We totally enjoy ourselves at McMenamins whether here or any of their other locations! Being close to our house and offering patio dining for folks like us with dogs, we frequent as often as we can! Sadly, weather is not always accommodating and the infrequent t rains make the visits limited! I'll be honest, I was a little hesitant to stay at a Mcmenamins bc of the shared bathroom situation. Lucky for us, the other room was unoccupied so really we got the bathroom to ourselves! (Looking back, I don't think I would book this hotel during busy days bc the bathroom situation is too weird for me!) THAT BEING SAID, I'm glad we gave this place a chance! Service was great! From check in to check out! We felt taken care of. The building itself has SO MUCH history! It was very cool to learn about it and walk around. There are none in the rooms. Everything looks original from the early 1900's including creaky floors, old radiator heating system and no elevator upstairs to the rooms. I had a wonderful experience staying at the Olympic Club Hotel and highly recommend it to travelers and visitors alike. I had the opportunity to stay there for a 5-night stint and enjoyed it very much. It's set up historically and has the feel of hotel from years gone by - with signs and décor on the walls explaining the history of the hotel, it's owners and staff, and the town. The rooms themselves are small and it's definitely a no-frills sort of set up (bed, sink, table), but it's cozy and enjoyable. There are no TVs in the rooms and it's a shared bathroom situation, but there are plenty of facilities throughout the floor and I never had to wait to use the restroom or shower. Check in located in the Olympic Club Restaurant/Bar, and was super easy. The staff was friendly and helpful, making the stay painless and stress-free. The only downside is that the train station and tracks are right outside the back of the hotel - virtually across the street/alley. Centralia is a busy train city, so the trains go by all day and all night. The hotel does have free ear plugs for you, but if you're a very light sleeper, this might not be the best place for you. Besides that, I have nothing but great things to say about the Olympic Club Hotel. If the situation arises again that I need a place in town to stay, I will not hesitate to go there! read more

When we have get togethers at my sister in laws, we always stay here. It's turned into a home away from home since we come here often. This was another pleasant stay. Check in was easy. It took a little longer than usual since there was only one person checking guests in, but it was okay. We were placed in one of the front rooms which allowed us a view of the street, which I like. I don't know why I appreciate it so much, but the fact that the rooms have a sink in their rooms just seems so helpful. Just an FYI: Bring your 'brick' if you need to charge your phone. I had my cord and nothing to connect it to. The staff told me that they had those clocks with the USBs in them. Nope! Fortunately, buried in my luggage, I had left a brick so was able to charge my phone. The hotel is nice and small. Quaint, upstairs above the bar. Lots of neat things on the wall to look at and explore. And the rooms are very clean. Each room has a sink with toiletries in case you want to use a shared bathroom shower. The shared bathrooms are not far outside your room and there are many to choose from. The room supplies a robe for you in case you need to use it in the middle of the night. In fact all of the bathrooms I saw were single occupancy bathrooms with a single toilet for even more privacy. The only downside is the never stopping train that's like 100 feet from your window. The train wouldn't be bothersome if it didn't honk multiple times when it arrived. That's what wakes you up every hour all through the night. Ear plugs don't cover up the sound much. In fact, It's probably a couple different lines of trains, one being Amtrak. But the dang honking drove us nuts. Right when you start dozing off again at 3am, bam more horns. Sadly we will not be back because of this. I'm not even sure I could sleep through it if I was drunk. read more

I really hope this hotel is haunted, because it has all the necessary requirements: claustrophobic halls, narrow staircases, mood lighting, creepy artwork. Love it! Some people might be put off by the shared bathrooms in the hall (which are still private in that they can be locked, max occupancy of 1), but I think it makes it more exciting to creep out to use the facilities in the middle of the night! Unfortunately, no ghosts ambushed us, despite our taunting! Bed was comfy, if firmer than the mattress back home, and the room was toasty warm. Yes, you will hear a train pass by across the street in the middle of the night, and you can request earplugs if that's not your jam, but personally, we love it! Adds to the experience of feeling like you've stepped back into the early 20th century, which the decor of this antique building evokes. And free access to the theater = midnight movie before bed! Too tired? Stumble back to your room and zonk out! Sophie, at the front desk, is a gem: super sweet, helpful, friendly, informative and welcoming. The whole experience was just wonderful, a needed weekend getaway. And any pet friendly hotel gets a big kudos from me, as I don't have to worry about finding a puppy sitter. It's a friendly upbeat kind of place until you realize that the train station is directly behind the hotel rooms. The train goes by every 30 minutes and blows it's whistle ALL NIGHT LONG! You will not sleep. Also, I know that the fire pit seems like a good idea until you realize that not only does the smoke fill your room, but people and staff are out there partying until closing time. I've stayed here twice in the pandemic (and at many other McMenamins) on my quest to enjoy travel in my state/Oregon. This place has been on my radar for a long time, but I was originally hesitant to check it out due to it's low cost and lack of private bathrooms. Prices here are very reasonable, free parking is available next door, the bathrooms outside of your room are plentiful (and usually just across the hall) and there are sinks in your room. Sure the hotel staff is not available in the night, but I don't really need them while I sleep anyhow, there are #'s to call in case of an emergency. They do provide coffee on the hotel floor at some point in the morning. Water is available as well. I worried that it would be loud here due to the bar/movie theater activity down below, but did not experience this on either visit. I love the movie theater here and that rooms seem even cheaper if you take advantage of the free movie admission that is included with your room. A bar/restaurant/movie theater on the first floor make it really unnecessary to leave the hotel property on your visit, but this is located downtown and multiple other places to check out are located nearby. You can bring food/drinks up to your room. You can start your drink in the bar and bring it upstairs to finish it if you so desire via the backstairs. Do note that this property does require using the stairs to access your room, so staying here may not be appropriate to people who struggle with this. I now feel like this location is a hidden gem and will likely be staying here many additional times in the future. It's a good stop off for any road trip along the I-5 corridor. I might even try to visit by train some day to get full advantage of what it was like back in the day at this historical location. read more

When the gal at the front desk places special emphasis on the free earplugs located in the room you are checking into, you know your hotel is gonna be LOUD. The location of this hotel is fantastic. Right in the middle of the main street in Centralia. You can walk to all the interesting local shops, restaurants, and antique stores this town has to offer. That being said, this hotel is probably the best place to stay should you find yourself needing to stay overnight in Centralia, WA. It's typical Mcmenamins style in that it is a pretty cool old building. The rooms are small and set up a little weird. Not a ton of good places to set you stuff up around the room. The bathrooms are communal here so you don't get a private one in your room my room did come with a small sink and a small mirror. Now for more detail on the noise here. My side of the hotel room was right next to the Amtrak station. Convenient for traveling.. Super loud randomly through the night. The other side of the hotel seems to back right up to the movie theatre. Our friend staying on this side of the hotel said they could hear the movie almost word for word. So yeah... earplugs are A MUST here I would not stay here if I had other viable choices. If I find myself in Centralia overnight again I would likely stay here as I'm pretty sure this is the best hotel in town. read more

Maybe I'm just not a McMenamins person but this place was so dingy- I was shocked that people are thrilled to stay here. Putting a McMenamins sunshine logo on a turd doesn't suddenly make it a charming turd with "character"- it's still just a turd. It's not that I'm above staying in a cheap, dingy motel where you can hear every footstep in the building and don't have a personal bathroom- it's that I don't want to pay $145 a night for that experience. Especially in dinky Centralia. This place felt like a $70-$80 room. The train is literally right outside but thankfully did not go by as steadily during the night. Around 6pm I told the gal downstairs that one of the bathrooms was out of toilet paper and it was still not replaced until 10:30 am. Which is FUNNY because they have a sign in there that says they are 'trying their best' to clean the bathroom after each use. The "dog-friendly" room that we paid an extra $25 for absolutely had dog pee on the carpet and I'd suggest if you are bringing a dog not to bother telling them since no one actually sees you walk to your room and you check in at a different building. We could have had ten dogs and no one would've known or noticed. The quotes painted on the walls are creepy, why is it appropriate or necessary to talk about a child in fishnet stockings? I will say that the mac n cheese we had downstairs next door at their pub was amazing- hot damn! Needless to say, we will not be returning. read more

This property had a more historic feel - more rustic, simple, and yes, thinner walls and train toots, but if you're not expecting something fancy, it's very charming. It felt pretty immersive and true to its origins - you can really imagine what the old pub and hotel looked like back in the day. The surrounding town is also charming, with loads of quirky antique shops, but it is small. It's perfect for a low key weekend trip, especially with friends! Also, we found a nice deal on Amtrak tickets through McMenamins, and it was a fun way to travel. read more

The Olympic Club Hotel is a neat, old fashioned style hotel nestled in what is probably considered the downtown of Centralia (I don't know the city that well). It's a McMenamins, so you get the standard food and drink that they tend to offer, plus the trippy art everywhere and fun little odds and ends that make McMenamins properties so unique. They definitely have a style going for themselves, and it seems to be working. I mean, they have what? 60 properties or more? Crazy. This site is a hybrid hotel/bar/game room. When you first walk in, you'll find the front desk for the hotel portion of the property. You don't need to stay here to enjoy the facilities though! Check in, or head through the doors to the bar... next is the bar, which appears to be the original bar from when the place used to be... well... a bar. Back in the oldy time days. A long time ago, is what I'm sayin'. They have the pictures to back it up. Off to the right past the bar is the game room... awesome! They have pool! Shuffleboard! Pinball! TV's! All sorts of fun stuff... there's a patio out back if you wanna sit outside and enjoy the weather. The rooms are interesting, like most McMenamins properties rooms tend to be. Some of them have bunk beds, so if you're not looking for that kind of set up, tell the front desk you want a regular bed. The room we stayed in had a sink, which is always a plus! The room does tend to be a little noisy due to trains going by. I mean, literally, right behind the hotel are the tracks. The front desk will warn you, and you can get earplugs from them (for free, I think). The building is old, and has it's charm, including semi squeaky floors, and lots of old historical photos in the halls. I really liked it here, despite only staying for 1 night, and not spending a ton of time in the room. Added bonus was the complimentary coffee left out in the hall in the morning... we definitely needed it after our night out the night before! I would definitely check this place out again when I pass through and need a place to stay. The decor is fun and interesting, and its location is pretty primo, even if there isn't much to do in town. The restaurant, vibe, and location are oh-so-cool-McMenamin's. The restaurant and cafe has a great vibe and I could hang out here all night and have great fun. That said, I'd skip this hotel. The room was very small/tiny. The rooms are extremely close by each other and has a very loud creaky hallway - very little to no privacy. The room did not feature a sink nor any amenities whatsoever. The train noise and vibration from the movie theater is also hard to miss and hard to make for any sleep or relaxation. I stayed here a number of years ago, 2006 to be exact. It was a very fun experience and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Tucked away in a nondescript brick building you are immediately transported to a time long forgotten. It is a very vintage hotel and that is why its so fun. There are communal bathrooms and hostel style hotel rooms with bunk beds. There is an awesome restaurant down stairs that brew their own beer. My spouse and I stayed overnight. We took Amtrak from Seattle. The Olympic Club hotel is right across the street from the train station. So, kudos on location. Check in is at 3PM, but if you arrive early they will secure your luggage so you can explore the old town location around the hotel, or take a $1 bus to the outlet malls. The hotel is really old-school. It is dark and somewhat stuffy inside. McMenamin's did a great job keeping the hotel as "original" as possible. The ancient urinals in the bathroom are relics and very cool. To get to the hotel rooms you have to exit the restaurant/cafe/bar and go three doors down to unlock the door and walk up the stairs to the room. There are at least four bathrooms to use, since the rooms are just that, one room. There is a basin, however, in the room. There is no TV or phone. I think of this as a plus. But there is no elevator for patrons. The beds are on the softer side, and trains let you know, all day and night, that you are near a station. Even on the other side of the side of the hotel from the station, the train horns are very loud. A person does get used to it after a while. The food is typical McMenamin's fare and is priced accordingly, as in moderate. Lunch and dinner use the same menu. The house ales are good as are the Edgefield wines they make, but the portion size for wine was chinzy. The service is friendly and reasonably prompt. The salmon caesar was decent but not stellar. The mac and cheese was watery gooey and very tasty. There was a country music act playing in the theater, Jake Ray and the Cowdogs, who were entertaining and pretty good. Breakfast was typical fare. A short stack of two pancakes is fit for a lumberjack or starving teenager. The only negative here is that the latte came spilled over onto the saucer. The waitress just cleaned it and apologized. She should have remade the drink and brought it properly made. Yes, we were charged for it. The Olympic Club is a nice way to time travel to an older era of America. It fits the old town area perfectly. Pool tables and shuffleboard, too. We will probably go back when there is a music act or movie we would like to see. read more

Stopped in for lunch and a beverage and aside from magnificent service, the tastiest chicken sandwich I've had in years, an ambiance you cannot build or buy, an expresso that certainly competes and beats many in the area and just a great feeling for choosing the best stop between Portland and Seattle. I had a great stay here. I had gone to a McMenamins in Portland just days before I stayed here, so I had just discovered the properties and what they are all about from my friends who'd shown me around and explained the passport thing (too much work ;p). I somehow missed out on this when I lived in Washington but am glad to have experienced it. They have multiple properties and all sorts of enterprises like coffee roasting, brewing, wine making, that feel very artisanal and steampunk-ish and charming and kind of old world and have definitely done some LSD in that eccentric Oregonian hippie way. Being from Nor Cal and having gone to Evergreen, I felt *right* at home, let's put it that way. I was in Portland and needed to get out pronto, having planned to head up to Washington with a few stops along the way. I was supposed to stay with my friend in Morton, but was having a hard time getting in touch with her and found the Olympic Club Hotel in a pinch. I was traveling by myself, and safe and cozy room in a historic hotel with a shared bathroom, meals included in the package I booked, at quite a good rate was just so perfect. Since I was out in the country each day I didn't spend much time in town, but evening reminded me why Centralia is so cool. It's just a quiet town that still has a nice downtown because it's set off I-5 enough, and there are a lot of antique stores and actual businesses so it doesn't feel totally empty and sad like some rural towns can. I did watch a movie at their little theatre one night, and enjoyed gobbling up my food voucher - funded meals each night. I thought all of the food was good, as were the libations. I liked their McMenamins wine selection, and mostly stuck with wine, but they have an impressive assortment of spirits as well. Not so bad to have a fun night at the pub and just walk upstairs to get 'home'. Each time I had a meal I always had nice interactions with staff and patrons. The room itself was spartan, clean, and overlooked the roof. Not much to speak of in the way of storage, could have used more hooks and a little dresser, I just lived out of my suitcase. No view to speak of from my room, just the roof, and the sound of the trains was a frequent occurrence, but I LOVE that sound, it just gave me a cozy feeling. Conveniently I was across from the bathroom, which, YES, it is weird to have to cross into a hallway at night to use the potty, but I was there in wintertime, it was quiet, I rarely encountered anyone in the halls day or night. I loved the morning coffee service set out upstairs each morning as well, good coffee and real cream and real sugar, so you could take your time getting ready in the morning with your coffee and then eventually head down for breakfast. Definitely a respite from my usual business travel offerings courtesy of Marriott and Best Western! I overall have a fondness for the Olympic Club and recommend if you seek accommodations in Centralia. read more

Ordered a burger to go on a recent Monday night. Asked for medium and they charred it to a crisp. Same with the bacon and the bun was so overdone it did not even bend. The handful of fries they put in there with it were also overdone. The 12 or so they put in there. Uploaded a pic to show what sort of fries you get when you order from this place. Pretty horrible for a $10 burger. You are better off going to almost any other of 6 or so places nearby that serve burgers and grill food at a much better price. read more

Loved this funky vintage hotel! Great location, good food and fun easily accessible in the cafe, theater and gaming area next door. Nice staff as well. Queen bed was also very comfortable, just be prepared for the very noisy environment: train station across the street from back of hotel with whistle-blowing trains operating pretty much 24/7, theater below hotel sound system reverberating with loud noise into rooms overhead until they close late in the evening, and cafe revelers enjoying the evening until 1am. Got a good night's sleep with silicone ear plugs, but would have been awful without them trying to sleep. Shared bathroom was fine, everything very clean, lots of bathrooms and never had to wait, also nice terrycloth robes provided for hallway sojourns to the loo. The Hotel was a right out of the movie "The Sting", with bunk, queen & kings available with shared showers & bathrooms (plenty of them). The artistry & historical ambiance was magical (including passing train whistles). Round out your journey with a visit to the 1900s bar, restaurant, beer garden, billiards, live-music (in old the card room) & couch theater. If you like corporate chain hotels for their predictable sameness and safeness, you'll hate this place. If you like boutique hotels for their style and individuality, you might like this place. You might like it a lot. I qualify with "might" because this isn't your mom's boutique hotel. I'm not going to describe the hotel in any detail -- you can get that elsewhere -- let's just say that it's a bit dive/not dive. Kind of like a Wild West youth hostel with good beds and linens and bath robes, if you can picture that. Downstairs, there' s a bar / restaurant / pool hall that really makes the scene -- the whole complex is on the National Registry of Historic Places -- and it's a great place to hang out and shoot some pool. The food is good, and the bar mixes drinks with fresh-squeezed organic juice mixers (order a whiskey sour or a Kentucky sidecar) and has a big selection of microbrews. There's outdoor seating out back, with a fire pit. We were just trying to get south of Seattle traffic so that we'd reach Portland early the following morning, and Centralia is, as the name suggests, located centrally between Seattle and Portland. 33.333% serendipity and 95.8325% genius / adventurousness of Teacher Lady that we ended up trying this place. (Adds up to more than 100%? Whatever. Supersaturated solution.) I loved it. I'd make an excuse to stay there again. read more

When I return from a trip to Seattle, I like to hoodwink my designated driver into stopping here for lunch. It's a good idea to try to miss the crowd at the busiest hours, and avoid sitting upstairs where you may be forgotten for long periods. Your driver may get all twitchy and embarrass you by yelling at the overwhelmed Server. Maybe next time, I'll be able to do the Train deal overnite with a Sweetheart. NOT the twitchy person. Someone able to stay Sweet...or walk over to the damn bar on his own legs for his brew. The neighborhood is charming, so take time for a walk. Murals depict labor and agricultural history, including the time local overlords hung a labor union organizer from the bridge til DEAD! They tried to deny it and erase history - and tore down the local bridge to try to cover up the story. Fools, the Slave-Masters can be. Their imposition of misery is writ large on walls in Centrailia - and in NW Labor history now, and my former band GENERAL STRIKE still sings and tells of it. If you rehab old houses, you'll wish you'd brought a truck. There's a restorationist-kitch store a few dors down across the street. I wanted to move right in. PEOPLE - Overlook the strip-malls off the Freeway, and head West to Old Town for a couple enjoyable hours, and I promise you'll actually like the trip to/from Seattle. In Christmas season this district is cute as pie. I'll be back. read more

Mrs. H and I stayed the night at this former structure of sin. The joint was fully impregnated with that McMenamins charm that everyone has come to expect. It's got hand painted murals on it's lath and plaster walls, hard wood floors, a restaurant/nano-brewery conveniently located downstairs, communal loos, and friendly staff. We had lunch, dinner, drinks and breakfast in the restaurant. All of the food and brews were really good. I particularly enjoyed the seasonal wheat and the nitro stout. And now for the metaphorical rusty nails through the bottom of those lazy day loafers and the tetanus shot for it. The station behind the building has trains lacing into their horns every half an hour all night long. The hotel does provide earplugs and that's sweet but I recommend getting nice and crocked before bedtime. If you have kids leave them with a responsible adult or chained to a radiator. Sound travels well and it will just be miserable for you, them, and everyone else. Same thing for uppity dogs, kennel them both, just don't bring them there. Sharing the bathrooms can be a drag but they do have a lot of them and if you happen to be over 5'10" and a man I recommend pissing in the sink provided inside the room. Run the water to wash down the wiz. It's nice because the sound helps stimulate the urge to release and the faucet is already running to wash your hands like a gentlemen. Your partner should admire your ingenuity, appreciate the intimacy, and gain confidence in your sophisticated hygiene practices. Overall staying there can be a very gratifying experience but like many things in life one must go into it prepared and drink plenty of alcohol. read more

The whole downtown of Centralia was built around the rail line that runs through town, including the building that is the Olympic Club. It is a neat old railroad hotel, that has lots of tiny rooms upstairs and two old bars downstairs. They retained the historic look and feel of the place. I stayed here for a night with the Roy Gardner Package, which included one night stay, up to $40 for dinner, one bottle of their wine, billiards and $20 for breakfast. They also include a free admission to a movie if you are staying there. Definitely worth it! The people working there were super friendly and nice. The food was ok, not great, but it was pretty inexpensive, and you get what you pay for. The beer and wine was good, (and exactly the same as it is at all McMenamins.) Also, the billiards hall was super packed since it was a friday night so we didn't get in there, but beers went down to $2.50 for late night happy hour which made us happy :) I would recommend staying at this place for an inexpensive night out of town (its only 1.5 hours from seattle and portland) or a great stop over as you are traveling. read more

Stayed one night after my wedding very recently and it was everything I expected and better. Some people may take issue with the trains, which are extremely loud at all hours and are right across the street. I didn't mind them at all. Each room is a little different, we stayed in one of the larger rooms which had a private bath. There are no distracting tv's, radios, or air conditioners. Instead we got hand-painted murals all around the room which gave life to the history of some of the colorful characters that have helped shape it's long history. Also included were a few choice novels from around the time of the buildings last renovation. The beds were comfortable as was the vintage furniture in our room. The fixtures and furnishings of the hotel, restaurant, movie theater and bars are beautiful and clean. Tall ceilings, twists and turns, low lights under stained glass chandeliers and dark wood furniture create a timeless and comfortable experience that ceases to be replicated by more modern retreats. At the Olympic Club it could be 2016 or 1916 on the street and it wouldn't make much difference. This review is mainly for the hotel.The beer is great at the bar,and the wait staff was super friendly and accommodating to our large group but the food is really lacking for the steep price tags. Absolutely excellent! The food was great and the free movie that came with our room rental was a romantic experience. The rooms don't have toilets and showers, so be prepared to use common ones. The history and architecture were stunning and the experience provided was well worth the price. read more

Dinner on June 23rd. Burgers, fries, a margarita for my wife and a Canada Libre for me. Everything came to the table hot, despite the place being double packed due to a car show in town. The food here is just always satisfying and the quality is extremely consistent over time. Service was good. I wrote a previous review in which I bitched about the hamburger buns, which they had started making out of spent grain from their brewery. Evidently a lot of people called that error to their attention and they've corrected it, ditching the bad buns. My previous review also called them out for letting the quality of their french fries deteriorate. That also has been corrected as of this writing. They do learn from their mistakes, which is commendable. read more

Yep. This place is rad. Period. When this family of 4 checked in they tried to persuade us to choose somewhere else! It was a pub crawl night, we were going to be split up in two rooms, and it was going to be loud until 2am. We thanked them for the concern (wow, right) but still couldn't stomach the Holiday Inn. We put the teenagers in one room and stayed across the hall. So glad we did. We got a solid history lesson in Oregon and were stoked to have an adventure. Yeah it was loud - but we just went with it and ate and drank downstairs until it got a little craze. The beds were comfy, service was impeccable, we felt like we were back in a european hostel and we were in and out for $100. Don't let the community bathrooms scare ya. There's plenty of them and they are cleaned every 20mins. read more

We have had our passports for almost three years now and thought about investing in the company (had we had the money) However we have seen a decline in service and attention to care. While we have seen the impact of the pandemic on their staffing we have not felt welcomed during our birthday stay and the "cosmic road trip" experience except for at the White Eagle Hotel. The other hotel's front desk staff has treated us as if we are bothering them, the bar staff treated us as if we are not paying customers, and their paid package "Roy Roger" is "a first come first service" package. We are not sure if they could have done better. We are not sure we want to experience this again or even finish the passport... help us understand. read more

Fantastic historic hotel! My husband and I stayed in a queen room for 2 nights and had an accommodating, fun, and one-of-a-kind stay! We were here as part of a wedding party, which made the whole experience even more fun. Pros: - Unique experience staying in an old guesthouse, with authentic charm, creepy stories, and tons of history. The pictures, quotes, stories and memorabilia on the walls in the halls and rooms could entertain you all weekend. This place used to be a guest house, brothel, and pub/brewery including during prohibition. You can even find the secret passage in the floorboards behind the shuffleboard table where they used to bring the illegal booze in! Very cool. The housekeeper had a few creepy stories too about how the "ladies of the evening" lived in a couple of the rooms and what happened when they needed abortions or when things went awry... - Very accommodating staff. While certain amenities (irons, hair dryers) aren't available in the rooms, you can ask at the front desk and they will bring one to you. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Front desk, housekeepers, hosts, servers, etc. were all incredibly friendly. - Fun! Shuffleboard, pool tables, on-site theater (didn't get to check it out), pub and restaurant, patio out back. Wish I could have hung out even longer. The in-house McMenamin's beers I tried were just ok, but they certainly had some good choices. And the nearby Georgetown brewery pilsner on tap was superb. - Clean rooms and clean, modern bathroom facilities. Even though this is an old hotel, there were no bathroom or functional issues. Cons: - Shared bathrooms. Just know going in that when you have to pee in the middle of the night, you have to stumble down the hall. However there were plenty of toilets and showers for the amount of rooms -- all the rooms were full over the weekend for our wedding party, and I didn't have to ever wait or hunt around for an open bathroom. - Train noise. They provide ear plugs, but they might not even be enough to drown out the choo-choos. Every few hours the train passes by right under the windows. Luckily it's only several seconds (minute tops) of signal blowing. - Room sizes. Depending on your room, they're kinda small to very small for two people. Our corner queen room was great and had two large windows, but I saw one inside bunk bed room that was really tiny with minimal light (one tiny skylight). I can see how this type of hotel isn't everyone's cup of tea, but for the adventurous, historically inclined, or people who like to have fun, this is a fantastic experience! read more

Fun place! Wild history. Nice to have McMenamin's happy hour deals and movie theater just downstairs. It was fun to walk around and read the stories painted on the walls about the building's seedy past as a brothel, speakeasy, and card room. Hardest working cleaning crew I've ever seen, in the shared bathrooms and showers I never encountered a damp floor, there was always a dry floor mat and good selection of toiletries waiting for me. One note, that did not occur to me before staying here. If it matters to you, ask for a room with a window. About 1/3 of the rooms only have skylights, and minimal ventilation. We had to open the door in the middle of the night and open the window at the end of the hall for a while because the room got too stuffy, even in late winter/early spring. I cannot imagine how warm those rooms get in the summer. Skylight only rooms would be good for photo shoots where you want some interesting lighting, awesome for rum running and secret card rooms, not so good for borderline claustrophobic tourists. Also, if for some reason you tire of pub grub and the saloon feel, it is worth checking out Brownstone Coffee Lounge down the street. We had somehow missed it in our previous visits to the area, and it was wondrously big, with great coffee, sandwiches, and a darn good list of hard ciders. read more

We had my son's memorial there in April of 2018, and it was the perfect location. The place itself is not huge but welcoming and interesting. The event coordinator was delightful to work with and the food top-notch. The servers were both efficient and thoughtful of the gathering and added to the loving and supporting atmosphere of the event. I am very grateful. It turned out perfectly. read more

Historic Location: They did a wonderful job preserving this locations history and charm. If you a couple hours to spare on your drive between Seattle and Portland, this Hotel/Bar/Restaurant is a perfect place to visit or even spend the night. The bars are very cool and have that old world feel that you rarely get in other locations. They have plenty of pool tables and other games to keep you entertained. The food is excellent as well. I really enjoyed the historic neighborhood. You can go on a short walk and visit several unique shops in the area. My favorite was a antique store named "Needful Things" and the tattoo shop just south of the Hotel. Now we actually have a reason to visit Centralia. read more
