a take home box. I finished the entire thing! The rest of our party was equally satisfied. The pork chops were tender and flavorful and filling. We thoroughly had a delightful evening and look forward to returning in the near future. I highly recommend Olympic Restaurant. read more

One time restaurant stuck in the 50s. The food is fair at best. Just not my kind of place.

We were starving and couldn't find any other place to eat around. We were seated at a booth and immediately greeted by our very kind server. Place was a bit outdated but clean. Mom ordered prosecco, I had the spicy margarita. We both ordered tuna melts and I went for the salad bar. Salad bar was not something I'd do again. Mushy tomatoes, a few odd pasta salads. Just ok. Tuna melts were also just ok. I only ate half. I think the cheese was Kraft singles. The service was great though! Spicy margarita was missing something.... We wouldn't come back for the food. But, appreciated the great and friendly service. read more

The wife and I stopped in at the Olympic Restaurant and had a great experience. She ordered the salad bar, which had a large selection and plenty of fresh options. I went with the Cuban sandwich and a side of potato salad. The sandwich was very good--full of flavor and nicely prepared. The potato salad was a little different than I'm used to, with the potatoes more ground up, but it was still very tasty. Dulce S was our server and she was very attentive and pleasant throughout the meal. I couldn't finish everything, so I grabbed a slice of red velvet cake to go. She threw in some extra pickles Overall, the meal was very affordable, and we'll definitely be back again. read more

So once upon a time, the pandemic hit, and the much-loved salad bar here bit the dust! There was tremendous hue and cry from the customers, including me, but it was to no avail. The servers also yelled and screamed because they had to make the salads but nope, management held firm. Finally, management reconsidered this fall and it's back! Hallelujah! This will be a short specialty review with a focus on the salad bar. So, I blew in for lunch intending to have the salad bar as my side. As soon as you walk in the door you are staring at it. Check out three of my photos. One is of the full bar and then there are close ups of each half. Note how meticulously maintained it is. Everything is scrupulously fresh! It's not particularly large but has enough variety to satisfy most everyone. By the way, your server will bring out cold salad plates as needed. So, what's the cost? It depends. On this day I ordered an Open Face Hot Roast Beef Sandwich @ $11.50. It came with one side. To substitute the salad bar was an upcharge of $3.50. That's a hell of a deal! With other more expensive entrees it may be included. The salad bar was just as I expected. Crisp and fresh and absolutely delicious! My husband loves liver and onions and dice I dislike cooking it, eating out is the way to go for us. His order came out quickly and prepared the way he requested...rare with no gravy. We were traveling and found Olympic through Maps. The building is older but the food is Fresh! We had the ribeye, chef salad, Reuben and cod with lemon butter sauce. All were delicious and everyone wants to come here again. Service was a little slow but it was busy and our server took very good care of us. I can recommend without hesitation. read more

food was good but they charged a 20%fee on my bill for a large party, which was 4 people! I did not realize 4 people was a larger party, so we will not be returing it is not ok to up the bill 20% because of 4 seats to one bill?! insane! Made reservations because it was Valentine's Day. First time trying this restaurant. Was greeted immediately when we walked in. Several dining rooms and outdoor seating. We were seated at a cozy table in the room with the bar. Most tables were filled but noise levels were low. Once seated we were greeted by our server who brought our menus, tableware and extra napkins. She must know my husband. . We placed a cocktail order, 2 Old Fashions and they were delicious. We were not rushed at all and took our time reviewing the special menu for the holiday along with the regular menu. It was hard to decide as our options were many. We chose a grilled pork chop dinner and grilled chicken breast dinner. Both came with 2 sides. Our dinners were perfectly seasoned, portions were generous and we were very pleased with our dinner. The first time we order to go the food was amazing and delicious! The second time not so much.... the food wasn't as good. I'm not sure what was done differently but it just wasn't the same. We ordered the exact same thing as the first time but we were charged $10 more for some reason ‍ it was just a little disappointing the second go around. I've come to the Olympic a number of times with my grandmother whenever I go visit her in the neighboring town of Frostproof. Overall it's really not a bad restaurant. It's clean and we are usually seated pretty promptly. Service hasn't had any issues that I can recall. Food is decent. Their wraps are good (I like the chicken caesar) and the burger is always cooked to how I want it. Delicious appetizers such as their beer battered mushrooms, southwest egg rolls, and onion rings. Not a fan of their pasta dishes. When I tried their fettuccine alfredo, I was unimpressed. It tasted as if it had been frozen and heated up. Other than that though, I can't complain. Solid 4/5 stars. read more

The food was great! The service was good. The atmosphere was very pleasant and the decor is updated, including the ladies restroom. The ladies restroom is NOT handicap accessible. I use a walker and had to leave it outside the stall, after I determined which stall was meant for handicapped. The stall was difficult to get into because of the direction the door opened and the paper towel dispenser and baby changing station. A wheelchair person would be out of luck because there is no way to get into the stall. When I mentioned to the owner that the accessibility is bad, her reply was that the building is fifty years old. As an establishment that serves a high number of senior citizens one would think the owner would want to accommodate everyone. I felt she was only interested in not being sued since I had fallen due to the difficulties of the restroom. This is my first time to write a bad review for any place. I was able to use the restroom, but a wheelchair person would be out of luck. read more

I've passed this place dozens of times but never had the opportunity to stop, as I drive a truck and parking is always the first thing on my mind. Today we were just out in the car looking for something different to do, and happened to be going by. The food and service are excellent, st very good prices. I had a sirloin that was both tender and delicious, cooked exactly as I ordered it. My partner had the seafood platter which was just loaded with delicious fish, scallops and shrimp. The vegetables are all fresh and prepared to perfection. Lastly the dessert, raspberry cheesecake was top notch. If you're in Avon park, definitely make a stop here, you won't regret it. read more

The food was good and you get pretty good portions for your money, but the service is horrible each time we go in there. Went there a couple days ago and Katie R was our waitress and she acted like she didn't want to be there like she was a zombie, her voice was monotoned. You would talk to her and she would walk away before you were even done which was very rude I though.. She should be happy she has a job. Very disappointed with my meal. I ordered the cowboy steak at market value ($29.99), steamed veggies and salad. Our waitress was outstanding, efficient, very pleasant and also wore a mask. Salad was ok but the steamed veggies were a bowl of mush. It was suppose to be broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. I saw something green that resembled a sliver of broccoli and there was 2 small pieces of cauliflower and the rest was carrots and zucchini that tasted exactly alike. I couldn't finish my second bite. The steak was part medium rare and part medium but mostly fat. There was about 1/3 of the steak that was edible. One good thing about the meal was the boom boom shrimp appetizer. That was delicious but not good enough for me to return to this restaurant in the future. read more

Every time we drive by, we notice how busy they are, so we finally decided to stop in. The food was very good as was the service but we felt like the seating was packed in too tightly. We are large people...my husband is 6'5 and the person sitting behind him couldn't get out of their chair without bumping into him. When we come back to Florida next winter we will come back again, and will hopefully get a seat in the larger section of the restaurant where seating appeared to be more spaced apart. read more
