With some of these reviews I think there is a misunderstanding of what a two star rated hotel is. This hotel is in need of an update, but it is clean and the staff is friendly. As a note for parents of youth athletes staying here, the continental breakfast is pretty bad, with no protein options outside of hard boiled eggs. You will be better off going to the diner across the street. read more

Cozy and comfortable! I was in Centralia visiting an old friend and his wife who leave a few minutes drive from the Peppermill Empress Inn. They recommended the Inn and boy were they right! The Peppermill Empress is a nice hotel for the area, but not a nice hotel in general. Everything was very outdated and obviously hadn't been renovated in a very long time, if ever. The rooms were spacious but the bathroom was so tight, not ideal. There was plenty of parking and 2 entrances to the building which was nice. Continental breakfast much better than most places I've stayed except the lady in charged started taking stuff away about 10 minutes early without asking if we were going to get anything else which we wanted more juice but it was taken away but she got us some. The room is fine, however when my elderly mother tried to make the reservation directly she was referred to Priceline, afterward she needed to call and add a night. At that time she was re directed to Reservations.com. Endless story: when we arrived she was paying for first night twice. Hotel referred us to Priceline, who referred us to Reservations.com. Call to Reservations.com , terrible customer service, no record of reservation, the person sounded like they were outside, and there was no supervisor available. Needless to say we have no refund yet. Stay away from Reservations.com read more

Such an amazing inn with great staff! Maria at the front desk is an incredible staff member and always shows such a great attitude. They always let me come in earlier than my check in time which is really helpful and appreciative! Rather stay here than any other hotel/inn! The complimentary breakfast is also amazing. read more

I rented the meeting room for both of my daughters birthday parties. The room and bathrooms were clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was spacious and lots of natural lighting. Will definitely be renting again! read more

I have to say, the pickings were kind of slim when we were looking for a budget-friendly + clean looking hotel in the area that met our needs- but I was glad we found this place. My favorite thing prior to check in was that I was able to email them to request a pet friendly room and was shocked at how quickly they responded to confirm they had accommodated my request. Upon check in, the lady at the front was extremely pleasant and helpful. We got our keys and dropped our stuff off in our room and went about our business. Now, I will say that during the evening hours there was serious rumblings over head (it almost sounded like someone running up and down the hall above us for nearly an hour). It wasn't too bad, but I would say soundproofing might be a little better if at all possible. On a different note, the complimentary breakfast is super carb heavy, just something to be aware of (but the rooms have mini fridges and microwaves so you could always grab something else to keep in your room!) Overall I have to say - our room was clean and the service was excellent and I'd stay here again. read more

I had to cancel same day due to finding out a family member was being put on life support long enough for our family to say goodbye. I was charged the entire nights stay when I called to cancel. I was told they could not refund any of my payment. The hotel was not fully booked, there was no major event in town.... yet they still asked if I was willing to forfeit over $100.00 to cancel.... of course I have to cancel... a family member is dying! They kept my money and had the nerve to thank me and hoped I would do business with them again.... yeah.... I think not!!! Worst customer service ever!!! Appalling!!! If I leave one star it's because there isn't an option for zero. Hope they never go through what I am. This hotel is perfect for a overnight stay. They were very accommodating when it came to my cats. I would stay here again.

The entire staff at this hotel, was not only completely helpful to our family in a desperate time of need, but they went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. I actually had to cancel with them the day before, because we thought we'd be staying somewhere else when our loved one was in the hospital. But that changed within 24 hours again, and they were able to accommodate us perfectly. It is very wonderful hotel to stay at, and I would absolutely stay there again. To the management and the staff, thank you for being so kind to my family. No better place to stay in Centralia! Oh, and I need to add, that the rooms were very clean, and very spacious. This place was very clean. Not the newest hotel or a hotel with all the latest and greatest gadgets but definitely served its purposes. Great rate, very clean and had continental breakfast. I was very skeptical but glad I booked there. The employees were very helpful, nice and courteous. If you're not looking for glitz and glam I would recommend this place! I really hate to be "that person" who complains, but our beds creaked all night. They changed the mattresses, but apparently not the bed springs. Really creaked - impossibly loud - 4 of us in a double room, awake ALL night. When I asked for a discount, they asked me if I had come down in the night to complain, suggesting all 4 of us could pack up our room in the middle of the night and move . . . The next morning other guests commented about the beds at breakfast. There was also a dog turd in the elevator and outside the lift door. Unless you're desperate (there isn't much to choose from in Centralia) . . . The manager was "too busy" to call me back personally (a ding on the customer service scale) but did refund us $20 towards the cost. read more

We went downstairs for the free breakfast. It was nothing to write home about. I had a piece of stale bread that I made taste better by toasting it and putting a lot of strawberry jam on it. The coffee was bitter, as expected, and I was able to get it down with some Caramel Chocolate creamer and sugar. I came back to the room to get ready. None of us like the fact that this place has the sink out in the main room. The shower is tiny and there is very little space around the toilet. I would definitely not stay here again. read more

Wow. All I gotta say. Terrible customer service absolutely God awful bed and "pillows". The heavier set lady up front is extremely rude and should find a new job not working with customers. When we asked for extra pillows and another comforter she rolled her eyes and told me she does not supply any more pillows than what the room has and there are no more comforters but she could supply me with a few small twin sized blankets. We then asked about the phone because there was no dial tone we went to her twice over it and she rolled her eyes and gave attitude every time. She came into our room and said "I told you to press one" as she's pressing line one. There's a difference between one and line one. We told her that she didn't tell us that rolled her eyes and said you know what I smell smoke in here are you guys smoking we looked at her and said are you kidding me. Worst experience I have ever had. If your considering even staying here do so at your own risk. This place is a joke. Find a motel 6. Probably the same price as this place. read more

Customer service is horrible!! Apparently the clerk is retiring after 15 years and with the experience that was witnessed it's time!!! When arriving to check in my mom was told she's too early and would need to come back so she wanted to go to lunch and asked if they could hold her luggage and the clerk said no they didn't have room. She was just rude. The owner then stepped in to accommodate my mom and was very nice but shouldn't allow his employee to treat customers horribly he needs to realize that she leaves the first impression on the customers and that was not pleasant. He is planning on a remodel and updating so that will help. The room was very clean & smelled good and if we are back in town we would give them another try. read more

Spent 2 days at the hotel for a baseball tournament. The "breakfast" they advertise is not anything slightly healthy, they have bagels, english muffins and cereal. The rooms are outdated and could use some TLC, it has that old house smell. The 2 female workers I encountered were nice so that's a plus! It's in a decent location and close to shopping and restaurant's. read more

We were impressed with the size and state of the rooms, especially given the low nightly rate. The lot and lobby were clean and well maintained and the included breakfast was as good as anything you get for a hotel at a higher rate. The staff was also very kind and courteous but we were disappointed that no one was able or willing to call hotel or facilities management to repair the television satellite service that went out when the snow accumulated during the Superbowl. We had planned for a year to meet with friends and watch the game together at a hotel midway between their home and ours and this was the location we chose. Of course no one could help that it snowed but it was disappointing that staff was unprepared and disinclined to care for the guests and make sure we had access to television service, especially during such an iconic event. Telling us to go to the bar across the street was not an adequate solution. We weren't there to watch the game at a sports bar in town, we wanted and prepared to watch it together in our room(s). read more

I was passing through the city of Centralia after a 10-hour Drive so I decided to check into the hotel rest up and leave in the morning. I checked in at about 2am and was unable to sleep right away. Finally aorund 5am i fell asleep. At 7am I started hearing loud bangs and knocking as if there was a construction site going on on my floor... I got extremely irritated so I decided to get up I have breakfast and try to go back to sleep. I put my head back down at about 9am and someone decided to vacuum the entire floor so again I could not fall asleep by the time 10 a.m. came around I started to get very agitated and upset all I want to do some sleep. 10:30am I hear the door knock but I'm too exhausted to even answer so I just laid in bed. A few minutes went by and I heard the phone ring again I was too exhausted to answer the phone due to the fact that now I have not slept for almost 2 days. At precisely 11 a.m. which is obviously check out time instead of calling me again to confirm if I wanted to stay or what was going on I was greeted with a police like knock on the door it was so hard and loud I jumped out of bed and opened my room door attentively and aggressively as to what the hell is going on. And "Tara" the front desk person was at my door telling me that I was trespassing property and that I needed to leave my room right away. Obviously I'm confused no sleep I want to know what the hell is going on I try to explain what happened and that person starts telling me that I need to leave the hotel immediately otherwise the police will be called and that now I am trespassing property due to the fact that check out time is 11 and it is now 11. And all my life I have stayed at multiple hotels around the world I have never had anyone ever come to my room at exactly check out time and tell me that I am trespassing property and to leave the building immediately. I make my way down two hand in my room key and check out then "Tara" starts to play it off as if she wasn't being rude or aggressive with me earlier and started to try to explain herself by saying room service knocked on your door I called you multiple times which was a lie as I stated earlier. And just started to make things up as she was going this all happened at the front desk and I'm sure there's a record of it. Furthermore after I explained to her what the hell is going on all morning the best thing she could tell me was I will have a talk with room service I know what the noise was they were building a bed and they shouldn't have started building that bed until at least noon. At this point I looked at her I told her listen I just want my money back I couldn't even sleep here I wasn't treated with respect and I don't appreciate this type of business and any kind of place that I choose to spend my money and be comfortable. She did not offer me a refund and again stated that she would have a talk with room service because they didn't know how to do their job. That has nothing to do with me and I'm going to follow up with a refund request from management above This is the absolute worst service I have ever seen in my life. Staying here tonight, the halfway point on the Seattle-to-Portland bike ride. Made my reservation close to a year ago. When I arrived today, the desk clerk couldn't find my reservation, said the reservation number "wasn't one of ours" and said there's a 2-night minimum. I showed her the email with all the details, and she finally arranged a room for us. So, it worked out, but not without unwanted hassle. By the way, you can't take your bike in your room - it's being guarded outside by a 12-year-old. The clerk lectured another guest that "this has been their policy for 15 years." I stayed here the other night and was very happy with it. The hotel itself is clean and in good repair. The room was clean and well stocked. The girl at the front desk was sweet and cheerful. Quiet location. There is also a little pizza restaurant right across the street that makes some really good pizza. I rented a single queen room for 62 dollars after tax and have to say that for the room and service that is a VERY good price. I will definitely be staying here again the next time I come through this way. read more
