Interesting old school items, food is familiarly good as if Granny had a hand in it and prepared easily by some energetic youthful staff. They have a NUT OLIVE, this is as plain as the name and was if I showed up to Granny's and she placed this and some potato salad with eggs and celery in it and said enjoy. Enjoy I did, the overly mayonnaise laden potato salad worked out perfect to mix in some of that NUT OLIVE. Got a sliver of a lettuce wedge and two tomatoes for about 8.00 bucks. Good deals, quick service, helpful and cheery service as well. They have CANDIES and this was great to go, this place is a must visit in downtown Goshen. FINALLY got to visit Olympia with family visiting and we really enjoyed it. There were four of us plus an infant and toddler and things were very cramped. Getting four adults in one booth was tough enough, but we made it work. In fact, that made it even more fun. We came around noon, so it was busy, and service was a little slow. We ordered and the food was out faster than I had expected. I had the cheeseburger and fries and absolutely loved it. Under different circumstances I would have been more adventurous with the menu and ordered a shake or something else from the dessert menu, but will save that for next time. Next time, I'll also spend a bit longer perusing the candy counters, which were fresh-looking and well stocked with a wide variety of candies...and I love candy (who doesn't). Cramped quarters aside, this was a trip long overdue and one I didn't regret in the least. Inside is very nostalgic, with few modernities, but in a good way. It isn't over the top (ala Bonnie Doon's perhaps) and it a fun place to bring the kids, especially kids older than two. You may just want to shield their eyes when you walk in. You must pass the candy cases to reach the seating area of the restaurant :) read more

A 3 egg omelette: How do I love thee? Ham, sausage, onions, bell peppers, and cheese! I have known many like you but few were so tastefully prepared and served. If you are expecting a haughty maitre d' and seating service with reservations and dress code- this isn't the place. BUT if you want GREAT homemade food served by smiling faces--YOU NEED TO BE HERE! Step back into time and expect handmade milk shakes made the old fashion way--served in a GLASS! The list of sandwiches is so intriguing that I shall return tomorrow for a Toasted Olive Sandwiches with homemade mayonnaise. Oh, did I mention a 50' long counter of chocolate treats? What a fun place to grab a meal! Got here around noon on a Saturday. Place was nearly full, with people--families, couples, groups of friends--happily eating their food and sipping their morning coffees & beverages. Olympia gives you plenty--but not too too much--to choose from, at incredibly reasonable prices. My partner and I got 2 BLTs, a half order of fries, and a large cup of freshly squeezed OJ... all for ~$15. Food was wonderfully yummy; fries were perfect crispyness. ^_^ service was slightly on the slow side, but hey, the place was busy and buzzin'. Only open for breakfast and lunch, with a small, inexpensive menu of things like egg sandwiches, burgers, soup, milkshakes, and my mom's favorite - the olive nut sandwich. Yes, it's exactly what it sounds like, and I don't get it but she loves it. Homemade mayo, green olives and cashews on bread. I stopped into this downtown Goshen landmark with the GF for a bite to eat while visiting her family for the holidays. The atmosphere is friendly and the food was inexpensive and tasty. I had a delicious bacon cheeseburger and the waitress didn't bat an eye when I asked her to put a fried egg on it. The GF had this odd specialty called the Olive Nut Sandwich. It is actually much better than it sounds. The real gem at Olympia and the reason for it's name, is the candy that is made in the kitchen at the back of the restaurant. We were there for Sunday breakfast and I wish I could give it 5 stars but I can't. We sat at the counter and that gave us a front row seat to the kitchen staff The place was hopping and they did a great job. The problem is that they were handling the food with bare hands both before and after it was cooked. I watched them put uncooked bacon on the flat top the. Grab cooked bacon with the same hands and put it in customer plates. The wait staff would grab dirty glassware the. Grab toast coming out of the toaster without cleaning their hands. This is a review only for the diner - not the candy. Our party of 3 arrived on a dreary Saturday at lunch time. It was busy not overly. As others have said - the place is lodged in a time capsule era of Happy Days and earlier. Neato. Informing out waitress it was our first time there - we asked about the best selling items on the menu; sandwiches: nut olive (a house made cashew-olive mashup), stuffed olive, burger, tenderloin - "really anything". I ordered the double fried egg sandwich w/ cheese and house made mayo on whole wheat, the Mrs. had the fried egg and ham w/ cheese and the 3rd wheel ordered the tenderloin - all buttressed by the french fries. Our food was serviceable, but nothing standout. Must be small eggs BTW - I was still hungry after my $5 egg sandwich on extra thin and very small lightly toasted bread. Nice portion of fries but nothing was served hot - just warm. The whole experience reminded me of the cafes from decades back that advertised themselves as the "Sanitary Diner". Our bill tallied $20 not including tip for 3 lite lunches, I'm not wowed. We left and walked in the cold breeze 3 blocks south and got a hot dozen of Gus' Little Orbits w/ cinna-sugar and felt better about the Goshen run. Olympia is one of my favorite places to eat in Goshen, I work downtown and eat here at least once a week, the food is constantly good, the waitresses are consistently cute and friendly. You can get a really good breakfast or lunch for under $7 which is pretty awesome. Their Pancakes & Breaded Tenderloin are my favorite things on their menu. The food isn't terrible, but I've had better. Their burgers and fries are so-so. Their breakfast is actually pretty decent.
